Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
The first day of the festival is a big succes! However, on the second day, despite the good job they did setting it up, the weather has taken an unseasonable turn for the worse, and the festival is increasingly grey and dim, and people are moping about depressed. This is no natural weather however. There is magic afoot.

All Hope refrsshed to 10 if you are below 10. Everyone make rolls to figure out what is going on.

Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Sakura had spent the first day...enjoying herself? It was an odd feeling, really, but she had been enjoying the potluck food, and once the music shifted from Joan Jett to Pat Benatar she had tried to show Alicia how to dance. ...Okay, so that hadn't gone so well, but she'd enjoyed hanging out with the other girl anyway!

Which made it terribly irritating when the next day came with an unexpected gray sky and a magical pall over the proceedings. Sakura looked over at Alicia. "Come on. I want to find out what's going on and put a stop to it before it rains on the ice cream."

And with that, she started hunting. Ordinarily, Sakura was not the most thorough of sleuths, but she was pissed. Not only her date was being ruined, but the festival she'd worked so hard to set up. And in her case, being mad just sharpened her focus, leading her to meticulously seek out the patterns in the disturbance.

13:19, Today: Sakura Tanaka rolled 5 using 1d8.  On the Hunt.

1 Hope for Success Comes to the Driven makes it a 7.

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Alicia had had fun the previous day, even if she'd had to help run the festival and couldn't fully enjoy it the entire time it was open. Normally she'd just set things up and then stay at her home with her nose in a book instead of even trying to enjoy the social activity. But Sakura had asked her to go to the festival with her and Alicia really wanted to spend time with the other girl, no matter what they were doing together. Even if that meant embarrassing herself again when Sakura tried to teach her how to dance. Once that idea proved to be too challenging for the girls, they moved on to funner things instead.

The second day of the festival Alicia didn't have to run a booth, but the weather decided it didn't want to cooperate today and the sky remained grey and depressing for most people. What was weird was that Alicia was sure the weather man had said it was going to be sunny and clear this morning. Sure they'd been wrong before, but it still seemed weird to Alicia.
"Kitty? Does this weather seem odd to you? I mean I remember the weather man saying it was supposed to be sunny today, not this."

"Open your senses. This is no ordinary bad day, it's a magically-influenced bad day," said Sakura with a tight-lipped frown. "That means that someone or something is responsible."

Kitty blind as she looked around. She was in one of her tight short black dresses today due to having no cheerleading practice. She flicked her hand in the air as she let a few random rain drops land on it. She placed her finger in her mouth as she blinked. "It has some kind of a magical feel to it....I mean....I wish some guy would have asked me out but I guess a strange wizard coming to town to pick a fight with us is another good thing. I always wanted to flirt with a bad boy and maybe we can persuade him not to ruin our school festival...I hope it is a him at least..."

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Alicia can't help grinning at her friends words, knowing if she weren't into Sakura she'd be wanting a bad boy or girl too. But she is into Sakura and incredibly happy that they're on a date, even if theres some parts that she'd rather forget. Will she ever gain coordination and learn to dance without being transformed first? This thought and self recrimination flashes through her mind before she can get it back on track. Looking to the sky, she put what she would consider her best weapon on the problem, her mind. "If this is the work of the Dark, there will be an attack soon. We need to prepare to protect these innocents." At least their Nakama wont be surprised.

OOC: Can I do rituals when I'm not transformed, or do I only have access to them when in armor? 13:08, Today: Alicia Polnare rolled 5 using 1d8.  Clued In.

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Our heroine's kick ass magical senses has led them to the root of all this. Sadly Kitty, it is not a boy at all, but a girl. A dark Magical girl. She is about to start harvesting happiness and joy of your class mates, but luckily you interrupted her before any harm was done. She gives a ‘tch!’ of annoyance and said,“It’s about time you showed up. I was starting to think this school had no protectors at all.”

Sakura smirked. "Come on now, a festival this good doesn't happen by accident. And you don't get to ruin it, either."

She clenched her hand into a fist. "Awaken!" And in a flurry of stock footage (slowed down for the viewers at home), she shifted into her warrior costume: a blue tanktop and buruma with gold highlights, under-knee gold boots, and white gloves studded with gems.

"I am Sakura, Divine Champion. I'll give you one chance to stop meddling with the weather and stealing hope. You're welcome to stay and enjoy the festival, or go somewhere else as you please."

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
The book never specifies on the matter of rituals. It assumes you are transformed when ever you are doing magic. So you must transform first. FYI, Princess Kitty's player is my live in Fiancee and I can't seem to get her to stop playing ps3  to post. So I'll just post now and she will jump in.

"Well at least you look the part. Since we are exchanging greetings I am Obsidian Scythe! No, I will continue to 'meddle' and harvest all the good bonds you worked so hard to flourish with this festival. But I am not all about taking. I'll give you goody two shoes some thing to play with. Arise King Snake!" Shouted the dark magical girl. Just then a Snake Yomi appeared and took possession of a streamer balloon. Meanwhile Obsidian Scythe 'flits away' ninja vanish style. Do you go after her or stop this Yomi from rampaging and destroying the school gym?

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Sakura sized up the others quickly. "Alicia, Kitty. Can you handle Balloonatic here while I track our uninvited guest?" Alicia was at least reliable enough to work with Kitty and deal with a garden-variety threat like a possessed balloon, but neither of them would be much good for tracking the real problem to her base. And they couldn't let that trail grow cold!

If there were no immediate objections from either of her partners, Sakura would speed herself up and begin chasing after Obsidian Scythe as quickly and stealthily as she could.

