The journey back to Roderick's Cove is much easier now that the Roadkeepers have been crippled. The ferry woman can barely believe her ears that the fearsome bandits have been chased awaay although she remains quite skeptical about it. She is also less than happy about bringing corpses back across but as she recognizes them as the guard she agrees to it.

The jounrey back is uneventful and the party brings the bodies to Captain Freson who is quite distraught over their deaths.

"There's only three though. Maury is still missing. Do...do you think his body was eaten? Did you see scraps of armor or signs of another body around?"

The party recalls that there weren't signs of the bodies being disturbed at all. Whatever it was they fought wasn't a cannibal like ghouls and wights were. All three bodies were intact, minus the fatal wounds and there wasn't any discarded equipment that would suggest otherwise.

"These are who we found." Kamea said as she looked over the bodies. "How many guards were sent on this patrol. Can you describe the ones that are missing? We can set out again after some rest. We need some time to recover."

"Captain, we'll need to cleanse that area of the thing.  Who would be best to talk to about that?  I want to help, but I am not strong enough.  That may allow us to find more clues about our missing member."

Cathran looks to the others. “We still haven’t checked where our original destination was before we got sidetracked. The last guard could be there as per their mission.”

Captain Freson describes the missing guard: human, male, slightly shorter than the others, dressed in a guard uniform.

"I don't know much about cleansing tainted ground but that elf you've been seen with, Audrahni, she's a priest I think so she might know."

OOC: Where to next?

Looking at Cathran, Caydel shakes his head yes.  "Others can fall prey to that thing...that is a fear, but the guard may have limited time."

"Let's leave the bodies somewhere safe or hire a wagon to bring them back then head for the possible location of the captain. On the way back we can bring kindling and set the desecrated area a blaze, and then have a priest do their thing?"

Amara figured saving the guard would be the adventurer's priority and she was okay with that, she also figured burning out the ghoul was the easiest route she could think of since the forest hadn't seemed liable to catch.

Cathran nods in agreement. “Sounds like a good plan to me. Let’s get some rest then head out as soon as possible. The longer it takes, the more dire it will be for the guard.”

The next morning the party heads back out. After a few hours they meet up with the chatty ferrywoman who ferries them across the river. She is in a good mood as she thinks the party had broken up the Roadkeepers as she hadn't seen any of their people since yesterday.

The group travels along familiar trails and encounter nothing larger than squirrels and birds. When they reach the encircled tree where the undead was holed up they see that it had relocated itself back beneath the gnarled roots of the tree, once again lying in wait for unsuspecting travelers to cross the road barrier.

OOC:

Alright three obvious paths of exploration

1) Stay here and fight the undead thing again

2) Head towards the goblin lair

3) Head back towards the Roadkeeper HQ to see if they did pack up and leave.

"No matter how evil this thing is...and how much I want to stop it...I know the guard may still be helped...and this thing is beyond me.  For now," looking on at the tree and gnarled roots, "we should move on.  Find the guard...."  Caydel looks at the others, he gives a half-hearted smile. "I can sing us a tune."  He looks back to the tree....

"You're right." Kamea agreed with Caydel. "It's a good thing that the creature is held within that ring. I don't want to think about what would happen if it was released from its confines."

"Let's find the guard."


OOC: Just wanted to make sure that we're going after 1 guard

Cathran nodded. “Agreed. Let’s be off.”

The directions provided, and occasional goblin trail, lead to the other side of the mountain, opposite where the Roadkeeper HQ was found. Lush and prickly blackberry vines creep across every surface and obscure the dark mouth of the cave but the stale smell of goblin sweat and the sight of smoke drifting up from the cave entrance makes locating the cave entrance relatively easy.

Smoke is wafting up out of the cave entrance through the vines. As far as the party can tell the cave entrance is unguarded.

“Unless we are checking for traps as we go, I suggest my servant goes first. The smoke will not bother him, and I can see through his eyes. I do prefer to not be beyond sixty or so feet from him for security reasons.”Gavel gives a low bow and faces the cave awaiting orders.

