Re: [OOC] The Tavern
I have uploaded a map to Group 0. Group 0 is typically where tactical combat maps will be. Main Group will stay with Sandpoint for the near future and Group 1 is a overview of the region.
When looking at the map I'd like to point out a few things:
1) There is a grid, please use it when describing movements and attacks (e.g. I move to A6 or I attack the goblin at C13).
2) Blue = PCs, Green = Allies, Gray = Non-combatants, Red = Enemies. That format typically follows. I'm thinking about Purple to highlight Big Bad Evil Guys
3) Please please please explicitly state how you are using your three actions each turn. As mentioned in the IMPORTANT INFO thread just at the bottom of your post do something like:
A1:
A2:
A3:
Really really helps me take the guess work out of posts. Less guess work means we don't have to pause for rework or clarifications and the easier you make it for me to post updates, the faster I can make those updates and the faster the game moves along. In my other 2e game we're doing about a chapter a month which has been fantastic.
4) For combat in general I am eliminating initiative. I'm borrowing rules from 5e which basically says I will determine who goes first and then that side will go as a block. You will perform actions in the turn order that you post so you can assume what happens above your post has happened by the time it is "your turn."
That being said I'm using a complicated weighting factor to determine which side goes first so bumps to initiative via feats and abilities will still be factored in. In some ways they aren't as impactful because your values are being averaged in to the rest of the party however in other ways they are MORE important because if you can tip the balance then your whole party moves first, not just you.
5) For this combat I normally post a tracker for each enemy so you can see who is wounded but with so many goblins in play that isn't really feasible. I'll track any special ones but the rank and file are just going to be around. Instead I'll post up health bars if goblins get wounded so you can still focus fire and pick off the injured if you so desire.
6) Goblins have the surprise round so while you can "react" to the chaos and commotion you won't be able to take combat actions yet until my first official combat post.
7) To explain the map, 9 goblins in 3 groups of 3 have emerged from various hiding places, typically off of rooftops, out of alley ways, out scrambling out from under carts and supply piles. You're in a large group of civilians, ~50-60. To the north east is a small group of musicians, to the east is the stage where all the speakers were speaking, and to the south is the big banquet tables along with a few helpers who are setting things up.
I think that just about covers everything. Let me know if you have any questions.
