Ophilia seeing Eliza rush to help the little man joined her friend moving to help.
"Hold on Eliza."

Attacking the same one as Eliza (If the others don't get their first. If they do she moves to flank the one on the other side of Cormac.)

Swinging the walking stick in swishy swishy motions to help try and throw the creatures off and help.

Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

They were winning the battle, and Leleanne's healing was making a difference. This made the young priestess feel more confident, and she thought about how else she could influence the skirmish.

A thought occurred to her; Darvus had taught her how to befuddle opponents by using a simple touch. It wasn't something Leleanne had used before in anger, but she decided now was a good time.

Leleanne moved forward, and touched the goblin in between Eliza and Cormac.

Move to L11

Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

Her wounds healed and her assailants being eaten by wolves, Jasna paused for a moment to take in the battlefield, just in time to see Cormac take a mean-looking hit from a dogslicer.

Leleanne's divine healing soon had him put right, and she moved forward to befuddle one of the cruel little creatures.  Deciding to follow the priestess's example, Jasna joined the throng and took a swing at the nearest goblin.

Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

Cormac gritted his teeth as the cutter sliced across his arm and drew back.  But almost as soon as the pain started it faded and the blood never ran like it should.  He caught sight of the other defenders charging to his aid and grinned, "You're for it now!"  Now on the outnumbering side, Cormac focused on one of the goblins with a furious series of high-speed rabbit punches...

Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

OOC Summary: combat over, goblins all dead, take a breather, maybe introduce yourselves if you don't know each other.

Seeing more danger, Rini charged one of the goblins attacking the halfling, but missed with her weapon. Flint moved to intercept the one at the well, but fared no better than his mistress.

Cormac's martial arts connected solidly twice with the goblin behind him, ending it. Meanwhile Eliza took advantage of the hex on the other and just managed to connect with her dagger, finishing it off.

The only goblin left was near the well. Jasna moved towards it, but wasn't able to close the distance. The goblin, on the other hand, now burned twice and seeing the big half-orc that had begun his torment, charged at her in a rage, taking his eyes off of Flint. That was it's last mistake, as the wolf took advantage of the opening to snap at the goblin with powerful jaws, ending its threat.

With the immediate threat passed, the group has time to look around and assess their situation. The group is relatively unharmed, with only Cormac showing a slight wound that Leleanne's channel hadn't been able to heal (10/11 hitpoints). Amazingly, despite nearly being disemboweled twice, Jasna showed no sign of the trauma.

While the immediate attack had passed, it was clear the attack on Sandpoint had not. Sounds of pandemonium echo through the air. Goblins race everywhere around the outskirts of the clear space the group has made, running amok and singing and slashing indiscriminately. One grabs a chicken from a market stall and rushes off, apparently with lunch? Another appears to be trying to fit a necklace over its over-sized head with no luck. It quickly gives up and runs off down an alley after a fleeing cat. Another stabs a dead dog over and over and over, kicks it cackles in glee then runs off with arms overhead like a conquering hero. At least half a dozen plumes of smoke rise from the sky around town, and an alarm bell rings in the distance.

Leleanne sighed with relief as the initial fighting was over. It was only then she realised there was disruption on a much wider scale. The priestess heard Ophilia mention hers and Eliza's shop, and panic rose in her.

"I have to go to the cathedral! My sisters could be in danger. Thank you everyone for defending the town."

“Best to hunt as a pack. There are many more of the creatures ransacking the city. If we move together and work as a unit we can clear them as we head toward your shop.”

Calling Flint back to her side, Rini made ready to move with the others. She hooked the knotted wooden cudgel back to her belt and withdrew her sling. Placing another smooth stone in the leather thong, she held it loosely in her hand as they moved.

“I’m Rini by the way.”

"Well thank you, friend."  Flint gets a grateful ear-ruffling for dealing with the last goblin.

Catching her breath, Jasna turns to the others with a motion that's either a very deep nod or a very lazy bow.  "Jasna, for them that don't know me.  I'd call it a pleasure, but..."  She waves a hand at the aftermath and grimaces.  "Think Rini's got the right of it, we don't work half-bad together for a bunch of folk in the wrong place at the right time.  Anyone hurt?  I can put it right."

"Aside from wishin' I had armor on, there's nothin' important in my little place, so lead the way.  Prob'ly wise not to give the little terrors anything that goes boom."  She nods to Ophillia.

Cormac takes the moment to check over his arm and what's left of the small weal of a wound there, "Had worse..."  He then caught on to the continued chaos and the general group discussion, adding, "Agree on not letting these beasties get anything of the sort and the idea of sticking as a group with some direction.  Knock what little heads as we can while we go along.  Lot of need out there."  Looking around at the havoc, the bloody knuckled halfling suggested, "Might try to find the Sheriff and his lot.  Bet he's got a plan."  A final afterthought, "Cormac."  Once movement began in a direction, he drew out a sling as well to begin his personal skull cracking crusade...

Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

As the group introduced themselves, they noticed activity on the cathedral steps. Despite not yet being blessed formally, it was a sturdy and fully built structure, and a place for the wounded to collect. Father Zanthus and the sisters moved through crowds of bleeding and frightened people helping where they could. There was no sign of the town guard, who were presumably off fighting goblins in other parts of town. Goblins still race everywhere, slashing and burning and cackling with glee.

They began to move off South down the high street to check out Brimstone and Spirits when suddenly a bloom of a fireball erupts from a nearby wagon. A group of goblins has found the cart full of fuel for the sunset bonfire and has lit it on fire! An group of five goblins is lighting torches from the cart, presumably hoping to burn more of the town! They see your group and charge at it, shrieking in delight. One of them looks different from the others, armed with a whip and a short bow, she is one of the chanters singing that horrific catchy song that drives the others into a frenzy.

Goblins have 15 initiative, 20 for the warchanter. They're armed with torches and dogslicers, except for the warchanter at V22 who has a whip and short bow. Go ahead and roll your initiative and post actions. See map for group A which you should all have access too - let me know if you don't. Any square that contains a tent or building is impassible and provides cover. Any that contains a table or barrel etc. counts as difficult terrain and provides partial cover. The raised platform counts as high ground, though moving into it counts as 10' of movement.

"The store? But why would-" Eliza's face freezes as she takes in the sheer number of goblins that have invaded Sandpoint. Tiny, nosy grelims who loved fire and explosions.

The tiefling's expression quickly morphs into one of absolute horror;

"The shop!"
she echoes, almost screaming the phrase as she runs after Ophilia, "oh gods- oh no- oh please no-"

The sudden fireball nearly made her heart jump out of her throat, but it was thankfully just a cart. Horrible yes, but just a cart of fuel and not her home and inheritance.

"We can't-" she blurts out, frantic, "we can't waste time here. I- I need to make sure that they didn't- that my shop-" the normally composed alchemist is clearly blabbering, eyes darting wildly as she searches for a means around the hostile goblins.

08:10, Today: Eliza rolled 9 using 1d20+3.  Initiative.
Eliza will probably try to zip past the gobs to her shop, stabbing any goblins who try to get in her way.

"Hey now, don't fret.  We'll put paid to this bunch quick enough."  Jasna put a calming hand on Eliza's shoulder and moved to intercept the horrid hooligans, pausing to see if Ophilia's magic did the trick.

If any remain awake, she once again wagged her finger like a schoolmarm with naughty students.  "Fire, little ones?  Well, we can't have that."

In seconds, a storm blows up.  A very small storm.  The size of a single goblin, in fact.

OOC: Move to M18.

Leleanne felt a little helpless. Stood there in a dress, with no weapon, and no offensive magic to speak of, she wasn't sure what do to.

She looked around, hoping to find something she could use as a weapon. Leleanne saw a stall a few steps away, and move to it. Resting against that stall was a staff. Leleanne picked it up, and got ready to defend herself.

Goblin warchanter shoots her shortbow at Rini before the other goblins get in its way and hits her for 3 damage. Other goblins just move and brandish torches. See map update.

Re: Chapter 1: Festival and Fire

The goblins act first, moving towards the group, torches waving overhead threateningly, with two moving around the nearby tent on the south side and three with the warchanter moving to the north of it near the raised platform. Unable to reach them yet, the two near the platform pause and enter what passes as a combat stance if you're a goblin, while the other two watch the group, looking like they are ready to cut them off if they run. The warchanter uses its bow to shoot Rini for minor damage.

Jasna moved to close with the closest goblin. The little bugger rewarded the favor and hit her with his torch! She used her weather powers to harass the warchanter, and he hit her again! (takes total of 5 damage from readied attach and AoO). To further add insult, her ability missed the warchanter entirely, who stopped singing just for a second to give her a raspberry, on the beat no less.

Ophilia moved behind Rini and healed her back to full health. Rini shot with her sling but missed, and Flint held his position beside his mistress, eagerly waiting to taste goblin flesh, but none was offered. cormac did better with his sling, nearly knocking the goblin he hit off its feet. The little beast staggered from the impact, but shook it off, not quite out of the fight yet.

Eliza ran off to check her shop, but two goblins gave chase and cut her off! (I'm assuming you use two move actions to move. You're actually 1 or 2 squares further south, but I didn't want to do a new map! apologies)

Leleanne grabbed a staff and got ready to fight!

OOC: Initiative

Goblin warchanter - 20
Goblin warriors -   15
Jasna               13
Ophilia             13
Rini and Flint      11
Eliza                9
Cormac               9
Leleanne             5

I won't post a map at the end of round 1, but will do so for round 2 after goblins go. Will do that combat post next, give me a sec to post it :-) Everyone is full health except Jasna (this is turning into a common story!) who is down to 5/10 hit points. The goblin who ends this round at Q18 is down to 2/6 hit points, the rest are healthy.
