Before the bandits attack we’ll have to run through the plan one more time OOC.  I am doing my best to keep track of course, but I don’t want to forget any traps or lose track of where PCs are.

Crossbows and bows… who’s going to man those?  Are those going to be given to NPCs or do any of the PCs want to handle it?  If NPCs may I suggest a bit of IC about picking villagers you would like to assign there.

Described activities take you to mid day, you still have half a day available today.  Everything you mentioned so far - consider done

Anyone heading out to scout, and since you do not know exact location of a bandit camp - please roll appropriate skill to find it.  Bandits aren’t actually hiding all that much so roll of 7 will be enough, but… I am more interested in how far above 7 you’ll roll since that will give you bonuses.

Posted it IC but managed, with a re-roll, to get a 12 to scout the bandit camp. Die roller hates me. Always has. When I run games it helps players destroy my hordes and bosses with both ease and impunity.

Oda, that's friggin' genius. If I hadn't high-tailed it off to the bandit camp, I'd go with you on this little mission.

Morgan's gotten in. Morgan, Narrator - should O go ahead and post or wait a day or two to see if anyone else chimes in?

I confess to preferring a more frequent posting schedule, but that certainly isn't the only way to do things.

No worries, and frankly I think by now we can take more casual attitude to the game.

Everyone got lives, the pace of posting has slowed but it appears remaining players are comfortable with it... so don't sweat it - everyone does the best they can and we should move ahead slowly but happily.

Minor lore update.  Episode 7 of the current season had a map close up, as a result sentence "In the mountains North of the Vojve in the former Peacock territory is the small village of Donbrook " should read "In the mountains North of the Vojya in the former Peacock territory is the small village of Donbrook " ;)

On a related matter, if the game survives long enough... showdown between Chau and Widow will happen right in our backyard. ;) Could get interesting.

IF need be, I vote we deal with these bandits then time warp to that point in the story.

"IF" being crucial in that. I'd like to see this game continue for a long time.

Before I start the bandit attack let’s make sure I’ve got the situation right.

  1. (from original plan) Southern Bridge is trapped, there river is at full strength and very hard to ford, if someone tries there are spike traps underwater
  2. (from original plan) There is an archer on the watch tower on the stockade who should be able to cover the south road and the bridge nicely
  3. (from original plan) The Mill has canopy which should protect it from fire arrows and such
  4. (from original plan) The bridge by the mill is destroyed, bandits can’t cross here (not without wading through the water)
  5. Rabbit is at the Mill watching over it and surrounding area
  6. (from original plan) Hidden trench with spikes covers the approach from the West
  7. (from original plan) The North road is trapped with ropes which would at slow the enemy advance, the trap is a double trap using an obvious part as a misdirection and a “real” trap.
  8. (from original plan) Red are defending the North Road (although Red appears to be an NPC now)
  9. (updated plan) Oda is defending the North Road
  10. (from original plan) Bone Flower is positioned in the field North of the Mill and is hidden (did this changed?)
  11. (updated plan) North East road is trapped with trip-ropes, spiked pits, few ambushers in the fields on the side (as per Bone Flower)... or North East road is left trapless in other to funnel bandits here (as per Morgan)... characters will have to come up with a decision here. ;)
  12. Morgan, if I understand correctly you will be at the North East road?
  13. There are spike and fire traps on the sides of the roads which will cause bandits grief unless they stick to the roads.
  14. (from original plan) There are barricades on all the roads.
  15. There are bunch of cogs you could use, completely untrained but available… what do you want them to do?

Anything I’ve missed or got wrong?

I'm fine using Morgan's plan by putting the pits off the road to force them toward the ambush. We'll have to, I guess split up the cogs into 4 groups. 1, smallish one, at the Mill with Old Dog, a second larger one at the northern ambush with Oda as the bait and me in the field to the left of the road and the trip wires, a third group, also smaller with Morgan at the stockade, and the final larger one at the north east to run an ambush with Morgan.

Sound OK to everyone?

I think you may have overlooked my post, Morgan went out to talk to the bandit leader, ignoring her is perfectly acceptable, but you should at least comment on doing so intentionally so we know what is going on.

I do apologize, and obviously I did overlook the last 2 lines.  I remember "concludes preparations" bit... but totally missed "come to arrangement".

Busy week by the look of it.  I'll wait till after the 4th to resolve and continue... unless I suddenly get all players checking in with ICs before that. ;)

I am preparing next round right now, but a lot of it is private messages and roll requests, so you have time... And even if do resolve the round without you I see no real problem, jump in when you can.

One more thing... hopefully you don't mind... too many mooks, especially in wave 2.  So I will roll their attacks as a group, but will also reserve the right for +/- 3 deviation.  That is if I have 10 mooks who roll 6 on offense, I will assume that couple of them rolled 9 instead.

Not that it matters in the current exchange, even with +3 no mook got even close to getting through PC defense.

On the downside... should some time mook group roll explode... I will give half of the mooks -6 or something, but you still might find yourself facing half a dozen successful attacks.

Any objection or alternative suggestions to speed up mook processing?

If you have to many mooks you should just roll them in pairs, given the fairly simple math they need to do it shouldn't be to hard to track.

Gentlemen.

I still work overtime with no lunch (well actually more like 15 mins lunch) or coffee breaks.

Unfortunately I have no real ETA on when that will change other then it must end one way or the other sometime in September.

And while I could find time after work – to be frank, I like play-by-post RP but not enough to sacrifice family time or sleep.

I am not ready to throw in the towel just yet, so if you could check the game once a week to see if there are any updated, I would greatly appreciate it.

But I also fully understand if you chose instead to invest your time and effort into games that are actually running.

Once again, my apologies.
