Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

Raieylan shook the offerd hands with a nod.  He picked ip the wickednlooking dagger and turned it in his hand. "Northwest there are two zombies....they were watching me when I escaped."

He smiled as he looked at them. "Luckily their not smart or fast."

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

Raieylan feels that there's something extraordinary about the dagger.
Looking at the other adventurers going over the loot,
Raieylan also notices that the cloak Matrim is handling has changed in size,
(or is he imagining it?) and that it, too, may be extraordinary.

Raieylan also remembers that he was ambushed not too far away,
and that perhaps he might be able to search the area and find his missing gear.

Elora looks to what remains of the body of Bandish, saying,
"This is usually a peaceful place. I wonder if he would have minded if it was his final resting place ...
Anyone good with a shovel?"

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

Myra quietly slips on the leather boots then returned to standing watching the last direction she saw the shadows move in with a sort of dread on her face. She didn't like the thought of those shadows, but she was cautious of their possible return. As for the dead comrade, there was nothing that she could do for that. She wished him safe travels in the world beyond and that was it. She said a small prayer saying as much, "Save travels in the world beyond."

Just a reminder that there is also the slain huge human,
who was wearing black plate armor, and wielded a greataxe.

Myra, the defeated zombies were either nude or wearing only rags.
You find on the huge human his black plate armor, his greataxe and 80 GP.

The black plate armor appears to be finely made,
while the greataxe is very finely made and ... extraordinary !

The halfling woman drags the armor and greataxe over to the Goliath. "Can you use either of these two things?" She holds up the armor and the axe as best she can.

Bhelmyr says to Elora, "I'll dig. But first, does anyone mind if I take something to remember him by?" He examined the Bandish's possessions for any keepsakes that look they would have carried sentimental or better yet, religious value. He left anything of a more material value behind.

While Bhelmyr digs a hole (at the base of the hill?),
Matrim puts on the cloak and swings the greataxe around.
The greataxe feels very balanced.
Perhaps even a little too balanced, as though it is extraordinary !

Matrim will hold onto the items to investigate them further.

"I fear the plate would not let me be as effective during battle. Thank you for bringing it over to me though Myra.

You said the ghosts are still there, Elora? Good. Are we staying here until first light then?
As for her...
"

Matrim spends some time collecting rags from the fallen zombies, then binds and gags Nija with them. Firmly (hogtied, for a convenient handle for carrying later).

Myra took a good look at the armor as she continued holding it. "Perhaps this armor could fetch a pretty coin, then, although I'll look mighty silly carrying it around with me. Anyone have the room and ability to carry it for me?"
Hogtying got me lol. Nicely done Matrim.

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

Holding the dagger in his hand, the half elf looked around with a sniff, and began walking around, seemingly looking for something. Searching the west first, he circled around to the east, and as he started coming back with a dispointed look, coming near the hill, he cracked into a smile, running over.

He knelt down, grabbing a pack, and several items, he shouldered the pack, let out a whoop of glee seeing the whip. Connecting it to his belt, he shouldered his pack and grabbed a small brass bottle with a lead stopper attached with a little string.

Coming back, he smiled. "At least i got my gear back...as well as this." holding up the bottle.

He looks around at the others. "Can anyone find out if items have magical properties?" he said, placing his old dagger in his pack and strapping the new one to his hip.

After Matrim has firmly hogtied Nija, He will say:

"If you can bundle the plate together securely I might be able to carry both it and Nija to town tomorrow for you Myra. But for now, while we wait, I will look after some of my wounds."

Matrim will use some time to heal (short rest since I am assuming first light is some time off)

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

The adventurers and Elora take a short rest until the first rays of light of the new day
bathe the area in beautiful greens and yellows.

30th Readying, 586CY

During the short rest :

Myra holds the bottle,
learning that it is an Eversmoking Bottle (DMG 168).

Raieylan holds the dagger,
learning that it is Venom's Bite.
A +1 dagger (+1 to hit and damage), damage is 1d4 piercing, plus (potentially) poison, range if thrown is 20/60.
A standard action can be used to magically coat the dagger with poison.
Poison effects : DC 15 Con save or take extra 2d10 poison damage.
Pass the save = no poison damage.
Poison can only be applied once/day (refreshes at dawn).

Matrim holds the cloak,
learning that it is a Cloak of Displacement (DMG 158).

(The greataxe remains unidentified, for now.)

Elora spends time during the short rest praying while Bhelmyr buries Bandish.
She then goes about the gruesome task of collecting the zombie bits-and-pieces,
piling them in a heap to the east of the hill.

In the morning Elora says to the adventurers,
"I don't know what to do with those zombie parts.
I fear they may attract wild animals while I attempt to perform a cleansing ritual.
The ritual shouldn't take more than an hour."

The adventurers will notice that Nija's eyes are now open.
Nija struggles a little bit ... then gives up, choosing instead to remain still and silent ...
... glaring at the adventurers with her evil tiefling eyes.

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

the half elf examined the dagger as he ate. After a time, he looked at the halfling who took the bottle. "Though a nice dagger, you may be better siuted to this than i. It is keen and light, due to it's enchantment, and if i'm not mistaked, has some ability with poison." He held it out to her.

"If you would like it, take it...else i will use it"

He looked over to the waking woman and managed a half smile. "It seems your other guest is awake...though not too happy" The half elf stood, leaving his pack where it was.

"I'll start moving moving the parts...you focus on the cleansing." With that he started moving them away from the clearing, piling them for burning. He looks at the woman. "Behave....i'd hate to have to kill you on such a nice day."

Chapter Three : Greyhawk City

Bhelmyr spent quite some time digging before gently lowering Bandish into the ground. He was in a dark mood, "I just buried another friend because of her. She would have opened a rift that would bring untold death and destruction to these lands. Her happiness is far from my concern. She may prove to be a threat to the world still. I say we give her one chance to convince us why we shouldn't bury her right next to Bandish." Sure enough, Bhelmyr had, in fact, dug two holes: One for Bandish, and a bigger one for Nija.

Hearing her friend speak so darkly scared Myra for she knew Bhelmyr good hearted. Trying not to draw too much attention to herself Myra accepted the dagger humbly saying, "I would appreciate the dagger. Thank you very much." Then sat admiring it for a moment before strapping it into place within easy reach on her chest.