While the entrance looks large enough to accommodate non-goblin sized creatures it does look like the cave narrows as it goes further in.

"We'll need light."

"I can lead the way and look for traps, but perhaps having your summons behind me to retreat behind would be a good idea? I don't expect much but noise alarms are a pretty simple thing to make."

Amara eyed the cave cautiously and with consideration, knowing even goblins and kobolds could use bone traps to warn of invaders.

"I can follow the summoned creature." Kamea held her glaive with both hands. She squinted at the dark tunnel. "Caydel is right, we'll need a light."

Cathran snaps her fingers causing Gavel’s gauntleted fist to glow with light. It waited for Amara to go before going in after her. Cathran went in last.

The party enters the cave, heading towards the sounds of activity deeper inside. The ceiling of this cave is awkwardly low, barely more than four feet in height. A pair of walls two feet high made from piles of rocks and broken masonry divide this larger cave into smaller areas. The air stinks of smoke, sweat, and worse.

OOC: Everyone of medium size has to squeeze to fit.

Each move into or through a narrow space counts as if it were 2 squares, and while squeezed in a narrow space, you take a –4 penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to AC.

Any attempt to clamber over one of these walls requires a successful DC 10 Climb check—failing it by 5 or more indicates that the wall has toppled. In this case, that square becomes difficult terrain and the climber falls prone while taking 1d3 points of damage.



Just as Amara reaches the gap between the walls a horrible cry sounds out from behind them and two goblins armed with spears jump out from hiding spots near the main entrance. At the same time two other goblins spring up from behind the walls boxing the adventurers in.

Goblins poke at Kamea and Amara but both dodge and parry the sudden strikes but from behind both Caydel and Cathran find themselves poked with rusty jagged spears.

OOC: Cathran takes 1 pt of piercing and Caydel takes 5 points of damage from two pokes from Goblin #4

"Oh hell no, Goblins? I'm not dying to a fucking goblin."

Perhaps it was her ancestry or the fact she was squeezing into a tight tunnel but Amara seemed visibly irritated as she did her best to twist and impale the goblin that had tried to stick her with both her swords. No way, no how.

Kamea turned and saw that their retreat was blocked by two goblins. "Focus on the rear!" She turned and slashed at the goblin that was hindering Cathran's path. The glaive poked over Cathran's head, but missed the elusive goblin.

Cathran and Gavel were wedges between the others and the goblins. The most they could do was try to defend themselves until an opening came available.

The other goblins continue to attack poking at the heroes with their spears. Crammed in the tight tunnels they were easy targets for the goblins.

Amara had quite enough of fighting in a cramped space and rushed for the goblin, diving without warning into a roll hopefully fast enough to avoid any attacks. Using her shoulder rather then her hand to brace herself she landed on her feet with pure acrobatic skill. Grinning she then attempted to stab the goblin now that she had a bit more breathing room. Sadly due to her dizziness, an accurate swing was not going to happen

Amara jukes around the goblin getting into better position. One goblin spins around to stab at her but with room to move she easily dodges the strike. Another goblin stabs at Cathran but focused on defending herself she defects the stab into the wall.

Cathran and Gavel continue to stand guard, alert for attacks.

Caydel dazzles the goblin at the entrance filling his vision with flashes of light. It clutches at its eyes, screaming in panic and runs in a sprint out of the cave, dashing itself against a tree trunk and stunning itself.

The remaining goblin also stabs at Amara and likewise misses.

Kamea can't seem to line up a good attack given the chaos of combat.

Round 2

Gavel moves to fill the space left by his ally and swung at one of the goblins but the confines of the cave got in the way of his swing. Cathran moved to the spot gavel was to put as much distance between her and the goblins behind her.

Moved to the now empty space to attack Goblin 1 and missed. Cathran moves to Gavel’s former spot and does Total Defense again.

Kamea shifted and moved her grip lower on the shaft of the glaive. She used the extended reach to poke at the goblin.

Kamea turns and stabs the last goblin from over the wall, killing it as well.

