In reply to Darkside Trooper (msg # 1):

Marie entered seeing, remarkably, a bunch of women looking back at her from her battery. Instantly, she relaxed. For unsaid considered circumstances, she trusted women far more than she ever would a man, and gave her battery a reassuring smile.

"Mike Battery reporting in. Hooah, sir." The confidence was palpable in her. Having assessed her team leaders, her confidence soared.

Prometheus Defense Commander Meeting 7-27-2009

Introductions are made and Lieutenant Colonel Kvetoslav lays out what assets they have.

"The Prometheus has four close in defense lasers, three Mark 41 vertical launch systems, and four torpedo tubes in the bow as part of its own defense. Each VLS only has fifty missiles available, and each of the torpedo tubes have eight missiles available."

"My Hotel Company has ten Spartan mecha, split into three platoons of three mecha, and my command mecha."

"After the reorganization after PLuto, Mike and November Batteries are nearly identical in number and mecha type. I see two ways to deploy Mike and November Batteries to provide defensive coverage."

"The first way is to have one Battery cover the ventral hull and the other Battery cover the dorsal hull."

"The second way is to have one battery cover the forward hull ventral and dorsal and the other Battery cover the aft hull, ventral and dorsal."

"Major Yating, and Lieutenant Chambers which type of defensive coverage do you prefer?"

Prometheus Defense Commander Meeting 7-27-2009

Major Yating speaks first. "I believe the second method of deployment is better. But instead of the mecha protecting the underside to be on the underside hull we should be using the firing ports on the second and fourth deck." The Chinese Marine then provides his reasoning. "For mecha to get to the underside they will have to step off from an aircraft elevator when it is at its lowest point. If there is a misstep, the mecha will end up floating off in space."

OOC: I'm using the deck plan from the old RDF Manual.

"If memory serves, Prometheus has a diving well or a moon pool. Any chance of using that along the keel?"

Faye shook her head "No moon pool." As a member of the UES Prometheus's original contingent of 16 ADR-03 Cheyenne's she was pretty familiar with the ship. Of course Lt Col Kvetoslav was in command of the ships contingent of MBR-07 Spartan's. "But there's a mini submersible bay in the bow tucked between the two torpedo rooms."

"The firing ports on the 4th deck were practically at the water line, so we should be able to provide good coverage for the underside hull. Not only that but reloading after expending out munitions will be easier."

In reply to Lt (jg) Powlowski (msg # 6):

"What about using some of the other embarked assets from Daedalus and SDF-1 in the firing ports? Avenger SAM vehicles, maybe LAVs with 25mm firing out the airlocks and firing ports for additional support? Set up some Patriot batteries on deck, if we have them."

"Not many armored vehicles survived the battle of Macross Island, most of the surviving crews have been retrained as Destroid pilots or serving in the infantry units. Of the surviving vehicles most were disassembled to provide material for new destroids"

"I do know there are two Finnish crewed veritech hover tanks, if they have not been assigned to a defense unit I will try to get them and see if any armored vehicles are available."

In reply to Darkside Trooper (msg # 9):

"Mike will take the flight deck. It's probably the most vulnerable area. H&S Platoon will defend the flight deck directly. First and Second platoons will deploy to the upper firing ports. I recommend using third platoon as a reserve to relieve H&S to fall back, reload, and weld on some patches over damage. We can rotate the two, or if first and second take casualties, we can use reserve units to replace. In this way, though, hopefully, we can rotate the two platoons on the flight deck providing continuous coverage. Faye, you know about defending ships, what do you think?"

In reply to Marie Chambers (msg # 10):

Faye offered her input. "If we are going to be responsible for covering the upper half of the Prometheus then we should put our Phalanx's on the second deck with the Tomahawks supporting. Positioned there, the Phalanx's can be rearmed more quickly as they don't have to move far, and the Tomahawks will be able to deal with any medium range threats."

She then made it clear that having one platoon on the flight deck wasn't going to work "We're going to need more then four anti-air units on the flight deck." Recalling a btter memory of what happened on off the coast of Macross Island she explained. "Back on Earth we only had four Cheyennes and a pair of Spartan's on deck and they didn't last long, and we were boarded by alien mecha. We tried to sortie more mecha up to the flight deck, but were not able to until a group of veritechs showed up."

"So ideally we should have eight anti-air mecha on the flight deck along with four Spartan's for support. If you want to keep two of the dedicated anti-air mecha in reserve we may still be able to maintain coverage due to the missiles the Phalanx's and Tomahawks"

At the mention of his units Spartan's the Russian officer chimed in. "I intend to have my command platoon of four mecha on the flight deck. We had this same number at Pluto and it was suffice."

"The remaining six mecha will be below decks to counter any attempt to board the interior of the vessel."

"Sir." She whispers into Marie's ear after a slight tap to the elbow.

"It might have 'suffice' at Pluto...but we're going to be missing damn near ten squadrons of our air support this time around." She says in a low tone just loud enough to make it clear she's passing along info but low enough not to easily hear what said info is as Kitty points out to her CO...that...half their 'guardian angels' are going to be off fucking with the moons of Saturn or hitting the Cassini Gap... What Marie does with the info, up channeling it, or no, is up to her.

In reply to Kitty Summers (msg # 13):

"Makes sense. We may need all hands on deck, and the plan is sound. We should still try rotating fire as long as possible between platoons to sustain fire as long as possible, before we start reloading. The defensive positions you recommend sound good, Faye.

"And more destroids on deck the better, Major. Glad to have you out there with us. Best not keep anything in reserve this time out, since we're low on Veritechs."
