[1.07] Roderic's Wreck

Roderic's eyes go a little unfocused. He is trying to understand but the barrier between life and death makes it difficult.

"My map. It's gone. It holds the key! The key to the vault. You must do what I couldn't. What I didn't. Find the stone house."

As he talks water trickles out from his mouth splashing into the growing pool on the floor.

[1.07] Roderic's Wreck

The ghost shakes its head spraying Tanu with water.

"No. The Stone House. In the woods. It stands above a secret. The secret."

This was before the newcomers time but Kamea and Amara would recall that the bandits they had chased out had made a base of operations out of a stone structure that was in the middle of a clearing. Then again Roderic could be referring to something else that they hadn't found yet. Perhaps the map he keeps alluding too would shed light on that mystery.

[1.07] Roderic's Wreck

With a final cry Roderic's ghost suddenly converts entirely to water leaving a brief instance of a human-shaped blob of water hovering in the air before splashing down with great force. Rancid water sprays up once again covering the party in foul smelling liquid.

Amara had done her best to avoid the water as best she can though looked especially sour at the end of it all.

"So we came upon a witch in the woods, the remains of a bandit group that lived in a stone house we never got to look within. My suggestion is we start there. After a bath."

"Yeah, let's get out of here." Kamea looked at the walls of the house. She half-expected for another shake, rattle and rumble. She was eager to leave the house.

Amara spit out to the side, the smell of fetid water still fresh in her nose as she gave Phelar a look. Admittedly part of her did want to search everything in case of hidden cache's, but the rest of her just wanted to leave.

The upstairs had been swept through. The only place left to explore was down the first floor hallway and underneath the main staircase.

Re: [1.07] Roderic's Wreck

Forgot to mention this...

After the encounter with Roderic's ghost in the master bedroom the party looks around and makes an interesting discovery. The wooden case discarded on the floor once contained the sword. The case is of masterwork quality, and a thin sheeting of lead lines its interior.

Etched into a plaque in ornate lettering on the case’s side is the word “Baraket.” Two small but complex locks line the edge of the case, ready to lock as soon as the case is closed. Examining the case further they find that inside the lid is a set of keys attached by some kind of adhesive that looks like they fit the locks of the keys.

The party recognizes that name as the true name behind what is more commonly referred to as the Sword of Pride, one of the Seven Sword of Sins. Back in the old Thassilonian days each of the Runelords had a champion who wielded the sword of the associated sin. It is believe these powerful swords survived the fall of Thassilon and since one sword or another has popped up in tales wielded by some hero or villain.

The ancient runelord of Pride was Xanderghul, aka the holder of the peacock throne and self-proclaimed first among the Runelords. His style of magic is commonly associated with illusions.

As this game is going to to deal heavily with the Runelords, if you need additional background feel free to PM me.

In terms of magic the only thing truly magic that they can still detect were the magical slippers they had found in the kitchen earlier. Otherwise the hut has been picked fairly clean except for a few knickknacks and pieces of silverware the party could sell for about 10gp.

[OOC: That being said I believe the slippers are in Phelar's pack until we decided what to do with them because I can't remember exactly but didn't Amara turn them down?

As to where to go next, let's do F, the smaller room, then G the larger one.]

Re: [1.07] Roderic's Wreck

A sickeningly sweet scent hangs in this room’s otherwise stale air. Mold and fungus grow up the side of the northern walls, and what was once a table lies decayed and slumped to the floor at an angle. A door and a stone hearth occupy the west wall of the room, the oven’s door slightly ajar.

It appears as this was once the kitchen and whatever food was left behind became a breeding ground for the mold and fungus that dominates the room.

Does anyone want to explore further or just head to the next room

"...this room smells like, as you humans put it, ass." She says flatly as she wrinkles her nose, then casts a detect magic in the room.

[OOC: If she senses no magic in the room, move on.

BTW, she would have taken the box that should be holding the Thassilonian Sword.]

Re: [1.07] Roderic's Wreck

Amara laughed but couldn't argue, though she was interested in the sword. Admittedly less to use and more wondering just how much value it had.

"Wonder if we can find another key to those odd item traders. Could toss the sword out of this plane and walk away rich."
