"I'm guessing that entering the Hot Zone won't be a problem for your ship, Eclipse?" R.T. says.

"Just remember that we need to survey all 15 worlds in the Hot Zone, even if Verdi is the only one capable of supporting life. It's a Class B world, which means it's Earth-like but with some factor that could be hazardous. In this case, it's probably the temperature. You'll need to see if there's any life already on the planet, possibly the poles or in subterranean caverns."

"Planets 14 and 15 are probably greenhouse worlds, like Venus. Dense atmosphere, extremely high temperatures on the surface. They could probably be terraformed, but it's problematical in the Hot Zone."

"Ensign Val and Petty Officer Starbird... how about you two join Eclipse on the Ancestor?"

"Anyone else want to go?"

"Is it just me, or should we expect a few surprises?" he comments to Logan who was standing next to him.

"You think a surprise as big as a 100 planet system would be enough. But I've got faith that the Universe isn't going to be content with just that one BIG surprise."

"The chances of this system being natural are... I think they are beyond 'astronomical'. More like impossible."

"I sincerely hope so." Logan responded quietly to Koram with a half-smile. "It wouldn't be any fun otherwise."

Finally, Logan saw his chance to escape the deep night shift. "Count me in, Lt. Commander." He volunteered to R.T.

"If you're right, Ensign Val, I can't wait to see what purpose an 'unnaturally' occuring super-system could possibly serve."

Adventure #4: Super-System

Eclipse smirked at the comment about the Ancestor being able to handle the hot zone.

"If the Ancestor can't handle it on it's own I can always adjust the shields, though I was already planning on having them up at full strength before approaching the planets too close. It wouldn't be the first time I've encountered a subterranean race, the Miraki back home are a small lizard like race that build below the ground and then we have discovered the remains of another race that built their cities below ground aswell."

Eclipse turns to Logan as shi hears his last comment about wanting to see why such a system would be made.

"One of the reasons I can think of that I sure wouldn't want to see, a giant zoo of other sentient species from all over the universe."

"So far, there's no sign of life on the planet," the Commander responds.

"It seems unreasonable that there wouldn't be something on the surface to indicate a civilization underground. But, that doesn't mean we can discount it."

"With the Ancestor going to the Hot Zone, that leaves the Mongoose to cover the inner habitable zone."

"The three of you can report to the Ancestor now in case Eclipse needs to brief you on anything you need to know about her ship... how to get around on it and similar stuff."

Adventure #4: Super-System

"As you can see, there are 5 M-Class planets in this system," R.T. says.

"It's amazing to find just one, let alone 5!"

"There are two in the 3rd Habitable Zone that are in the same orbit. If they were equidistantly placed around the sun, that'd be one thing. They aren't. So we're going to investigate those two planets with the Mongoose after dropping off a shuttle with another Away Team at the 2nd Habitable Zone's M-Class planet."

"The Ancestor can then work it's way outward from the Hot Zone and explore the innermost M-Class planet, which is the second planet out in the system and just outside the Hot Zone."

"That gives you three options, Commander T'Shran."

"That'll be up to Eclipse," Koram says to Pacomio. "If she wants us to transport over, fine. She may decided another way is better."

Five M-Class planets. Wow. He'd sort of seen that on the list, but it hadn't really register. Probably a case of TMI.

The Federation had encountered a Dyson Sphere, but hadn't yet run across a ring world. This super-system seemed to fall into the same category: impossible man-made system.

Eclipse looked around at those that where going with hir and spoke up.

"If those coming aboard the Ancestor gather around and make physical contact with each other and myself, I can get us all over to my ship from here and get us on our way much faster."

Once everyone was gathered by hir and making contact with hirself and someone else Shi teleported them all to the back of the Ancestors bridge.

Adventure #4: Super-System

Miranda has decided to lead the shuttle team going to the planet Sharok.

The team consists of Lt. Commander Silviene Felis (security), Ensign Zarim Thraw (science), Lt. Douglas Kincaid (ops), and Lt. J.G. Jillian Svenson (medical).

After Away Team One is teleported to the Ancestor and Eclipse's ship heads for the Inner Hot Zone, the Mongoose heads to the 1st Habitable Zone and drops off shuttle with Away Team Two at Sharok.

The Mongoose then heads for the 2nd Habitable Zone and the planets Botticelli and Vivaldi.

That'll be Away Team Three, led by Lt. Commander Shard Vinzz, and includes Lt. Dypec (engineering), Lt. J.G. Kelm Renlo (operations), and Lt. Commander R. T. Blackthorne (science).

Adventure #4: Super-System

As the shuttle Serendipity is dropped off at the planet designated Sharok after a Vulcan composer, the members of Away Team Two begin going over the data from the Mongoose's scans. It's a Class M planet and teeming with life.

The predominant life form detected seems to be a large reptilian species, analogous to the dinosaurs of Earth's distant past.

As the shuttle enters the atmosphere and begins surveying the world, many of the pictures of the reptiles look eerily familiar. They look just like Earth dinosaurs!

"I concur," Ensign Thraw from Science agrees. "However, the appearance is a bit too... Earth-like."

"This planet's gravity, solar radiance, rotation, and revolution are not 100% exact as Earth. It does not seem likely that the evolution of such creatures would produce exact replicas of Earth's dinosaurs."

"It seems equally unlikely that these could somehow be Earth dinosaurs, but that is the only other explanation I can think of."

"I don't suppose there's any chance that these dinosaurs developed intelligence, is there?" Kincaid asked.

"I'm just thinking how nice it would be if we could just politely ask one for a blood and tissue sample. I have no problem with stunning one with a phaser and taking the sample then. How about it, Zarim, Jillian? Does that seem reasonable? How many different ones do you think we should get samples from?"

"With your permission, of course, Commander T'Shran."

"We should take a sample from as many different species as we can," Jillian answers.

"Getting it from the carnivores could be a problem, though."

"For the T-Rex's, I'd suggest using maximum stun, with at least two back ups, and possibly someone with his phaser set at maximum. I really hope we don't have to kill it, but if it comes to it or losing a team member... definitely don't want to lose a team member. Paperwork is horrible!"

"Whether they are above animal intelligence or not, do not underestimate their instinctual cunning. Certainly you can out-think them, but that may not be enough. When those massive jaws are reaching for you, you aren't going to have the luxury of out-thinking it in that instant."

Doug pilots the shuttle around the area, looking for the types of creatures mentioned. He doesn't plan on landing too close to them, but also wants to stay away from the big ones. He has no doubt the brontosaurs and the T. Rexes could probably damage the shuttle.

"Are those plant-eaters over there?" he asks, pointing out to a group of small dinosaurs.

"Yep, that's a herbivore, one of the few small ones that aren't runners," Jillian answers. "It'd be hard to catch one of the runners. Running is their defense mechanism and they would be very fast."

"That one is one of the armored ones. Hard for the carnivores to bite it."