From the Northwest tunnel wafts a horrible scent of filthy animals, from the Southeast tunnel is the sound of creatures moving about and the clatter of general activity as well as a soft glow from some illumination source. The Southwest tunnel is quiet and still.

"We're clear back here!"

Amara was cautious as she checked each pathway's entrance for signs of recent use or traps, her general feeling was that taking care of the sentient beings with the light might be the smart choice first but she wasn't sure.

“I suppose we should head inside where the noises are coming from before they can mount a suitable trap or defense?”

Amaara doesn't see any traps in any of the three exits and while she finds some tracks she only gets vague ideas of activity. The majority of tracks head towards the light. A moderate amount head towards the bad animal smell and very few head towards the silent cave.

"Cathran has the best idea. Let's take care of the threats that we know." Kamea volunteered to go first. "So we follow the tracks towards the light."

"Doesn't seem to be any traps, most of the tracks head to the light some head for the animals and a very small amount into the darkness."

Amara brushes her hands of dust and dirt after finishing her investigation, rather positive in her assessment of traps and tracks. Hopefully.

Gavel takes position behind Cathran to guard the rear while the others are allowed to take the lead.

A small fire casts a flickering glow across this oblong cave, illuminating a haze of smoke that hangs in the ceiling. A low wall of rocks and broken masonry partially blocks the opening
on the west side of the cave, and a tunnel in the east wall heads south. A number of piles of rags lie along the walls.

A half dozen more goblins are milling about, mostly clustered around the cook fire and poking at rats on a crude spit but another looks up and spies the party approaching. Another two are currently resting among the rags along the far wall.

They stare at the party confused as if they can't understand they are under attack.

Kamea rushed inside with her glaive ready. She used the reach of the weapon to strike from a vantage point. "Take them quickly. There may be more of them." The goblin proved to be faster as she struck nothing but air.

Amara slipped forward with an Acrobatic tumble, blade drawn with a grin as she kept quiet out of training rather then any sneaky plans. She rushed forward to stab at a goblin with her sword, not planning to leave any alive to raise the alarm in case others are in the other caverns.

Cathran shoots one of the goblins still in their bed while Gavel runs forward and drops his hammer like fists on the other one, smashing him flat.

Goblins scramble from the fire and start stabbing at the golem. One successfully chips the golem, the other trips and falls prone.

Gavel takes 3 damage

Kamea runs forward and finishes off the goblin Cathran wounded.

Amara runs to support Gavel and stabs a goblin in the face. It doesn't get up after that.

Two more goblins run up to surround Amara but with both hands working furiously she holds them off.

Round 2

Caydel follows the others into the room and sets himself up to to flank with Amara on the ones attacking her.  He swipes at one of them with his rapier.

Cathran shoots at Stabber and the bolt goes wide. Gavel however runs up and pounds the goblin into the ground like a nail.

Caydel, Gavel and Amara go to work stabbing and smashing and slicing the remaining goblins in the room. After the frantic gibbering and screaming and shouting of the goblins the silence is both welcoming and a bit unsettling. The air is still save for the snapping and cracking of the wet wood on the dirty camp fire.

While the goblins have little of value unless one has an unusual interest in rusty metal scraps, broken toys and trinkets or odd totems made of bird bones the back of the cave reveals a long tunnel that leads deeper into the mountain.

"Catch your breath. There's still a dark tunnel ahead." Kamea took her own advice and drank from her skin of water. "Amara, you okay with taking the lead? I'll follow."

“Gavel can take the lead if you wish. He is quite durable and I have ways of healing him.”Gavel took a step up waiting for the decision.

"I can lead, albeit we may wish to consider emptying the other pathways before we move forwards. I'm fine with either."

Amara gave a little shrug after searching for hidden nooks and crannies, albeit not expecting much. She didn't mind taking the lead, it was her specialty after all.

Quietly poking and looking around the chamber, Caydel idly remarks, "How did they live this way?"

“Ok Amara leads and Gavel guards the rear as we explore the other passageway first.”

