Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
THE TEA KETTLE

Madame Freona’s Tea Kettle (and Freona herself) is a
mystery to many. In the tumultuous Phlan, this is a place
where people can go to have a drink or meal and escape
the tensions of the schemers and the power-hungry.
With the Tea Kettle’s reputation as a haven, adventures
who can be discreet and behave themselves can often
find employment there.

Everyone please RP your way into Madame Freona's Tea Kettle as your first post. Make sure you introduce yourself to Madame Freona herself.

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
Ssivah had a long day at the Temple and it seemed that most of the priests and priestesses were making her do jobs that were normally done by those that was even lesser in the flock.  It was a day that she wished she could just take time to relax and just take her mind off of everything that was going on.

The Tea Kettle came to her mind and she quickly went to wash the sweat and dirt off her body and got on a nicer robe to wear.  She wanted to just have time to sip some feywine or even something weaker.

Moving from the Temple to Tea Kettle wasn't that difficult and she pulled her hood over her head to keep the most of the sun's rays from blinding her or causing her to run into someone she didn't notice right away. In the distance she could see the sign hanging from the door and it brought a smile upon her face.  Her pace seemed to quicken and once she was at the door she let out a heavy sigh of relief.  Looking both directions before entering she then opened the door and stepped inside.

The decor was not what you would expect and it dim lights here was a blessing to her eyes.  Not removing her hood but nodding her head to the proprietor. This wasn't her first time her and she knew that Madame Freona had secrets that only someone with powerful magic could uncover.

"Greeting Madame Freona, would you happen to have a nice cozy drink for a overworked lady?
she said with a wide smile.  Then she slowly removed her hood to show her who was talking,  but she knew that Freona already knew who she was.

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
Stein wiped his brow as he flopped down next to a tree. While he was still technically in North Faerűn, the weather seemed rather warm compared to the frigid waters of Icewind Dale. He had spent the better part of a day walking around looking for work, but to no avail. He had hoped to find open positions aboard the ships of Moonsea, but, alas, the influence of Tempus reached even out to here. It seemed that no crew wanted business with a cleric of Thor.

Stein nibbled on some biscuits as he pondered over his hastily scrawled town map. Crossing out the last trading company in the area, he started wondering if he should seek other forms of employment. He was disheartened at the idea of missing out on the endless adventure and excitement of seafaring, but he needed to earn wage in one manner or another. The worst part was, it's been nearly a week since he last had a drink of ale.

"Bah!" he exclaimed as he folded up the map and stuffed it in his pocket. He needed a drink if he was to think clearly. He had been frugal enough. He looked around at the buildings to see if there was a tavern nearby, but all he saw was a place called the "Madame Freona's Tea Kettle." He was about to wander off, but for some reason he felt drawn towards the place. They surely serve drinks other than tea.

His doubts disappeared as he walked into the Tea Kettle. Although it was his first time going in, he felt a sense of familiarity and comfort. He ambled around for a bit before he found who he assumed to be Madame Freona, an older looking halfling standing behind a large oaken bar counter. She smiled as he sat down, but said nothing.

"A... an ale if ye will," Stein murmured at the silent barkeep, slightly perturbed at her silence and her smile. For some reason he felt as if she already knew who he was, but he felt compelled to introduce himself anyways.

"Eh, me name's Stein. I'm looking for work and a place to stay."

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
Jessilara entered the Tea Kettle and offered a warm smile and the slightest nod of her head to Madame Freona. Jessilara removed her cloak as she entered and drapped it over one arm. The warmth of the Kettle and its ambident light lent Jess a more healthy tone to her pale skin. Running a hand through her salt and pepper hair she stopped herself from sitting at the raised single chair almost "bar" area of the Kettle and moved instead to a table for two where she slipped into a chair with an almost apologetic grace which was born from the life of mistreatment internalized.

Placing her cloak across the high backed chair she clasped her hands in front of her--then, suddenly she straightened her posture as if struck my some phantom blow as she was beset by the voices of her inner demons.