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Kitty shook her head a bit as she tensed up, " I HATE SNAKES! She ran sliding under a table as she cried out, " rainbow prism power!!!  The girl let out a cry as the table blew over and she started to transform, " OH GOD I HATE THIS I OW DAMN WHY IS IT SO TIGHT NO NO STOP STOP UHG SERIOUSLY WHY IS MY TRANSFORMATION LIKE TRYING TO SLIDE INTO A latex outfit! As she tensed up she was covering herself up. The sphere of pink light with rainbows flowing around it in a circular motion showed a figure having some kind of tight outfit growing around her body. The bottom underwear was rather tight and so was the skirt as it grew out of the already appearing material. Long boots began to form on her legs as she shook her head glaring in her outfit holding out a wand, " OKay uh....so what do we do with tthis snake thingy....I really hate snakes..."

The snake looks at Princess Kitty whine about her outfit and roll's it's balloon eyes at her. "The outfit is decided by you. So you thought up the skin tight latex...you Hussy." The balloon yomi then did a double take, "Hey! Isn't there three of you?"

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Just as the balloon mentions the third member, Alicia pops up from behind a counter inside the nearest booth. Brushing herself off, and blushing bright red, its obvious she's getting up from just having fallen on her face. "By the Light we will stop you! Transform!"

Once she shouts transform, Alicia is surrounded by a green, shimmering light that lifts her up into the air and spins her around for about 20 seconds. Once the light sets her on her feet again it fades and leaves Alicia wearing a green Fuku with white trim. Straightening up, she glares at the snake yomi, "We will stop you from hurting these people."

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Sakura sped off after the vanishing Obsidian Scythe, arm sweeping behind her in the traditional stance of a ninja runner. (Sakura isn't a ninja, though! Why is she doing the fancy running trick?)

Ninja or not, Sakura kept dodging behind corners, crouching behind obstacles, and constantly keeping Obsidian Scythe in view. She had no intention of fighting the other girl alone, just finding her hideout while the other two took out the distraction.

I'll leave you two to clean up the balloon. Shouldn't be much harder than the organizing phase, right?

12:56, Today: Sakura Tanaka rolled 8 using 1d8.  Chasing the dr...magical girl.

Perfect success on silently following our adversary. GM, may I suggest that for my Bonus, I find out one of Obsidian Scythe's Aspects while staking her out and waiting for the others?

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
"Where do you think your going Girl!" screamed the snake Yomi. It tried to block Sakura's path with it's giant balloon tail. Though she managed to literally pop it and move past. But she get's covered in horrible balloon shreds and it was distracting. Obsidian Scythe had escaped. But Sakura can tell by the open window and obvious fire escape, the darkling rushed to the Gym's Roof.

I spend A GM's hope token to invoke an aspect against you and give you a -2 to the roll. She now has a success with disadvantage. You know where Obsidian Scythe is. I now only have 8 tokens left. Sakura has the aspect "covered in tacky balloon guts" and gains a Hope Token.

Kitty tenses up as she quickly grasps her wand placing it against her lips and starts to play it almost like it is a flute. She removes her lips as she shouts in a singing tone, "It is called the song of inspiration to help sakura move the song of inspiration to make this snake go boom " she placed her lips onto the flute again as she played spinning around in a rainbow light that swirled around like some awful match box car track around her. She smirked as she quickly raised the wand pointing it at Sakura, "SAKURA GO GET THAT BI....!" She froze as she was about to say the words but saw the snake still facing her, "Better yet uhm.....help me..."

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
Sakura cursed under her breath as Alicia was...not there. When that happened, she stopped following after Obsidian and turned sideways toward the snake Yomi. Letting the dark magical girl get away for now, she instead grabbed the attacking Yomi-snake's tail and swung it around, spinning it towards the top of the nearest wire fence.

>16:43, Today: Sakura Tanaka rolled 7 using 1d8.

+2 for Inspiring Music. Taking the free invoke, it's 9 - 2 damage.

I'd have been happy to let Kitty and Alicia deal with the balloon snake, but one doesn't leave a helpless support character to fight balloon snakes alone. Though she might want to consider being more aggressive next round...

Kitty tensed up backing up as she saw Sakura grabbing at the snake. "Sa.....I mean yeah you magical girl like totally attacking that snake....please hold on I will make a trap."

Kitty looked around as she quickly snatched a table cloth and attempted to make a makeshift net to nab the snake as it was tossed.

Fight!: Balloon Snake Yomi
Aspects: Thin Balloon Skin, Colorful Terror
Hits per turn: 2
Number of Hits to KO: 1/4 Only 1 hit left!

Kitty scored 1 hit with disadvantage! She needs to learn to use those invokes! Kitty has now disadvantage "Caught in a damn net with a Yomi"
The snake hits you both for 2 Damage! Lose 2 hope tokens!

The Yomi retaliates by tossing Sakura off with a snap of it's tail sending her in the air once it connected to the fence. When Kitty traps it in the tables cloth she some how gets tangled up with the Snake Yomi as well. "Look, you are sweet and all. But I am not into human girls," said the Yomi blushing. Kitty suffers emotional damage from rejection and embarrassment!

Sakura saw her chance when the Yomi was tied up with the cute Kitty. "You don't get to hug a girl like that and then say you're not interested!" she chided. Then she grabbed the rubbery yomi with two hands and started pulling its balloon body apart.

Re: Scene 2/ Challenge 2: Magic Afoot
There was a loud satisfying POP! The balloons of the snake Yomi instantly scattered in a mess everywhere. With that done the Yomi was defeated. The only thing left was the two magical girls in the gym.

That's right! Obsidian scythe is on the roof! The girls have a clear path to the roof and can follow her trail. Time for the final showdown!
