Temple of Amaris - Zen's Blue Room (Harem)
The center of the Harem is also dominated by a tree. The tree is a gorgeous Magnolia tree, and many of the women and men within the walls of the harem are decorated with Magnolia blooms in one way or another. Zen calls eir concubines and spouses "Flowers" and the floral aspect of the grounds, statuary, and building design echoes this theme. There are not only women and men, but exotic shifters, chosen vampires, numbers, and rare animals here.

Around the grounds are neatly laid out flower beds and stone gardens that some of the harem members usually are seen working at. Servants attend to the concubines, most of these being human women.

A pale rose chair is set up for the favorite in the garden, and he or she gets the biggest room,  both empty for now.

Tabitha's nose began to scrunch with a subtle internal rage. The lack of emotion from her vampire attacks had made her completely repel Zen mentally. Her thoughts tip toes to forbidden things, imagining the espionage and conflict inside the castle walls. Still, a dog eat dog world was better than the rotting, depraved farmlands she came from.

Her face softened ever so slightly as a floral perfume rolled across her face. Colours seemed brighter, almost like a rosť filter. "This-" The pink muscle in her mouth became swollen, feelings tying knots into her tongue. She exhaled, letting the feeling suffocate and burn out. And I'm supposed to stay here? Trapped in Heaven.

Temple of Amaris - Zen's Blue Room (Harem)
Two large cats, one that looked like a tiger, and one that looked like a leopard, sprung up and padded over to Zen as *e pulled Tabitha into the harem room. As they walked, they shifted into two women. The one that was a tiger became a beautiful woman with orange and blonde hair that was thick and straight, ending at her shoulders. She was naked as the day she was born after shifting. She pulled a sari off the ground and wrapped it around her waist. The other woman, also wrapping a sari around her naked body didn't change completely from cat. Spotted fur was all over her body and her face still was feline. Her black hair was short and spiky. Both of them had brilliant green eyes.

They bowed at Zen then smiled at Tabitha, "Welcome." the tiger said with a purring voice.

"Jafa and Solis, so nice of you to come greet your new sister." Zen cooed as e stroked the tiger's hair. E turned to Tabitha and waved a hand at the tiger. "This is Jafa, and my other flower's name is Solis. They will help you with your room and introduce you to the others."

Tabitha's body grew stiff as two large cats approached, almost striking into a flight or fight reaction. She stepped behind Zen, wary of the new figures. As soon as they became humanoid, her eyes fleeting to the ground, almost naive and uncomfortable around nudity.

She looked up at Zen as her arms crawled around her stomach, as if an ill secret was swarming beneath her skin. Beneath her own robes were hanging ribs, and several scars of questionable manners. Particularly bite marks, but there was one mark, almost like a sigil, seared into her soft skin. Tabitha couldn't see if Zen had managed to smooth them out with healing magic, but the memories were certainly impaled into her brain.

"Zen?" Tabitha breathed, her knuckles running into the fabric of her attire. She peered across the room, all sorts of strange figures stood before her. It seemed Zen had an interest in collecting miscellaneous things, specifically magic users and plants. The greenery caught her attention, flora she has never seen before. Tabitha was acquainted with vegetation, working in farmlands, but didn't recognize any plants in the room, apart from any trees sprouting fruits. She found the idea of fertile soil comforting, and could see herself pruning plants and digging her fingers into the earth. It brought a warm smile on her face, easing any tension.

"I'm Tabitha Jewn."

Temple of Amaris - Zen's Blue Room (Harem)
The feline women both smiled and Zen motioned over a tall, spindly looking man covered in the most amazing tattoos. The tattoos glowed and shifted on his body. Physically, the man was not much to look at. He had protruding eyes that were a sallow shade of yellow brown, and a weak chin with a large overbite. His hair was equally unimpressive in an ash brown shade that was cropped close to his head. He was wearing soft cotton pants and no shirt. It was obvious that it wasn't always physical beauty that Zen found delightful. For this man, it was his art. The man was a Number, judging by the fangs, and his lack of ostentatious beauty that a Brethren would have.

At the right wall were three women gathered around a small waterfall with their backs turned. Their Saris were wrapped loosely around their hips as they swished at the falls with their hands and dipped their feet into the pool below. On their backs were more of the illustrious tattoos which shifted and swayed. One girl's back looked like a garden of orchids, each one shivering and looking as though one could pluck it from her skin and smell the sweet fragrance.

