Re: Out of Character Chat

The stables at the inn can accomodate six horses,
while the rest can be looked after by a farmer for a single gold piece.

The inn can provide breakfast and lodgings for 1 GP each,
while the nearby tavern can provide an evening meal for between 1 - 5 SP each.

Adventurers will see a few people staggering from the tavern to the inn
(or to their homes) after enjoying a few-too-many drinks.

Regarding the Sergeant :
How / where / etc will you organise to see him ?

Re: Out of Character Chat

Ok, to move things along, let's assume the following occurs :

- adventurers enter One Ford and discover that there isn't enough room at either stables to accomodate all the horses they have with them.

- adventurers go shopping, selling much loot !

- adventurers stop at the INN, paying for rooms, breakfast and the care of six horses, costing a total of 5 GP.

- adventurers also stop at a FARM at the edge of town, paying for the care of the remainder of the horses, costing a total of 1 GP.

-----

Here's where it's not quite clear, yet :

- adventurers speak to some local soldiers, telling them of their intentions to speak to Sergeant Jones, and that they will be at the TAVERN in the evening.

- adventurers then visit the TAVERN for an evening meal, and wait for Sergeant Jones to arrive.

or

- adventurers visit the MILITIA KEEP to seek out Sergeant Jones, before visiting the TAVERN for their evening meal.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Kvanlanir, a long-time player, who had been in NPC-mode for quite a while,
has decided to properly leave the game, and been removed.

I'm okay with four players. Seems to work fine.

Do you guys think we need more ?
Should I open the game up to more players ?

I think it’s a good team. If you think we need new blood, maybe one more, but I’m ok with this group

Re: Out of Character Chat

Sergeant Jones will be cared for overnight by the tavern staff and his soldiers.

Does the party want to do anything else tonight ?

If not, we'll move along to the next day.
Feel free to post your activities for the morning.

I assume the plan is to continue southwards to Hardby,
for some possible buying/selling,
and perhaps to try and learn more about the bandits and Cairns ?

What the party knows :

There are four Cairns called Star Cairns.
The bandits are using one as their hideout.
The Cairns are very old underground structures,
often originally used as tombs.
Some Cairns have interesting histories,
and many have been re-purposed into hideouts or lairs.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Per my last post, what would be a decent offer to people who come along to the carin? Maybe half of all loot split between those that survive? (We split half between us 4, plus get first dibs on magic items)

Re: Out of Character Chat

I hope everyone has had or is having a good Easter.

Where I live (Australia) it's a public holiday on Good Friday and Easter Monday,
but I have to work both of those days.
Ugh ! Still ... double-time pay for those days.

So, is the rough plan for the adventurers something like :

- retrieve the horses from the stables and farm,
- leave One Ford, riding horses, carrying loot,
(I will have to check what's left of the bandit loot.)
- head south to Hardby,
- try to sell more loot, buy some supplies,
- head east into the hills/mountains to the bandit lair.

All the while keeping an eye and ear out for Elora the Priestess.
Whatever did happen to her ?
Where has she gone ?
Hmmmm .....

https://dungeons.fandom.com/wi...of_Greyhawk_Timeline

This is a good reference / resource.

579    Events of The Temple of Elemental Evil. - awesome classic module !!!

584    The Wars end with a general peace treaty, the Pact of Greyhawk. On the same day, Rary instigates a massive magical battle within the Great Hall and attempts to assassinate the other members of the Circle of Eight, killing only Otiluke and Tenser before fleeing into the Bright Desert to form his own kingdom.

Anyway, the current year for our campaign is 586 CY.

Re: Out of Character Chat

Will it be easier buying horses in town, or at the ranch where the horses were stolen from?

Re: Out of Character Chat

You can most likely purchase some rescued horses from the ranch where they were originally stolen from.

- go to ranch
- say "hi, we have your horses. can we buy some of them plz?"

Alternatively, you could avoid the ranch altogether, and keep the horses, or try to sell them in Hardby.
This is probably not honorable or wise, but I'm not here to stop you doing such things.
