But it needs a name!

Running the recreation lounge on a Nebula-class starship was the furthest thing any Risan would be likely to do off Risa... except maybe being a chief engineer or, perish forbid, a captain.

As Mirel wrote the potential names for the lounge up on the board, she pondered the convoluted path that had taken her here. An unexpected romance, a quirky off-world custom called 'marriage', a honeymoon on Earth, and then the equally unexpected divorce. 'He'--she refused to even mention his name any more--had found someone else that he lusted after even more!

Oddly, Mirel had been more bewildered than hurt. Long-term personal commitments on Risa weren't unheard of, just not particularly practical. It'd make Risa a permanently dull place to live. And then where would the galaxy be? And where would poor Risa be?

She was sure the people would get by, but prosperity might remain forever out of their grasp.

While she tried to figure out where that left her, besides stranded on Earth, she finally decided that this Earth 'marriage' thing was just a silly (and unnecessary) form of jemaharon, and the 'engagement ring' was their version of a horga'hn. If she'd been a Ventaxian clamborol, she probably would have kicker herself in her own ass for being so stupid. Then again, enough tourists came to Risa that didn't know the meaning of a horga'hn that she supposed she could forgive herself for not knowing some other world's ritual.

Then came the offer that she couldn't refuse--exploration. Why would any Risan want to do that? she'd asked, but had quickly answered her own question: because going back to Risa would be embarrassing. She'd get over it in time, but she wasn't quite ready to deal with it yet.

Admiral Rance had claimed he'd taken a liking to her on Risa several years ago, though she couldn't remember him. So he'd offered her this strange job. Everything after that had been a whirlwind... even the ship's sudden departure.

She (nor any of the crew) had time to come up with a name for the lounge. Many starships apparently just called it by the floorplan designation, like Ten Forward or Sixteen Aft or Five Down or the Bulkhead (a smaller ship).

She thought it should have a more... enticing... name, like Paradise Found or Sunset Grill or the Mellow Out. Still, it wasn't really her lounge. She was just operating it. It was part of the ship, so it belonged to the crew. She wasn't quite sure if she was considered part of the crew or not. After all, she wasn't in Starfleet.

Everything was ready. Now all she had to do was wait for her first customer!

Sergei entered and, seeing only the bartender, strode to the bar and sat down.
"Evening! Tell me, do you have any Centaurian vodka back there?"

In reply to Sergei Kondratev (msg # 3):

Sitting at the bar, drinking a cup of coffee. She sighs.

"Well, Doctor, should I wait in your office for your next duty shift, or can you clear me for duty now?"

Sergei regards her.
"I'll be in Sickbay 0730 tomorrow, I'll be happy to see you then. Are you feeling restless? It may be a good idea to schedule an appointment with the counselor as well," he makes a face "though I can't help but feel apprehensive about the advice a Ferengi can give."

"Of course I do," Mirel answered as she reached under the counter and pulled up a bottle of Mosk Centauri vodka, puts a glass on the counter and pours him a glass.

"If she's like most Starfleet officers," she then said with a glance at Miranda, "she'll feel a lot better on duty. I know I would."

"I couldn't blame them, I'd feel restless too." He drinks, "I've lived on starships my whole life, and finding ways to pass downtime is one of the most valuable skills I've learned."
