We have four if you count bailey my bull mastiff :)

Yes, but one more person and a Mystery Van, and we could have gone around solving all the crime in The Zone.   :)

If you know someone who could be interested, feel free to pull them in.

Also, if I did everything correctly, character sheets should be editable. Deimos has a pretty good base sheet, so I'll leave it up to them to share it or not.

Unless I screwed up again, it should work. If not, I'll just copy the template into a text file and upload it to everyone.

Ok, now it works. *insert sound of face palm.*

Anyway, discuss among yourselves how you want each character to relate to the others, and if you need any character creation help. I'm not exactly keeping everything secret yet, so don't worry too much there.

Good gosh it's been a while since I got this started. Apologies for the wait, things have been a bit busy recently. IC will be starting this weekend, so if I want to make any last minute changes to your character, and/orbutmostlyand figure out your relationship with other PCs and NPCs, please do so now.

OK, these are my Bonds/Relationships, but in order to fill it in properly, I have to know what Deimos is playing.  He hasn't mentioned it once, nor has it come up ... at all.

 ... is awesome.  Keep close.
... is a bit slow on the uptake.  Best explain stuff.  In detail.
... makes me nervous.  I don't like the way he looks at me.
... is out for my gear.  Keep it close.

Oh it has. I introduced Deimos as our Stalker, with the requisite Shadow of Chernobyl references.

Right. I said the IC would start today, but at this point I'm going to need to ask this: Who is still around?

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
I really like the idea of getting our ARK placed and deciding what we want to have in it before we start play.  Could give us more of a focus going forward.

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
Yep, that's the thing I wanted to talk about before getting going, since I have everyone's attention. Well, one of the things.

The first is the placement of the ARK and what it looks like. Is it on dry land, or surrounded by the bay? Has it sunken into the water, with the colony fighting to keep themselves high and dry? Is it based around the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, the UN building, the One World Trade Center, or anywhere else? This is New York, the Big Apple rotted to the core.

The second is how do the characters relate to one another? What do they think of each other? How do they fit in with the rest of the ARK? What is their relationship to certain NPCs within the ARK?

These two sets of burning questions have been on the back burner long enough. Time to stir the pot and add some more seasoning, else the dinner is going to taste burnt and underwhelming.

Welly suggestion would be an old hospital but I'm very biased about that as I design them for a living :)

Or even better an old mental hospital when my wife and I first moved to London we bought a two bedroom flat in an old 18th century Victorian mental hospital it was amazing place to live lol

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
I'm fine with an old mental hospital, with a Victorian design.

As for how we know each other, we would be part of the same (dying) ARK of a few score individuals, so not hard for us to have run into each other on a regular/semi regular basis.

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
An old mental hospital in an acre or two sounds grand.  Maybe the walls that surrounded it have crumbled away or deteriorated and we have a ramshackle kind of defence in place.  That would mean we have somewhere around 200 people living in the ARK, but it is small enough that each of us know each other fairly well as we would have to "bump" into each other on a daily basis as we strive to maintain our ARK.

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
Now that is freaking huge.  I can see either we settled into probably the only building that didn't totally fall into rack and ruin, one that has seen better days and is only standing because of our efforts ... or we forged buildings and housing from the rubble and ruins to create our ARK.  Maybe with the rest, as I said, we formed some kind of defensive wall around the ARK.

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
Ah, St. Bernard's, proof that the the British have no concept of building small.

Let's see... New York City Lunatic Asylum? Where is... Oh. Oooh. Well that explains that. Hehehe. Let's see what else...

Unfortunately, New York City was a place which constantly replaced old fixtures. Since I dislike using fictional places in New York, I'm afraid to announce that you can find very, very little Victorian architecture in New York. There are also very few mental hospitals which are abandoned in NYC. However, there are two that I found interesting... Well, three but the first one doesn't count.

The first is the Creedmoor Psychiatric Center's Building 25, a mental asylum in Queen's Village which is an abandoned building near the Creedmoor campus. (This isn't very weird. My college had an abandoned building which was covered in asbestos.) It was built in 1912 and went from 8,000 patients to 500 when deinstitutionalizing happened in the 1950s. It just sat there, gathering dust when it was abandoned in the 1970s. This option would put you on the right side of the map.

The second is Hart Island, which has a long and storied history. I'm going to let you dig into that one on your own, but this one is on the north right of the map, right under the compass rose.

Re: OOC: A Place To Put Up One's Feet
So any chance of this getting started any time soon?

By the way in case you didn't know (I know I didn't!) there is a MY0 party based cRPG in the works; its turn absed with X-Com style combat. Looks pretty good.