Amara nods agreeing with Cathran and unless anyone has arguments she will do exactly that, taking the lead with eyes open and being as quiet and stealthy as she can. Intrigued by what could be down the cave but also quite wary, assuming many more goblins in their path.

This cave is roughly fifteen feet wide. A passage to the north leads into a larger chamber, and a low defensive wall partially blocks egress into this cave. Piles of dirty rags and pine straw form a large bed against the south wall.

As the party enters an arrow whizzes right past Amara's head from a sniper nest back behind the low wall as three goblin dogs bark and charge. The goblin has unusual eyes as one is blue while the other is a bloody red.

Round 1

Amara considered the situation as she drew a Dagger and a short sword, unwilling to plunge into the snipers sights as well as a full pack of dogs. She was not so keen on being bitten if she could help it. Absently she flicked out her left hand, tossing a dagger at the nearest dog while staying armed with her sword.

Cathran backs up with Gavel positioned in front of her providing cover.

Amara flicks a dagger striking blood from one of the dogs.

The goblin sniper responds by sending an arrow right into Amara's neck. The nimble rogue is just able to avoid the strike from being a killing blow but the wound is still very deep and blood splashes on the cave.

OOC: Crit! Amara takes 15 pts of piercing damage

Cathran and Gavel make room for a retreat back towards the entrance. As Kamea and Cayden move to back up the dogs start nipping at their heels. Amara fends off a pair of dogs but Cayden gets nipped by one.

OOC: Cayden take 4 pts of damage and must make a DC 12 fort save or else take a -2 penalty to DEX and CHA for a day.

Amara let out a loud gasp of pain, gritting her teeth as her eyes swivel this way and that. Without hesitation she slashes at goblin dog 1 with her sword, frantic to clear the area around her. She then backs away carefully, trying to stay out of the snipers sights. Sadly it's obvious she's a bit frantic as her swing is wide and fearful.

Cathran continues toward the entrance while Gavel steps in between the rest of the group and the dogs giving cover against the sniper. “We need to regroup.”

Deadeye sends a shot close enough that it catches on Amara's hair but miraculously doesn't take her ear in the process. It is close enough for Amara to hear the painful whistle sound it makes before striking the wall behind her.

Cathran heads for the entrance leaving Gavel as a rearguard.

A dog snaps at Amara's ankles but she dances away.

Kamea steps up and attacks that dog, slashing it with her glaive. It yelps and looks back towards its master before snarling and snapping.

Another dog steps up and again Amara dances away from its bite.

The third dog is jumping back and forth behind the others, trying to find room so it too can push forward and attack the intruders.

Caydel steps up to attack but misses the barking goblin dog.

Round 5

Caydel attacks the dog again.

Cathran stopped retreating and had an idea. She ran back and targeted the sniper. If they were having issues from being cramped in the tunnel, she might be able to make it just as difficult for him. She pointed at the sniper and spoke an incantation. Gavel bobbed and weaved to avoid any incoming shots while he protected his charge.

OOC: Cast Enlarge Person on the sniper. DC 15 Fort save or grow one size category to make him squeezed like us.

Amara slashed again at the dog to the west of her, her blade attempting to sever its throat with brutal efficiency. She was on exceptionally high alert with her neck torn, gasping with fear and sweat. She attempted to withdraw further to the SE (Z9), hoping to bottle neck the goblin dogs at her previous location (Y8)

Kamea stepped into the gap when Amara withdrew further. She shortened her grip on her glaive and chopped at the dog in front of her. "Amara, do you have a potion or something to heal yourself?"

Amara keeps swinging her blades to fend off the horde of dogs snapping at her.

The goblin archer sends a shot into Amara's chest and the thief drops to the ground bleeding out.

Cathran moves to enlarge the goblin but two things occur to her. First the room the Goblin is in is large enough that it would be squeezed and second, the goblin is just out of range for the spell thanks to the huge bottle neck of people and animals.

Gavel stands around waiting for orders.

A goblin dog snaps at Caydel but misses. It seems the dogs are really just there to pin the heroes down for the sniper to take them out one by one.