Zen put a hand on the man's arm. "This is Luca. If you wish, he can make you a beautiful tapestry to hide your scars. Each one of his artworks are different. He makes them according to your true soul."

E smiled at her expectantly, then heard the cry at the door. Eir smile fell into a grimace. "I so hate when he calls me Father. My sister within bore the brat. He sounds so strange. Hmmm..." The bishop eyed the door.

Tabitha kept a wary eye as the rugged Number approached her. Whilst his glowing markings would've drawn her like a moth to a flame, Tabitha refused to admire his handiwork, rather forcing herself to stare at his mouth. It was a cold reminder, a severe smack of reality. According to your true soul... Both humans and vampires believe the other has none. She grunted, hugging herself numbly. Her fingertips carefully grazed over her stomach, which grew into a fist. She had memories of rankism, towering adults who were tyrants of parenthood and religious duty. "Especially Magic Users," she mouthed, barely audible, just a dry crack from her throat.

She peered up at Luca, acknowledging him properly for the first time, "No, thankyou, I don't want to make any changes." She tilted her head towards Zen, "It reminds me of what I am, what I have done, what others can do. I mustn't forget." An awkward pause, before she added, "Those are my wishes, unless you want me to look like them." Her brows scrunched softly, almost discomfort at her accommodation towards her role of a Flower to Zen, yet she realized Zen may not tolerate all restless human desires. She could have body modification, a transformation, rebirth. A sharp bang interrupted her thoughts.

Her body turned towards the sound of a frantic voice behind the blue door, directed at Zen. Father? She peered up at Zen, their androgynous features creating a fog around their biological sex. With the mention of father, Tabitha was safe to assume he was a patriarchal figure, more masculine in nature.

"Shall I get the door?" She mumbled, almost uncertain of her own restrictions as a Flower. She was hesitant, her hand hovering over the door. She felt so small, her eyes begining to trace the boundaries of the room: foot walls and a blue door. She was begining to realize that she truly was a Flower, a rare specimen in a collection of odd things.

Zen put a hand to eir mouth as *e looked at the women by the falls, considering. One of the girls, feeling the bishop's eyes on her turned her body slightly so she could look back at the originator. She was a vision, an obvious Brethren with her perfect face and the playful fangs that popped out as she wiggled her fingers at Zen, but the next girl that turned was an obvious human as her beauty was a bit more subdued. What wasn't subdued was the total look of adoration in her eyes as she lifted herself off the ground and adjusted her sari so that she could go to her beloved one. The one with the orchids was just about to turn, noticing the activity of her companions, but before she could, a knock on the door occurred.

All of the individuals in the garden turned and began to scamper towards the doors at the back behind the chair, and the left side until just Tabitha and Zen her in the garden. Zen pulled Tabitha so that she was in back of em and shook eir head, "No, Pretty. I will open it. Please stand back and go into one of the doors if there is trouble. I do not recognize the voice."

The Bishop turned towards the door again and opened it.

"What in the heavens..."

--> From: Zen's Garden -->

Chen had been confused by Zen's actions. She had expected threats, even attacks, and counted being dismissed as the best of outcomes, but here Zen almost went out of the way to make her feel comfortable. Whether that was for the safe return of Long or not she did not know, though she figured herself to barely have been involved with that, if at all.

While she had been trying to process what was happening, she gave a small yelp as Zen shoved her through the Blue Door, again minding his strength enough to remain within human thresholds so as not to harm her. Inside was... almost breathtaking. There was a large tree at the center of it, carefully tended to given the amount of buds ready to spring open into flowers once spring would start in a couple of weeks or so. There seemed to be flower beds and stone gardens everywhere she looked, and women -- some elaborately tattooed -- tending to them.

She took a few hesitant steps further into the room before remembering where she was, and what had just happened. Giving her head a little shake, she crouched down and began listening at the door at the conversation taking place just outside of it, not caring how it would appear to others inside: She trusted her magic to take care of such things.

-- From Zen's Garden --

Tabitha gasped as she stumbled back behind the door, a sharp heave of air escaping her lungs as the door slammed shut. Her eyes grew wide with surprise, capturing the other Flowers gazes. The new specimen, Tabitha was, yet she would rather be discreet. She had every desire to press herself against the door, avoiding the other Flowers, yet concerned shadowed her face. She heard the mention of magic users, and she tensed.

