OOC
What classes was everyone thinking about, I was thinking about The Bloodletter, The Beloved, The Hex, The Lyer, The Screw, The Spur, or The Voice.

I can be flexible so I don't mind if everyone else pics first.

Our tastes are very similar then my dude, but Uhh, my original concept fit right into The Voice, but after reading I enjoyed a lot of the classes, but I'll probably follow my original and be a Voice

OOC
Hey all!  Looking forward to it.

My basic ideas were:

Zoltan- Adept - power as a goal unto itself. Wants to use the relatively isolated area up north to grow in power away from the normal centers of power and major adepts, become big fish in small pond before challenging other big fish. Will want to use his powers and knowledge to gain favor and favors from others and build up information network by both mundane and mystical means.

Karl - Gauntlet- ĎThe Avalancheí something you can try to survive but canít stop.  Has come to enjoy the rewards a patron can provide and while he doesnít have big plans himself wants to be along for the ride of someone elseís rise.

Vladimir- Crown - annoyed by petty squabbles among the fractious north, wants to consolidate the region, both for own advancement as well as a sincere belief that it will be better in the long run for the people- at least those who donít get in his way.

So far doesn't look like any overlap.  Maybe once we get a few more players one will suggest itself more strongly, or we might work something out before then.

Did we need to have a talk about how to portray The Screw on the off chance I or someone else decided to play it? What is shown and what is implied? I feel like it'd be helpful to define what's allowed to show and tell in this roleplay since it can go to some dark places.

Well itís Mature, not Adult.  So for everything we should keep it around PG?  Off camera screaming, menace, showing tools etc but explicitly described torture is probably a no-no I would think.

Re: OOC
Any other RTJs in the works, or should we start plotting against with each other on how to set things up?

Well I guess we're still not sure where exactly we start, it should be a good starting point

Re: OOC
So should we start with the collective mythology of Riven or more setting up patrons and the like?

And I've narrowed my interests between these three.

Hans the Bloodletter- wishes to build upon his growing knowledge of human experimentation and improvement by gaining the backing of a patron. Along with his knowledge as a healer he may also make promises of eternal beauty, a tireless body, or ever sought immortality. Give him subjects for his work and a payment and he may even make good on his promises if you're willing to go under his scalpel.

Toll 'The Spear' as The Spur- Toll is a long traveled and even longer lived mercenary whose wound up in Riven, likely to be where his life ends. Having been the leader to his raiding band of the toughest, most unruly bastards known as The Crows for twenty odd years, you make a few enemies. If you're good at what you do and with a little luck you can get those enemies in your employ. Sad thing is as you get older and your famed spear isn't held as high as it used to be, those bastards can't wait to find an opportunity to stab you in the back. Toll's looking for a way to retire...or find a worthy end to his long, bloody life.

Cane as The Beloved- a smooth talker and frequent fraud who delighted in claiming to hear the voices of It. He had quite a following who had no issue with following his and It's whim. One day his following had a new member who cast doubt on Cane and exposed evidence that he was no more than a fraud. Cane was to be killed by his own following in their outrage, but that wasn't the most terrifying thing... It spoke to Cane, offering to spare his life. Not wanting to die, Cane gave himself over and next thing he knew the doubter was dead and the followers he amassed were eager for their prophet's next utterance of It's wisdom and would not tolerate any lies. Cane is loved by Itand now knows true, unwavering fear and faith.
