Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

Story Weaver:
It was Waning Cresent when you were entering (and leaving Wasat for that matter).

Incidentally, Nimol has his bow, but he's lost his spear that he (would have) used for up-close fighting (if he'd ever had to do any).

So what's the rules about punching without a weapon? -2 damage?

Or is there, instead (or also) a penalty to hit if he tries to use his bow and arrows against someone getting right up in his grill?

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

I'm going to use one of the rules
Follow the Fiction

So when melee damaging, fisticuffs from an average person risks bruises and scrapes.
So that would be a d4, but Nimol is a bit stronger from elephant handling.
So d6 for now.

Bow and arrow, well that might be you being in melee range when you choose the "You take what you can get" option of using bows. Maybe maybe that means you auto select that option and a chance to harm Nimol?

I think I'll go like that for now.

No no, that makes sense (and yes he does have STR of 13 (+1) after all)-- it simply lowers him by 1 damage die.

So... one of 2 things, just depends on the situation...? (If that's correct, then yeah, I can live with that too)

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

1. Glad that seems to be an agreement. Just don't try punching a brick wall or steel armor directly with just the fists. That stuff hurts ;)

2. Yeah that feels right, we'll roll with that situation generates itself as both conclusions seems right on.

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

I appreciate the posts in patience, I'm actually trying to find an Rpg map maker. One that gives a hyperlink afterwards as it seems to be the main way to do so. My apologies.

Plus, good tunes I must say, you keep surprising me with them.

Would this help...?

Honestly, though, I can live without a map... just be careful when describing the options about where to go...

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

Apologies on the overall slowness to any private game posting. A time crunch has reduced the "desk time" for any game in a while.

Still trying to figure out how to get across an image to better display the thoughts that occur to me (Rpol can be great, but the image posting part leaves something to be desired). While I do so, here are the current directions that remain.

The First Floor so far:

Main Entrance - Plenty of crates everywhere, but otherwise a typical main entrance foyer of any monastery.

(Left of Main Entrance)
Library Reception - To permit entrance to library while keeping nayer-do-wells out.
Followed by Library - Typical Library space which contained the entrance to
Secret Entrance

(Right of Main Entrance)
Corridor with a door to the back half of the building (unexplored) along with stairs to the 2nd Floor, and stairs going down (unexplored)

The Second Floor so far:

Corridor of barrack entrances and special rooms (including the one that the party rested in before). At the end of the hallway is a door that leads to more of the building (unexplored)

I've recently got my phone sorted, which gave me a good chance to play Steve Jackson's Sorcery!

I thought to let you know of it if you wanted a mobile Choose-Your-Own-Adventure  game.

I did it on Android (Play store). It is like £4 (I forget conversion) on there. It made sense for mobile fun.

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

How busy are you? In general?

Super busy?

I've got a good balance of games going right now...

...But I keep THINKING...

I sort of don't want to start a new game, but I sort of want...

...What if there was a mid-range between these two-person storytelling exercises I see on RPol, and a solo game?

What if there was a 2-player solo game-story, where one was half telling a story and half playing a game, where each person was the GM for the other one?

Where each of two people (say you and me) take turns telling a (for example) Dungeon-World type of story, where there are only dice rolls when you're not sure which way you want to go with something?

And... and it... it could be like... you and I could each have one character we were sort of in charge of (like Fritz Lieber's Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser)... or we could do like THIS game, and have a party where each of us were in charge of 3 (okay it's a little bit like that now, except that Abrisham Zand and Jagga etc get way less screen time) characters... Or split the difference and each of us be in charge of 2...

Does... does this sound cool to you...? What do you think...? Is this crazy...?

I just... have this DW-style world I'd really sort of like to write characters in... but not necessarily play a normal game with as such...

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

My bad on the slowness, but here is the perspective of mine.

There are already quite a few games firing atm. I'm already letting solo games fall to the wayside to try and catch up the group games. I've been sorry to disappoint you so far like that.

But on the game style itself...
It is potentially interesting, but I might think to ask you, are you looking at it all with DW tinted goggles?
I forget the appropriate one, but if it is purely story, with only rolls for the unsure feeling things, then maybe another system might have what we need?
Also, how would you codify "turns" in this manner anyway?

I'm just pondering out loud.

Mmm, no, hope not... Don't really want to examine another system...

You just write until you want to give it to the other person... Which in dialogue between characters on my side and one your side (that is, character one of us controls talking to a character the other one controls, and vice-versa, plural when applicable) could be pretty quick turnaround...

Would it be useful if I told you about the setting I have in mind, or not yet?