Kamea chops down on a dog and it falls to the ground lying still.

The two goblin dogs run up, one jumping over Amara even to make their attacks.

One of the dogs bites Caydel's arm causing a nasty rash to start to form.

Seeing a clear path, Kamea rushed into the cave. She brought up the glaive and attacked the creature with the bow. "You've nowhere to hide!"

Gavel ran up to box the creature in, but his fist hit nothing but wall as the creature was too small. Cathran walked up behind the fighters and spoke to the goblin in a commanding voice while pointing a finger down at the floor.“Surrender now or die! We have you outnumbered and outclassed.”

Amara being pulled out of combat leans against the wall and stays hidden as she tries to gain her bearing, rearming herself and generally just taking a moment to catch her breath. She's still feeling fairly woozy and dizzy as well from blood loss.

The goblin seemed crazed, ignoring the attacks pouring onto it and seemingly abandoning all sense of tactics to fire its bow over and over again at Kamea.

Round 6

Gavel tried to strike at the goblin as it looses more arrows but missed. His second swing though caught it on the shoulder. Cathran ducked behind the corner out of its aim.

Trapped, isolated and apparently having disregarded tactics in the goblin equivalent of bloody fury the goblin sniper is quickly put down.

"Thank you."

Amara took the time to heal her wounds with Caydels assistance, grateful to be out of the range of fire. She was more grateful to hear the death squeals of the sniper.

“You ok over there Amara?”Cathran called out as she checked the perimeter to see if they had alerted any reinforcements.

"Let's search this area... but we need to press on." Kamea checked the bodies especially that of the archer. If there are no other exits, then she'll stand guard at the entrance. "We need to check the other tunnels."

The goblin has a very nice bow and a few baubles stashed away but both rooms end up being empty. This one was obviously the room for a prestigious member of the tribe and the other room served as the kennels for the goblins. It appears that while the group was fighting in the larger room the goblin sniper had run across and released the hounds, prepping for a flanking attack against the party before they doubled back to take care of it.

Caydel smiles and takes a swig from the flask, "You feel OK to move?  I don't know what we have next, but I can do more if you need it."

“Some more healing would be appreciated, then I’ll search the rooms before we leave. They might have a cache here too.”

Amara decided to think about the treasure to brush aside the brush with death. Very grateful to be working with a healer today, that was for sure.

Amara smiled gratefully wiping off the blood as best she could with a sleeve, ignoring the carnage left on her for the moment as she went to carefully search the goblin snipers room. Looking for any hidden cache's or doors.

Cathran ordered Gavel to keep lookout while they searched.

Cathran did find a bit of magic on the dead goblin sniper, a set of goggles that turn out to be Eyes of the Eagles, magically enhanced to make objects stand out better against one another and making that which is unseen more visible.

The goblin's armor and other weapons are junk as typical with goblin wear but the longbow is very well designed although designed for a small sized creature. In addition a search of her quarters reveals a small bag of gems and baubles. A rough estimate would be it's worth a couple dozen gold at least.

Cathran holds up the goggles. “These are magical and help you see things from far away. I don’t have a particular use for them, but you all can decide who gets it.”

[OOC] Caydel wonders about the caves looking for any sign of the lost patrolmen.  armor...weapons...anything.

"At worst they're gold to split."

Amara revealed the coins and gems before putting them aside in her pouch for now, making sure the others knew about it but being professional enough not to sort it out in the middle of the enemy cave. She also tossed the longbow in her bag due to its small size.

Cayden sees no signs of the missing guard here but the caverns do lead deeper...

OOC: ...when the party is ready to move on...

The tunnel opens into a much larger cave, the ceiling of which arches to a height of fifteen feet overhead. The air here is cool and less pungent. Several long, low walls of broken stone transform the cave into something of a maze, while what appear to be ruined buildings built into the cave walls stand further to the south.

As the party gets closer they hear goblin voices arguing with one another.

Kamea whispered in hush tones. "Ok. How do we want to do this?" She lifted her glaive to avoid parts of the tunnel.

