Myra runs as close to the ogre as possible without being in melee range. Then she takes a shot with her short bow at the ogre zombie.

The two remaining zombies (9 and 10) continue wandering around aimlessly.

Matrim swigs a Potion of Greater Healing, healing himself for 14 HP !

Myra runs as close to the ogre zombie as possible without being in melee range.
Then she takes a shot with her short bow at the ogre zombie.
The arrow flies past Matrim and almost knocks the potion from the goliaths hands.
The arrow smashes through the ogre zombies head, obliterating most of it.
The ogre zombie staggers and almost falls.
It is very close to (permanent) death.

Raieylan, bolstered by the injuries to the zombie, steps in with his scimitar swinging ...

The shadows continue moving (drifting) towards the eastern edge of the forest,
drawn towards the darkness of the forest and the remains of the billowing black cloud.

Kvanlanir, growing tired of this endless dance, launches another arrow at the ogre zombie.
Kvanlanir's arrow tears part of the ogre zombies chest open.
The ogre zombie drops to its knees ...

 ... then drops completely to the ground, laying still.
The ogre zombie is destroyed.

Bhelmyr flies towards where Nija and Elora lay unconscious.
He casts spare the dying on Nija,
and healing word on Elora.
DM, on behalf of Bhelmyr Godstouched, rolled 9 using 1d4+6.  healing word on Elora

Elora, healed by Bhelmyr, gasps and sits upright.
She looks around, shakes the cobwebs from her head, and slowly gets to her feet.

Nija, spared from dying by Bhelmyr, remains laying on the ground, unconscious.

The battle comes to an end.
The adventurers know that some shadows lurk nearby to the east,
(and can possibly see wandering zombie 9 to the northeast.)

Otherwise, it is quiet.

Nija Necrosis has been thwarted in her attempt to attack the shrine.
Her staff, which was doing something necrotic and unholy, to the ghosts, has been destroyed.
The ghosts ... disappeared !

Bhelmyr lands next to Nija. He empties her pockets and removes anything she is wearing that could be a magic focus dropping everything into a pile 10' away. As he carefully binds her hands and feet, he says to Elora, "The ghosts are gone. We've failed, miss."

The half elf who joined them walked up, breathing heavily. He smiled at them. "Anything you walk away from is not a failure. Personally I'm glad to see you."

The half elf stands just short of 6 feet tall, with a lean build. His dark brown hair borders on black, is shoulder length and tousled.
His eye are a deep blue that are almost iridescent. He has stubble if a beard and  His skin is tanned.

His loose fitting linen pants that are dark grey, his studded leather a grey with black studs. He has a arm bracer on his upper arm that is silver with a oval blue stone, a blue bote at his hip and a fine silver bladed scimitar with a polished grey pommel and a deep blue stone in the base of the handle.

"My name is Raieylan. I was captured a few days ago by the armoured beast over there with his undead minions "

Myra approached Bhelmyr murmuring to herself a small prayer, "I hope those shadows don't come back.", but when she heard his words she bowed her head in shame. There was nothing this silver tongue could think of that might suffice for their failure, but nevertheless she did think of one thing. "Well, at least we have something to take our frustrations out on." She watched Nija's unconscious for any sign of movement. Myra's attention switched when Raieylan approached. "Nice to meet cha. Always glad to have an extra set of hands on your side in a fight."

"No need to hurt Nija, yet. Now if she starts speaking any words you don't understand, Myra, then you just give her a good swift kick. Nice to meet you Raieylan. With luck, perhaps your survival prevented the rift from opening somehow." Bhelmyr gave a hopeful look to Elora.

Bhelmyr empties the pockets of Nija and binds her hands and feet.

Placing Nija's items in a pile, the adventurers find :
- 130 GP
- a black dagger, with a wicked-looking curved blade
- a fancy cloak, of shimmering multi-colours
- leather boots
- regular black female necromancer clothes (goth girl outfit)

Elora looks around at the carnage of chopped-up zombies, then to Nija lying unconscious,
then to the remains of the unholy staff, now just a blackened stump sticking out of the ground.

She walks to the centre of the hill summit, where the ghosts were performing their once-a-century ritual dance.
Kneeling down, she places one hand upon the stone slab beneath her, closing her eyes.

After a few silent moments she speaks.
"I ... can feel them ... though they are distant. The elven ghosts have departed, but I do not think they have been destroyed."

Standing and addressing the adventurers, she continues,
"Thank you, friends. You've done a great thing here today. Nija's staff was draining the power of the ghosts. If she had been successful it would have resulted in her staff becoming a powerful unholy magical item. I shall performing a cleansing ritual here at first light. Hmmm ... all that remains is to decide what to do with ... her."
Elora glares at Nija lying unconscious on the ground nearby.

The half elf nods in welcome to tbe others, and looks at the gear. He smiles at the others. "If you would not mind, I wouldn't mind the dagger....when I was taken all my gear was taken."

He frowned as he crossed his arms, his scimitar seemingly turning into water and vanishes. "They took my whip....i loved that thing!" He shook his head

While discussing the situation the adventurers notice the billowing black cloud begin to slowly dissipate ...

Matrim walks up after having cleaned his greatsword on the orge”

“Well met Raieylan. Any person who fights on our behalf is a friend. My name is Matrim.” He sticks out a large hand.

Matrim takes a moment, then continues. “Shame I couldnt get to the big one in time.”

Looking down at the loot, Matrim picks up the cloak. As hes looking it over, he wonders if it would actually fit him.

Myra looks at the leather boots wondering if they'd fit.

Visibly relieved to discover that they had indeed accomplished some good, Bhelmyr says, "I'm Bhelmyr," and offers a hand to the half-elf to shake. Noticing someone missing, he flies back up to survey the area, then darts to Bandish's body, picking up his fallen friend and bringing him to the others. "The little guy gave everything he had," he said solemnly.

When Myra saw the body her head hung low. "I'm sorry for your guys' loss." She looked back at Raieylan. "Myra's the name."

Matrim holds and ponders the cloak from Nija.
As he's holding it, he realizes that the cloak is larger than he first thought.
A perfect fit! (Was he just imagining it being smaller?)

Myra looks at the leather boots.
They should be a good fit for her halfling feet.

Bhelmyr flies up and surveys the area.
Although still dark, he can not see the zombies or shadows anywhere, but knows they are still probably close by.
Bhelmyr can see the billowing black cloud dissipating ...