"The gods of men and the gods of elves are not alike, and I would not be so audacious as to presume to understand their design, I would but ask one thing of you my daughter--would you do your father the honor or not sitting like a mongel? The evidence of your muddled blood would not be half as obvious if you but comported yourself with the grace which is fully your birthright."

Even though the words were over a decade old they still brought a fire to Jessilara's cheeks (and fury to her eyes). She tightened her grip slightly but her clasped hands remained in front of her on the rough hewned wooden table top. She settled into a more elegent posture which conveyed the prideful mask that so many projected over the top of lies, malice and hate.

"Sir Snow, where are you? I need you."

Briefly Jessilara wondered if she had been explicit in when she wanted to meet with Snow (she knew that he didn't always get the subtleties often sprinkled into the conversations of a diplomat's daughter).

Similar to how she didn't always realize how much she depended on his strength...

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
The 6' Tiefling entered the Tea House, his powerful frame clad in simple but well cut black clothes with silver trim.  At his side, he bore the sword of his station, a pouch and dagger also hung from his belt.  There was little that could be done to hide what he was, and he did not bother with any of it.  He would face what reactions occurred stoically, with no attempt at concealment or appology.  His amethyst eyes took in all around, before moving towards Ssivah.  "Good day Lady Freonia, Lady Ssivah.  If I may have a double burgomont earl gray please."  He says, his voice a smooth baritone.  "May I join your table, Lady Ssivah?"

The door opened again and Izroth slipped into the room, letting the door quietly close behind him.  Dropping his hood, he approached the bar to order.  "Hello Lady Freonia, my name is Izroth.  Could I have a cup of.." he pauses and looks at a board of options, "the daily special?"  He takes a seat at the bar and examines the room.  There were a decent number of interesting looking folk in here, all some sort of adventurer by the look of them.  Settling back to wait, he watched the door to see if anyone unwelcome showed their face.

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
A shadow looms at the doorway of the teahouse, it holds the door open with a metallic claw.

...and sighs to itself when it realizes its just a little too big for the doorway.

It ducks down and turns its shoulders to squeeze in, making sure not to bump anything.  It's a bit of an ordeal, but after a few moments the shape is inside fully, and looking rather pleased with itself that nothing broke.

The shape in question is a silver-white male Dragonborn wearing a pancho of chain mail, a pack full of weapons and a "Ask me about the Platinum Dragon" placard around his neck.

"A pleassent morning prioresss." his voice was a basso rumble, with a sibilant reptilian rasp that he was eternally trying to exorcise from his accent, "Could I get ssomething with lemongrass and chamomile? In on of your larger cups pleasse."

Once that was squared away, he turned to look for place to sit.

"Ah, Jesse!" he said as he saw his friend, "Pardon my latenesss...I got sstopped on the way here.  The ssign works!"

He really hoped that little chair would take his weight.

Jess smiled brightly as Sir Snow entered.

She watched with concern from her seat as he navigated the establishment. When he was finally seated before her she nodded and then eyed the chair with no small amount of concern.

"Ah Sir Snow! Thank you for meeting me here!"

She looked over the sign, "That would look so much better in Draconic but, that wouldnt be the point now would it?"

She said with a smile.

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
She was taking a sip of the feywine that was given to her and then a familiar voice was heard.  Turning her head to look in the direction of the door she saw none other than Calderax, her assigned bodyguard from the Temple.  Not that she needed one but it seemed that the Temple wanted to prove they had some power still over one that had a direct connection with the Divine.

Looking down at the seat next to her "That would be wonderful, Calderax.  What do you fancy today?

Something strong or some herbal remedy?
she asked in her soft pleasant voice.

Ssivah was also taking notice of more people entering the place and she was shocked to see a Dragonborn here at the same time.  She wondered if there was going to be any trouble from him.  She always wanted to sit down and talk with a Dragonborn to discover more about their race, culture and mating.

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan
With two large books tucked under one arm and his thoughts devoted to his latest discoveries on ancient history, Telldorin enters Madame Freona's Tea Kettle, eager for a cup of tea and a quiet corner where he can continue his reading.

"Greetings, Madame Freona, and good tidings," he says. "A cup of green tea, please."

