Hello everyone!

So I'm hoping to start with a "Session Zero" of sorts; people talking abut what they want, what are their deal breakers, etc.

I've left this vague so far so that almost any character can fit. I want psychics, wizards, and mundane rogues to all be able to participate. That being said I don't want to do a mystery game if nobody wants to do mystery, or a horror game if no one wants to play horror. So introduce yourself and let us all know what you're looking for!

So just to introduce myself as a DM:

I like experimenting with new and unusual ideas but tend to run into GMs who don't accommodate that because it doesn't fit the world they had in mind so I created this game for people like me who want to try something but never had a chance. I like orcish bards, ratfolk cavaliers riding giant rats aboard pirate ships, or alchemists with a tumor familiar and a pet skunk.

I prefer a grit and gloom to a sugar-coated world were no failure matters. Your character may die.

I'm better at responding to humor with humor the I am at cracking the first joke.

I like building enemies like player characters so that you can't look at a group of goblins and guess how many hit points they have. Also, who ever said that violence is the answer to everything? Treat every fight like a boss or mini-boss fight.

I can't post every day, so this will be a slow to moderate paced game. While you're welcome to post daily, I won't be able to reliably move the story along more than 2-3 times per week. I might give little updates or responses in between but I rarely get much time to sit down and type much in a single sitting.

I don't expect you to write paragraphs upon paragraphs of glowing prose. Just try to make your posts meaningful by moving the story along.

You don't have to respond to every post; just say something occasionally so I know that you're still following along, even if you just describe your character listening intently or picking their nose and examining the booger.

I'm okay with conflict between characters. If the another character steals from you then feel free to yell at them or beat them up. Just don't take it personally. I will not save your character if they or you are a jerk!

The only deal-breakers I can think of is to keep this a non-adult game. You can mention sex, torture, drug use, etc., but don't describe it in detail.

On a more personal note: I have a wife and a 14 month old daughter (first child), I like video games (Zelda BotW is awesome!), I need to lose about 50 pounds of body fat, I'm a perfectionsist, and my dad died recently so forgive me if I'm a little cranky or forgetful at first.

Hi all, I will be playing Chance, a half elf roguish character. He has lots of social skills and limited in combat to mainly simple weapons.

Willing to work on some backstory with anyone.

Hi, I'll play Eduora an idealist and dimwitted would be champion of good and justice.

On sharing backgrounds. Let's see, Chance -any connection to Chance the Gardiner?- where de you come from? are you from a cosmopolitan city or from a humble town? Eudora grew on a small town, but somehow had to make it into a bigger city to become a paladin.

Sorry for the silence, guys; my 4 day weekend got busy with family stuff, lol.

I'm going to post in Players Wanted and I'd like your input on a few things.

First, people have been turned off by the amount of upfront info here, so I've been trying to refine the focus of this game. I think my focus is really on letting people be whatever they want. I'm thinking of ditching:
1) the new alignment system; stick with Good vs Evil and Law vs Chaos
2) the "build your own race system" (or just keeping it in a secret thread for those interested in unique combos of ancestors)
3) a lot of unnecessary explanation: if I say you can use any D&D classes, subclasses, races, and gods then I shouldn't let the game drag and die just to summarize all those options.

Second, as I look at all the stuff that can be done with the spells and magic item technology I had in mind, the world is looking more and more modern. Are you guys okay with a really modern level of technology in the big city? I mean if combine content already in official sources then you can enchant items to pretty much be short-range smartphones, holograms, clothes washing machines, etc. Are you okay with truly modern fantasy in big cities (as opposed to my original idea of Renaissance fantasy) and medieval fantasy in small towns?

I would be up for it. It can be a strange mixture of old and new.

Oh yes, can you unlock our sheets? (click on make editable)

I just noticed I don't remember or can find the basics of character creation (scores roll, point buy or array?, hp: roll or average?)
