I think you got the distances wrong, though.
The squares on the map are 10', so the bandits are quite a distance from you.

i'm sorry...i thought you said each square was 5 foot. my mistake

Silence spell has a range of 120',
so you may need to stand near the hay-bails
(those things near the horses on the map).

I'm good with the plan we had before of picking them off them waiting for more to come out, then rinse repeat. That sort of thing.

there's a few seconds to act before they make their move.

- Matrim has decided to hold his position.
- Talianythn is casting sacred flame.
- Bhelmyr ?
- Myra ?

- The hirelings will also act.
- Gilthan will shoot.
- Sally and the others will do something, etc.

Don't worry about initiative just yet.
I'll have the adventurers act, then hirelings, then bandits.

Bhelmyr's still got some spell slots left, but healing word only goes so far, even if you can cast it 4 or 5 times in a row. He'll keep an eye on the wounded, and on the entrance.

I have a 3rd level spell slot, one second and 4 1st. I'm trying to save it but the silence spell (though effective) helped eat some of her slots

I've got 3 1st, 1 3rd and 2 spell points, which can be used to twin two 1st level healing words, or recover another 1st level slot. Though it'd probably be more useful to cast sleep than healing word.
