Chapter Four : Greyhawk City
Walking the streets of Hardby, the adventurers and hirelings find themselves
in a quiet street a short distance from the hustle-and-bustle of a nearby market area.
The establishment is called the Elfsong Tavern.
Upon entering, a few things are immediately apparent.
The building - from the architectural design to the colour scheme
- seems to have been lifted directly from a foreign land.
A quiet, peaceful tune, sung by a haunting elven voice, wafts through the Elfsong Tavern.
The tune seems to be all around the patrons of the tavern, but with no discernable source.
The tune obviously has a calming effect on the patrons, who are far less than rowdy.
The adventurers and hirelings definitely feel the effects of the peaceful tune ...
The adventurers are greeted by the barkeep,
an elven female with long blonde hair and very pronounced elven features.
'Beautiful song, isn't it ? No-one seems to know where it comes from.'
Looking around the tavern, the adventurers can see amongst the slightly-odd decor,
a trophy hanging above a fireplace - that of a stuffed beholder, it's one large central eye
held open with a pair of wooden sticks.
The stuffed beholder trophy looks more pathetic than dangerous.
-----------------------------
The adventurers can rent rooms, which are modestly sized, for 2 silver a night.
Each room comes with two beds, and one lockable chest with key. ( The barkeep
has a duplicate copy of all the keys, and assured you the chests are safe ! )
Meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) are of a decent, though common, quality and variety,
costing between 4 copper and 10 copper (1 silver) each, depending upon the size of the meal.
Likewise, beverages cost between 1 copper and 10 copper, depending upon size and quality.
For an average adventurer, meals and drinks for a day would start at approximately 15 copper (1.5 silver)
for the bare minimum, but a hungry or large adventurer could easily spend double that amount per day (3 silver).
Once rested, fed, and watered, the adventurers and hirelings discuss
their recent adventures and spread out the loot for all to see :
