Silviene prowls in carrying her Bat'leth and heads over to the shuttlepod that T'Shran is preping.

In reply to Silviene Felis (msg # 3):

Shard saunters into the shuttlebay about a minute later, equipped only with a Type-2 and a Tricorder.

"Did you order up a Flight Crew, Commander, or will you be piloting, yourself?" Shard asks Miranda.

In reply to Shard Vinzz (msg # 4):

" I was going to pilot myself. As far as your suggestion of Security Team One, it was good but I felt a smaller presence of the three of us would be a better fit to tho mission. Between Felis' Batleth and my Ushaan and your phaser. We should be able to cut down squads of Klingons with ease. "

The CMO entered the shuttle bay, walked over to the shuttle Rikki Tikki Tavi and entered.

"Whether it's an exploration mission or a rescue mission," Sergei announced to those already on board, "you'll need a doctor."

He takes a seat and fastens the seat belt.

In reply to Sergei Kondratev (msg # 6):

" That is why I called you, on the shipwide. Everyone buckle up and but your tray tables in the upright and locked positons."

Miranda finishes prelaunch check list.

R.T. and Koram entered the shuttle bay and walked over to the shuttle. If the crew had done their job, and he had no reason to think that they hadn't, then the shuttle would have already been prepped. All of them would have anyway, unless one was being worked on.

"Hello, Doctor," he said to Sergei as R.T. took the seat opposite him.

"Ready for some fun? Although I hope your services aren't really needed, Sergei. I think that would be a first for an away team, though."

He wasn't used to all this 'high-level' thinking that shuffled around away teams and shuttles, but he tagged along with Blackthorne and hoped he was still supposed to be on this one. As near as he could tell, he was expected, since no one told him to get lost.

"Hello, everyone," he said to the others as climbed aboard the shuttle.

"Do I need a phaser?"

He had his engineering tricorder, but it hadn't occurred to him that he might need a weapon. Normally, the only weapon he needed was Knowledge.

Silviene slid a glace at Koram. *note to self: Protect clueless Trill, We don't want to be responsible for a war starting over the loss of one of their sacred worm things*

Shard responds with a big smile and a double thumbs up.


Shard turns his head and stares, unblinking and unmoving, at Koram for a couple of long, uncomfortable seconds,

"Engineer Koram Val," Shard says, finally blinking, "It is good to see you again.  As an Engineer, you must have some capability with mathematics -- such as one plus one plus one equals three -- and you must also know the concept of mathematical word problems -- such as 'Secret Facility of Klingon Architectural Design' plus 'Local Klingon Authorities Deny Knowledge of Facilities in Area' plus 'anything to do with Klingons' equals..." Shard turns in his seat, unlocks a cabinet set in the wall, and pulls out a Type-2 phaser, then tosses the weapon over to Koram.

"Yes.  You need a phaser.  The same goes for you, too, Doctor, Mr. Blackthorne -- at least a Type-1; for defense.  If there are Klingons down there, and if they are hostile...well...Klingon Warriors are not well known for halting their attack just because their target yells 'I'm unarmed, I surrender!', as many a Horta in the Dominion War learned the hard way.  Are you both armed, gentlemen?"

The troublesome ensign had approached the shuttle bay where the party to board the Klingon Ship was parked, preparing to depart.

Using his communicator, his neutral voice came through "Commander, Ensign Stilk, respectfully requesting permission to accompany the Away Team."

Silviene narrowed her eyes slightly at Vinzz as she slightly stroked her Bat'leth. As Stilk's voice comes over the intercom link she groans internally. T'Shran, Vinzz and stilk? This mission had the potential to go downhill fast. She hoped that the doctor was ready and that Koram stayed out of trouble.

He nimbly caught the phaser that Vinzz tossed to him. Like all Starfleet Academy graduates, he'd been trained and qualified with phasers, and had even taken a course on other weapons just to familiarize himself with them. Of course, there was that tale of Cadet Ethan McFarlane who managed to go through Starfleet Academy--twice!--without ever getting phaser training.

It was just that a phaser wasn't an engineering tool. Normally. Again, though, there was that tale of Lieutenant Amira Tressayne who used a phaser to cold start a fusion reactor. Not that he believed that; he did not know of any phaser powerful enough to do that... well, except a ship's phasers.

Did he detect some tension after Stilk's comm request?

Miranda starts the shuttle sequence.

" Intelligence always wanting to stick their noses where it doesn't belong. "

"If you'll pardon me saying so, Commander T'Shran, you need to get over your prejudice against Stilk, intelligence agents or Vulcans... or whatever's causing problems," Blackthorne said.

"He was showing his respect for your authority by making the request. He didn't need to do that. He has every right to be on the away team. He should be on the away team. He needs to see first hand what is down there."

Stilks jaw tightened at the refusal. He was being refused the ability to do his job, and if this persists his Starfleet career will be a short one. He knew better than to protest further, given what the Commander already perceives of him

In reply to Stilk (msg # 17):

Shard gives a heavy sigh, then leans forward in his seat, getting a little closer to Miranda, and speaks in a lowered voice,

"I'm not that fond of Intel-Weenies myself, Commander," Shard says lowly, "And I don't mean to beat a dead ice worm, but remember what Admiral Savengriff said about this Intel-Weenie -- that he has the ear of an Admiral back at Starfleet HQ.  It might be best to tolerate him coming along."

"If nothing else, he can assist Koram Val, here, with opening the electronic locks on doors, down there.  Vulcans are good for that, I hear.  And we can always make him sit in the back of the shuttle..."

In reply to Shard Vinzz (msg # 18):

Miranda opens the shuttle bay doors.


" Fine, Come in Ensign. Welcome to my away mission. "

Silviene listened to the varied conversations. She didn't have any particular issue with intelligence agents or Stilk himself it was just that this particular grouping could prove volatile. Well, She would make the best of it.

"Hey Stilk? I've trained in the Klingon Mok'Bara and in human Tai chi. If you have time and the willingness to do so, it might be interesting to learn some of the Vulcan techniques."

In reply to Silviene Felis (msg # 20):

Miranda restarts flight sequence.

" So, is my team ready? "

Silviene turns to FO T'Shran.

"That's an Affirmative for me, Sir."

"Ready and able Commander" As Stilk strapped himself in. Looking over to Caitin, he responded to the inquiry "That is an intriguing offer, as the two take martial disciplines in quite different directions philosophically.  Let's discuss this further when we return"

Acknowledging Silviene's response to Miranda with a nod of his own in Silviene's direction, Shard answers Miranda with,

"Security contingent all present and ready for launch, X-O."

Miranda flies the shuttle out of the Mongoose and towards the Klingon facility.

Several hours later, Miranda flies the shuttle back into the hangar bay.

All systems check out, the shuttle hasn't taken any damage, and everyone is still alive!

One by one, the Away Team disembarks from the shuttle.