Although Telldorin wishes to return to his tomes of study, the Tea Kettle is particularly busy, and a table of his own might be hard to come by. He also knows it might do him good to socialize a little.

Telldorin spots a table with a Half-Elf and a Dragonborn seated together and approaches. "Mind if I join you?" he asks somewhat nervously.

Stein could feel his face flush with warmth as he teetered back into the Tea Kettle. He had already downed a few ales and he needed to go outside to relieve himself. He barely noticed the increase in patrons as he made his way around the tables.

"Another ale, Madame!" Stein proclaimed boisterously, plopping down at what he had presumed to be the bar. It took him a couple moments before he noticed that he was in fact not sitting at the bar, and had intruded in the conversation between what seemed to be a Tiefling and a Drow.

"Aaaah, me apologies! Hope I weren't inter'pting anythin'," he chortled amiably. "Me name's Stein. Quite a place we got here, eh?"

Jessilara straightened and looked up to Talldorin.

She stood and gestured to the large table top as she spoke. "Certainly! One does not seek out a place such as this for solitude." The half-elf smiled demurely, "I have a roosebud something or other that is quite tasty and does a passing job of reminding me of home." There was an awkward untested/unperfected charisma which was deployed by Jess to pacify Talldorin's nervousness.

As Talldorin began to settle into his chair at the table Jess offered a hand, "I am Jessilara, most of my friends call be Jess"

Chapter 1 - Defiance in Phlan

Soon everyone realized that Madame Freona’s Tea Kettle was the place where adventurers could find work and avoid the hassle associated with other places in Phlan. So far, that has been consistent. Madame Freona, a stout and officious halfling who runs the establishment with her five daughters, has proven an excellent hostess.

As the evening progresses, Freona served dinner. The evening meal was truly excellent and the atmosphere pleasant and relaxing. As everyone are preparing to bunk down for the evening, one of Freona’s daughters peeks into the
room. She calls a few of the adventurers, including you, into the hall.

"Pardon my interruption,” says the halfling girl named Reece, one of Freona’s five daughters, just shy of adulthood. “A chap just came into the common room downstairs and asked me to fetch all you. Something about some coin needing to change hands for an easy job.” She plays with her curly red hair nervously.

Everyone was ushered into a secure room. Seated alone in the rooms is a hooded person. He waved his hand and ushered everyone to sit down. "I am an Agent from the Harpers faction and offers everyone a job." He casually said. "As you all know, we are an organization dedicated to fighting evil wherever it hides. Recently, we have captured a merchant that was going to illegally purchase a red, dragon egg. And though we tried all manners of persuasion, alas, the merchant keeps its tongue tied."

It is evident in his voice that this Harper Agent was frustrated. Nevertheless he kept going. "What I want you to do, is to pose as merchant and hirelings, then go to the site, and make the transactions. Also you must this pin stealthily on one of the sellers."Suddenly everyone's eyes glittered as a small sack of diamonds and a pin was placed on the table. "This is what you are going to use to buy the egg. And this is the pin you need to place on one of the sellers. And please, under no circumstances you are to fight with the sellers. Failure to do this will negate the rewards from me and will incur the wrath of my organization" He firmly said. "When you complete the transaction, you are to return the egg to me. When you have done all this things, I will reward you heavily. Now decide who will be the merchant and who will act as hireling." The Agent finished talking.

Stein hiccuped as he pondered the job from the mysterious organization. The job seemed simple enough, but there were still too many questions to be answered. Stein couldn't help but be a little suspicious.

"Well, that's all fine and dandy now," Stein drawled at the hooded man, "but if yer crew be so frightenin', why don't ye do the transaction yerself?"

"When and where is this purchase to take place, and what does this seller look like?"

Izroth frowned as the man carried on with the instructions.  A dragon egg would be extremely interesting for study; a live infant dragon even more so.  Immediately, he shook his head.  Damn that ethereal thing, no good knowledge would come of this.

Glancing around the room, he took in the others reactions.  Their questions were valid.  He couldn't think of any of his own yet, so he quietly sat and mentally noted down the answers that were given.