Tabitha pushed herself away from the blue door, grunting as she staggered across the garden. Visions of sliced throats stained her mind like a retinal shadow. She felt herself push past bodies, and Tabitha began to jog. She reached the other side, fingertips scaling the walls, feeling for a doorway.

She heard horrified screams from the other side, and sprinted back to the blue door. It was Zen's voice, but the resonance was torn by fury. She felt her palms bang against the door. She waited, listened. Her eyes darted to Chen, then the door. She began to feel a hollowing sensation in her stomach, whether it was anxiety or her odd powers reacting and feeling repulsive.

"Zen?" Tabitha croaked, her desperate pleas muffling through the door.

Jafa had come out to try to pull the rest of the girls that had held back from returning to the safety of the inner rooms. She saw the new Flower and another woman crouching near the gates and approached them. "Come, you are safer in the inner rooms. None can enter inside the rooms save Zen and our servants." Her voice sounded like a low purr.

She crouched down with them and smiled, showing long incisors.

Chen looked at Jafa, taking a deep breath as she showed her incisors. It reminded her of an animal licking its lips in anticipation of its prey, though she knew she was quite jaded when it came to vampires. The offer seemed genuine enough, and it was true that having two doors between her and an Originator and someone powerful enough to tick one off was better than just the one, so she decided to take Jafa up on her offer.

- "Much appreciated. Just... do me a favor and try not to show off your incisors? I do find it somewhat unnerving."

She glanced at the woman who had come to stand next to her at the door, banging against it to create a sound that felt much harder than it was in her mind. The last thing she wanted was to draw even more attention to herself right now, at least until the immediate danger outside had passed.

"Would that I could, little Flower." Jafa said with a chuff. "I am a shifter, and my teeth stay as they are." She rubbed the golden silk border of the draping sleeve of her royal blue silk saree. The garment clung to her curves like a lover, and fluted into soft pleats at her feet.

"It was good that they were more interested in what was in the garden than what is in here. I hear the Venatrix leaving with Long."

She rose up from the crouch and walked towards the door on the left. The inner courtyard was now empty, save for the three women. All the other flowers and retreated to the inner rooms.

Zen closed the door and risked at eir appearance. "Forgive my state Lovelies. The venatrix set fire to my tree and I had to save it. My poor old Jasmine!"

E looked at the two who were huddled near the door and then at Jafa. "Go get our poor pretties some tea mmm?"

Jafa purred as she curtsied then sauntered through a door.

- "Then i apologize for the offense my words may have caused."

Chen gave Jafa a small bow to lend credence to her words. While Shifters were the only ones she knew of to have a lower standing than magic users such as herself, it was an important distinction to make that said standing was from the point of view of vampires, and sticking to their customs was something she only saw fit to do when the situation called for it, which was to say, as little as humanly possible. Literally humanly possible in her case.

When Zen came back in, she could almost physically feel her guard slamming back into place, her mind reinforcing her defenses against one of the many things he could do to her as even an afterthought, but keeping the signs from being outwardly visible -- if they had, she did not doubt the hair on her neck would be standing on end. Instead, she focused on her spell again and being generally courteous to Zen's niceties, though her wariness kept it from sounding truly genuine. Though what part of it could be blamed on Zen walking in in his underwear she did not know.

- "Yes, i may have overheard something along those lines from beyond the door. Setting fire to a tree to spite you does sound rather petty, the Venatrix, she does not care about offending an Originator?"

Of course, while her words were perfectly respectable, she wasn't going to pass up on such an opportunity to call the Venatrix, the one tasked with hunting people like her, things like 'petty' when the context allowed for it.

A few women scurried out from a door with a dark blue robe edged in white. The white edging had a silver leaf design imprinted upon it. Zen shrugged into the robe as Chen mentioned what she considered pettiness from the venatrix. E tapped eir lip with a single talon like nail as a grin spread. "Ah, as far as the other three go, I am the one that was left. Hmmm... never mind it. Have a care what you say in the walls of the temples. They not only have ears, but tongues that wag, little bloom."

Jafa had brought out the tea, which she placed on an ornate table next to the second jasmine tree in the courtyard of the harem. She bowed and pointed towards the door to the room, "The new flower felt faint, so I let her rest."

Zen nodded then directed Chen towards the table with a wave of eir hand. "Come. Sit."

- "Duly noted, Originator."

