Following the defeat of the Sorceress Ultimecia at the hands of Squall Leonhart and his friends the world looked to be saved. With the nations of the world no longer goaded into war by mystical powers beyond comprehension you could be forgiven for thinking that the worst was behind. Now the threat of the Sorceress was no longer there, did anyone need a mercenary force like Garden and her SeeDs anymore?

The answer, unfortunately, was yes.

Now left to their own devices Galbadia, Esthar and others saw the opportunity that this Sorceress-free world presented. They each had their own ideas on how the future could, should, be. Good intentions that began to try and improve the lives of their citizens soon became exercises in ways to deprive others of theirs. Over countless years of suffering people had grown tired of hardship and began to demand their stake in this new world. Governments across the world answered the only way they knew how, expansion, confrontation, conflict. Whether directly or through proxies the world began to spiral towards one inevitable outcome. War.

20 years have now passed and a new breed of SeeD are needed. Men and women ready to fight in the conflicts stirring across the globe. Men and women steeled to fight not-sorceresses but the ambition of their fellows.