"Can we do as they did?  Snipe?"

Cathran folded her arms and whispered. “If we go into that maze, we’re dead. No doubt there’s traps and the goblins know it better. They will snipe us from behind and run away before we retaliate. Can one the more acrobatic of our group climb to on top of the low walls to get an idea of where they’re at?”

OOC: I've uploaded the new map and marked where you can hear goblins talking. Note that the goblin by the wall is sitting down so he isn't visible but can be heard.

"They're arguing about whether to investigate or not. I can try to mimic a goblin voice and tell them to come investigate or something, or we can sneak in. We also have the option of just leaving."

Amara was fairly sure she could mimic a goblins pitch at least enough to cause confusion and it's not like Goblins where known for their intelligence. A simple 'come quick' could be mistaken for the sniper, yes?

Cathran gives a thumbs up and hides around a corner with Gavel ready to whack a mole the first goblin to come out.

Goblins are not famous for their analytical capabilities.

OOC: It will be a bluff vs. sense motive check if you would like to do so. Roll your bluff when ready.

Amara crouched trying to hide as best she could in the shadows and readied both her short swords. Taking a deep breath she barked out in a goblin tone and tongue a few basic words to lure their enemies in. [Language unknown: “Watena! Wit!”]

Goblins aren't known for their cunning or wisdom and hearing a "goblin" shout to come quick they all come running, including the ones Amara didn't even know about.

They run right by Amara...and Caydel and Kamea in complete obliviousness to the ambush before finally realizing something is up when one runs smack into Gavel.

OOC: The surprise round is yours. Everyone can make a melee attack against a goblin (except for Cathran who is free to cast a spell instead)

I'll put up a proper combat tracker after we figure out how many of them are even left alive...

Cathran threw a ball of acid at the same Goblin that Gavel drove into the ground like a tent stake.

Surprise Round

The goblins are caught completely flat footed as they get ambushed from the side. Gavel smashes one, Kamea kills another and Caydel kills a third.

Round 1
Despite being ambushed the three surviving goblins react quickly. They all lash out with jagged bits of metal and while Amara dodges one she takes a couple of painful hits in the process.

"Amara! Step back. I've got you covered." Kamea shouted when it looked like Amara would be surrounded. Kamea chopped at the goblin (AG10).

Amara had to admit she was feeling a little trapped in, what with goblins on one side and allies on the other. And being told she should back off was absolutely something she was okay with and so she withdrew, deciding to leave combat to the others this time.

Full-Withdraw and/or Tumble to take Caydels old spot at AE13

Amara stabs one goblin before it can react. Gavel steps up and smashes a second and the third in a panic turns around and flees in a dead sprint...directly into the low wall. The goblin bashes its head against the wall and stuns itself making it easy enough for the party to finish it off. With the four goblins dead the air grows still.

Cathran came out of hiding. “Gavel, lead the way into the maze of you would please.”Gavel nodded and started to head into the maze.

The maze winds back and forth before opening up into a large open area with three ruined buildings around the sides. Additionally there appears to be a tunnel heading East.

As they exit the maze Amara catches sight of a pair of eyes peeking around the corner of one of the buildings.

Cathran hung out at the edge of the maze with Gavel spreading his arms to provide cover. She looks to the others. “Looks like some people are still home. Shall we pursue or just ask them to give us the guard, so we can be on our way?”

Caydel casts light on his rapier.

"There's a Goblin snake watching us."

Amara is still a bit woozy from all the hits she's been taking as she mumbles, an almost casual glance in the direction of the hidden serpent. Her short swords put away for now and daggers in hand. She didn't plan on being on the front lines any further if she could help it.

“So do we go after it or approach slowly?”

"I don't have a better plan than forward...unless lighting it on fire would help."  He shakes his flask, "it would make a good flash."

"Carry on." Kamea said as she followed the others into the area. She continued and stopped at the doorway (AP7). "Let's see what's in here. Caydel, bring your light here."

Cathran followed and mentally commanded Gavel to keep an eye on the snake.

