Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

DM:
Bhelmyr. the clothes are old and dirty rags.

The barrel under the clothes, as well as the other barrels and crates in this room, contain raw iron ore, finished horse-shoes, spoiled cider, stale bread, and leather-working tools.

The crates and barrels have markings on them from multiple merchant houses,
indicating them to probably be stolen property.

No sound can be heard from either the north-east, or south-east passageway.

"This a strange puzzle indeed. On the one hand we have a virtual army of Zombies attack us. On the other this arrangement of sundry stolen items, hardly the fare a necromantic cult would desire. Are these deranged cultists or a band of brigands?" Gnorlin says while rubbing his head.

Ready to proceed down Northern hallway when the rest are ready.

Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

"Maybe they used to be brigands," Bhelmyr muses, "then the cult made zombies of them."

North passage is fine with me. Ready when you guys are.

Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

With the illusory Gnorlin ahead of the real Gnorlin, the adventurers continue.

Both T7 caverns are empty.
The ground in both T7 areas has large areas that are dirt and dust free.
The smell of undead is here. Perhaps many undead stood around here, shuffling their feet.

T8 is a forgotten tomb.
This small chamber contains a stone sarcophagus inlaid with silver. The lid lies on its side before the now empty sarcophagus.
The face carved into the stone of the lid depicts an imperious nobleman.
A symbol of a skull in a halo of flame is carved at the head and foot of the sarcophagus.

The curious illusory Gnorlin and real Gnorlin venture a short distance further through the narrow passageways beyond these chambers.
The passageways all contain rough old stone stairs, leading downwards as the chambers wind their way around the central blood-pit-waterfall. (see maps)

Gnorlin spots a few skinny rats scratching and sniffing in the passageway nearby ...

Re: Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

Gnorlin takes a quick look around the abandoned tomb...
DM:
A symbol of a skull in a halo of flame is carved at the head and foot of the sarcophagus.

"If this were a tavern and I had an ale that would be really cool, but here I would say that's just terrifying. I shant touch it in any way!"
he whispers to himself and anyone else who can hear.

He then continues to venture forward following his illusionary self.

Continue to wind down and south...

MATRIM still has advantage on stealth rolls (1 hour duration)

Xander directs the copy of Gnorlin to continue down the passageway. The copy looks concerned, tip toeing south.

Re: Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

The adventurers continue south, pushing illusory Gnorlin ahead of the group.

Xander takes a quick look over the edge of the blood pit-lake.
He sees that the route southward, beyond area T9, will lead to a narrow downward staircase, which then leads to a small platform to stand on at the south-side of the lake of gently-rippling blood.

As illusory Gnorlin is pushed forward, tip-toeing south, he appears to swat at something on his leg.
A small skinny rat scurries away.

Illusory Gnorlin swats another rat away, and this one runs past Gnorlin and Matrim before disappearing into a tiny hole in the wall.
Gnorlin, Matrim  and Xander notice that the rats bones could be seen ! It was a small undead rat !

Illusory Gnorlin swats at more and more small undead rats as he continues to obey orders and tiptoe south.

Gritting his teeth with disgusted surprise at seeing undead rats Gnorlin peers down the hallway.

"Definitely DO NOT drink the water! Something here is turning everything into zombies, even the rats!"

Re: Chapter Two : Greyhawk City

Gnorlin peers down the passageway, watching illusory Gnorlin tip-toe south.

Illusory Gnorlin is not injured in any way by the small undead rats,
although the rats do attempt to bite and scratch the illusion.

Gnorlin notices a few more tiny holes at the bottom of the stone walls,
where the small undead rats scurry to or from.

The tiny holes become more numerous in the south-ward passageway.

Illusory Gnorlin has between four and six small undead rats climbing on him at any moment.
The small undead rats are becoming more numerous, too.

A sleep spell but i have no idea if it works on undead.  We could try the oil? I could draw the rats to a pool of oil and we could light it?

"Let's try this then. Xander could you help me with some sound. I shall create an illusionary fire and move it towards them. Let's see if we can scare them off." Gnorlin says and he waves his hand in front of him. A noiseless fire springs up in front of him and he moves it slowly down the hallway.

Minor Illusion (racial trait) of a bonfire. (I forgot I had this ability....)