Chen gave another half-curtsy, her response attempting to subtly stress that he too was an Originator all the same, while following his advice to not actually say it. When she was invited for tea by a now clothed Zen, she moved over to sit down seiza style across the table from him. She had considered leaving, but it was likely the Venatrix was still stalking the area, so remaining here for a few more minutes would work out better for her in the end. Even if it did make her feel as if she were holding an arm into the lion's mouth.

As Jafa poured the tea and set out small pies filled with various fruit, Zen studied the girl intently. There was still a bit of edginess to eir demeanor that e was trying very hard to maintain in front of eir Flowers. Eir pinkish blue eyes studied the woman from the top of her head to the tips of her toes, Eir elaborately painted talon on eir left index finger pressed against the swell of eir bottom lip.

Jafa came behind Zen and tried to make the lengthy tangle of eir shining white hair presentable. She also seemed to be studying the human with an intense interest.

"Where did you come from, hmm?" Zen asked with a tilt of eir lips. "I am generally aware of the stock of humans from every Brethren in our fair country, and I've not seen one like you. Where did you travel from, and with whom?"

- "You are well informed then, for I do not consider myself part of any stock. Fortunately, my magic assists me in ensuring it remains that way."

The way Chen emphasized 'stock', compressing an amount of disdain and outright disgust into the lone word that surprised even herself, did little to hide her opinion of the practice. It was understandable, of course, with her being human and all, but did more than hint at a history of having been at the receiving end at some point.

- "As for me, i've traveled alone, the meeting with your son -- or daughter now, i suppose -- one of chance."

She left out that she had felt she needed to be there at that time during her daily meditations earlier that morning. There were some things she'd rather keep to herself, especially those with far greater potential for abuse than her personally remaining unnoticed.

Zen's brows raised at her bald confession that she possessed magic. E didn't make any comment, finding that biding eir time and allowing the comfort of their passive persuasion loosen a person's tongue more.

"Sounds so... lonely! Where might you be headed?"

Jafa had finished untangling Zen's hair and twisted it up until it was in a fat ponytail that kept it off the ground.

Zen offered Chen a plate of cookies.

Chen accepted one of the cookies, and began nibbling on it, occasionally switching to taking a sip of her tea.

- "Nowhere in particular, really. As you can understand, there is no real fondness between me and the vast majority of the vampire population, and the farms aren't much of an option either."

And that was the simple truth of it. Vampires either hated her for being a spellcaster, were disdainful of her being human, those feelings being mutual for her meant that she likely couldn't get along with human loyalist settlements either, and the farms would place her right back where she fled from in the first place. Her magic was a blessing in that regard, even with the Hunters after her for it.

The Bishop tapped one of eir long nails on the table as *e considered the girl. "You are so free about admitting to an Originator that you are a magic user - and right in the midst of all my flowers."

The inhabitants of Zen's Flower room had filtered out of the safety of the inner rooms and were lounging here and there once more. A couple more men were visible this time. One had left with various garden tools to tend to the tree in the outer courtyard.

"Thank you, Raif. You know that tree means the world to me. I hope you will save it."

Raif, a tall man with chin-length, straight, blue-black hair that was pulled back in a low pony tail nodded at the bishop with affection. He looked, by his olive complexion, like he came from Morfolo, but his eyes were a startling blue. He was handsome in a pleasant, neighborly way with regular features, a slightly pointed chin, and a ready smile. "Of course, your grace, I know it well."

Zen turned back to Chen with a smile lighting up eir face. "Are you not afraid of me, hmm?"

- "I assumed you would have already guessed it, why else would one be so eager to hide from the Venatrix as i am?"

Chen sipped her tea again, before placing the cup down.

- "And yes, i do fear you. But in this situation, which i can neither run, hide nor, of course, fight my way out of, there is nothing to be gained from panicking. Quite the opposite, the Venatrix might be drawn by the commotion which would only worsen my position."

Just then, a lovely woman with pink hair flew out of one of the rooms with a cry, "My Love! The new Flower has perished!"

The woman prostrated herself quickly, "I do not know why! I only know that she's dead!"

Chen frowned for a moment, and moved to follow Zen. With Zen's own offspring being arrested, she had a feeling they would still be searching the area for a magic-wielding scapegoat, and she had no intention of providing one. That, and she knew all too well that the woman who had apparently just died had not been all too far away from her when Zen had been at the other end of the door earlier, running now might falsely incriminate her more than she might already have been.