Caydel enters the next "room" with his rapier held at the ready.

As the party approaches the first building the snake ducks back around the corner out of sight.

So then the door is closed.

Kames can open the door unless someone else would like to do so.

Caybel will be ready to strike down on anything that comes out of the door as it is opened.

Amara stayed hidden with a dagger in hand, trying her best not to get stabbed. Or bitten. Or hurt. again. This little rogue needed to stop bleeding.

Gavel stands beside his master keeping an eye in all directions on the outside of the building for the snake they knew was there while the others prepared to open the door.

Kamea opened the door.

Kamea opens the door to reveal a mostly empty room. On one side is a large straw and canvass bed and next to it is a molding wooden coffer. For a place infested by goblins it is surprisingly clean. On top of the bed is a goblin with what looks like large fangs punched through its lips. It appears to be munching on fat yellow slugs before being interrupted. As the group enters it looks at them and snarls reaching for a large piece of jagged metal next to it.

Round 1

From around the corner the party hears the goblin snake hissing some kind of arcane spell.

The fanged goblin grabs the jagged metal and it lights on fire. The goblin grins wickedly and casts a spell causing magical energy to coalesce in front of it.

Cathran loosed a crossbow bolt at the goblin while Gavel charged in and tried to smack it. Both attacks missed.

Kamea chopped at the goblin with her glaive. "There's one in there." Then she moved to the side to allow someone to take the space she vacated.

Kamea chopped but her attack bounced off the magical protection of the goblin.

Gavel charges in but the goblin dodges his attacks.

Caydel and Amara hold their actions waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Round 2
From behind the corner out pops the Goblin Snake, who quickly steps back to get out of range of Kamea's glaive.

The goblin steps back away from Kamea and Gavel and holds up a crude holy symbol before flinging a fireball out at the party. It sails past Gavel, Cayden and Cathran only to explode on catching everyone in a fiery blaze.

OOC: Everyone please make a DC 16 reflex save or else take 16 damage (half if you save) fire damage.

Cathran gets turned into a piece of Charcoal as the fireball goes off. She falls over unconscious with third and fourth degree burns all over her body. Gavel takes the brunt of the blast as well. As he tries to catch his master as she falls, his form fades and disappears from existence.

Amara almost casually sidestepped the fireball and its backlash as if she could see it coming, looking wary of the goblin snake and the goblin caster. She also very much was not in good shape herself. A moment of considering and she shifted to step over Caydel cautiously, Sword in her MH and Dagger in her offhand. Staying hidden, at least from inside the building.

Move: Stand over Caydel on AO7, MW SS in MH and Dagger in OH. Since goblin hasn't seen her, hide.
Standard: Ready attack if Goblin pops his head out with SS. Since both Caydel and Cathran dropped and Gavel dissipated, all his 'visible' enemies should have gone poof.

10:45, Today: Amara rolled 22 using 1d20+10 with rolls of 12.  Reflex DC 16. (Evasion)

Kamea moved to the side in order to allow Gavel to enter the building. But the fireball caught her in the blast before she could find cover. She immediately drank a potion from her belt.

The goblins snake comes forward and fires off a scorching ray from its mouth. Kamea ducks just in time as it scorches the wall right past her head.

The fanged goblin steps forward and ignores Amara but sees Kamea still standing. It raises its holy symbol and a wave of dark energy pours out from the the symbol draining the living energy from everyone around it.

OOC: Everyone needs to make a DC 11 will save or take 12 damage. A successful save halves it.


16:00, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 12 using 3d6 with rolls of 2,5,5.  channel negative energy.

Cathran’s will is still strong even when unconscious, but her body can’t take much more punishment.

Kamea was on the verge of panic. She ducked the fiery blast from the snake. She saw all of her companions fall, one by one. Kamea had flashbacks of the time when her previous adventuring group all died... back when she was a man... She drank her last potion of health.

Kamea panicked... and fled. She slammed the door close and picked up Amara. She moved as fast as she could back the way they had all come.
