I'll be honest, I picked the monster from my D&D mind first, then looked up the stats and was like "ah..."

You have a big group, let us face a challenge :D

Also, piercing is a tag so...
Nope, I'll scratch that, apply your armor as you will.

Hey, it's up to you... you sure...?

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

I'll make there a reason for it, in fact, the dust has messed up the creature damaging people for a time. That reason works good enough for me :D
I'll need to learn my pacing with the overall threats here if the dice go nasty. :P

1. Is there any way to tell how damaged Big Windy is by looking? Maybe if one of us Discerned Realities?

2. What sort of fan are the NPCs trying to get?

3. Is there any way of telling how many Little Impies there are left? Maybe if one of us Discerned Realities?

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

1. I can see that being the case, considering with most creatures it is possible to see, with some risk of failure as it is quasi-invisible right now.

2. It will look somewhat like this https://www.laperfectionlouis....lue-polka-duvelleroy

But basically its a hand fan of sorts.

3. A contested roll? No, lets use Discern Realities frame the narrative of attempting to notice how many there are left.

...So... you lost me. Should I roll Discern for 1. How hurt Big Windy seems, or 2. how many Impies are left, or 3. both or 4. neither?

For big windie, yeah defo. For the little minis I would say yes to discern realities for determining their number.

Okay but do I roll to discern for both, or once for each?

I would say for both, how well you roll will tell if you can know stuff about them both.

One more good hit from Big Windy might kill Syrio, or maybe even Ravnar if something extra went wrong, so I guess they're gonna have to help kill the little imps-- can't have anyone else put to sleep... and Nimol and Sannang will have to fight Big Windy with Jagga's help...

Oh no wait Ravnar can try casting Magic Missile at Big Windy first, since he can see the thing...

1. What are the odds that the other two guys might be helpful/useful in fighting Big Windy?

2. Does Syrio need to help FIND the imps first, or can he just go ahead and try to attack one...?

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

1. Sai might be hard pressed against big windy, Zand could get a good strike in and Jagga has more chance to fight things based on his learnings of the common bad creatures of the supernatural disposition (more so demon/devil from Kali worship).

2. He might need to find one or two, but the different angle (not being among the crates as much as the others are) means he can see a few in their hiding spots right now if he turned his back.

Magic is always an option to consider, there is healing magic as well.

On the magic question, it doesn't specify on 6 and below. Quite a few moves does that so I think it's any move up to and including (probably encouraged to be) a hard move.

I have a fun pondering to do.

Here's another question I'm uncertain of (and which has always made me not love Discern Realities)

1. Can Ravnar do Discern Realities AGAIN? This time regarding

A. If there's anything interesting about the dead monsters (spell components maybe?)
B. If there's anything about the junk here we haven't already noticed

2. What exactly happens if one outright fails at Discern Realities? Nothing? -1 forward...?

Re: OOC Thread for DW - Land of Fate

I think it has to be a rule of thumb about the situation being different or changing circumstances.

In my mind, say there is a dark room and you didn't do well with a Discern roll, maybe opening large curtains changes the room with how much light is in. Thus it's different enough to warrant another roll.

I think with this different focus I could allow it. Further looking might reveal another.

There is nothing predefined for 6 and below, so it's really what GM makes a Hard Move of. I still need to figure out a good one for that spell use...

Yeah, see, that's what bugs me about the move... it can be a lot of work if they make it, and frustrating for everyone if they don't, because it's sort of ill-defined.

We'll have to take it on a case-by-case basis... THIS particular time, though, I think I'll try it tomorrow...

Meaning the Amber game? Yes... they're a little slow to get started, but I'm pleased by the response...

That statue looks fairly like Zann, for they held themselves with an intellectual pursuit, but not Scholarly?

...They? Who's they? Followers of Zann? Or are you using "they" as a gender-neutral pronoun for this deity Zann?

quote:
It might well be Jamar, one of the 10 Thousand old gods, like Kali. Syrio remembered from an old sailor that this god was for the knowledge one gains from exploration and reflection of experiences. He disapproved of learning only from books or word of mouth, you had to see for yourself.

Thus the learned individual who adventures or travels often worshiped him, competing with Zann for worship more then one of the 10 thousand usually do.
Legend has it that he is one of the most material gods, often being found to walk along all the planes.

Sooooo Syrio thinks the statue is of a god... either Zann or Jamar, huh?

Zann no relation to Zand, I suppose, eh...?

No relation, Zann and Jamar are both masculine gods.

While there sphere of influence is similar, they are of no relation to each other.

The statue being the most common form of Jamar

So...

1. It sounds like you're saying it would normally be more common to find a statue of Jamar?

2. So... in the quote right about about intellectual-but-not-scholarly... who is "they"?

Ah, I meant to say that the traveller look is the most common depiction of Jamar in worship and such.

Well of the two, Zann is more common as Zann is one of the 8 often worshiped gods. Jamar is lesser known.

Yeah that they was a little misplaced gender neutral identifier on Jamar.

Well, since Ravnar blew his Looking-Around-The-Room roll, I guess there's nothing for it but to go into the other rooms... Except... What we really need most is to make camp and rest for the night... man we're beat... Maybe we can find a big bedroom or some other defensible position soonish...

Hmm... does Jagga have Cure Light Wounds or anything...?

I like to think he just remembers the stories he hears a little better.
The other two are mor pearls of wisdom sort then factual recollection.
