Blackjack was a villain I originally made up to be the Rival of the first Brick, PatchWork Power-House.

Breakneck, as you can probably guess, was made to be the Rival of Silver Streak.

But look at you guys! Three Rival-class villains, and you've scared off one, got a second on the ropes, are making good progress toward the third, and successfully saved both a hostage and a henchwoman who got in way over her head!

Shortening longer names is an entirely normal thing between friends, and it struck me as appropriate. Her name remains, definitely, Cosmic Girl.

Quick query: If I Hold Off someone and make them unable to attack people they weren’t already attacking, but they weren’t attacking anyone yet, does that mean they can’t attack anyone for a bit?

I'm gonna rule:

--On a 10 or better, yes, it does mean that.

--On a 9 or lower, yes-- except they still might attack YOU, the person interfering with them (although, as the move says, their retaliation will be weakened).


HOWEVER, I WILL ALSO ADD: the big one and the small one are already attacking Goodwill and Scraps. They just haven't arrived at their doing-harm destination yet (or haven't the last I checked-- I haven't looked at the In-Game thread yet this morning. Just about to do so...).

All of them except the big bruiser. That means the tangler (Lynx), the flyer (you), and the hexapus (Scraps) are left.

The hexapus is still headed for Scraps.
The white Chemical Man is up and active, but seems damaged.
The flying Chemical Man seems fine, and is currently red in color.

I’d like to take an Inspire the Team action (cuz I don’t really know if I should interrupt Scraps and possibly giving everyone a +1 would be good), but there’s not really any sort of leadership or tactical thing to do in this situation, as far as I can tell (beyond the whole “Maybe don’t have us fight our counterparts” thing (which also makes me more inclined to fight the hexapus anyway?)). Could I maybe get away with a “They’re on the ropes, we just need a little more” deal for that action? Just wanna make sure I’m playing with the system.

I still need stress explaining to me, to be honest. I see stuff called stress, and stuff called stun... how do these work? How much can I take before I die?

They're the same thing, but the GM sometimes says one versus the other.

This is what the scale looks like:

0 - I’m fine
1 - I need a second to catch my breath
2 - I need a minute to catch my breath
3 - I need five minutes and probably cosmetic bandaging
4 - I need a few hours rest
5 - I need a good night’s rest
6 - I need several nights rest
7 - I need medical attention
8 - I need a few nights in hospital
9 - I need a week in critical care
10 - I have time for last words


So Lynx being at 9 is VERY BAD.

I've been kinda shocked by 'that' post since I read it, and I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with Scraps now.
And I have come to the realisation that, indeed, Scraps is nothing without Goodwill.

I want to thank the Grandmaster, and Gil, for this awesome opportunity.  I've had so much fun playing a doggy sidekick.  I didn't actually imagine, when I suggested it, that either would accept the concept ... because most GMs, and most players, wouldn't have considered it a viable, longterm character.
We did it, though.  And it was awesome.

But I've been thinking these thoughts through all afternoon, and I really don't think that Scraps is going to just hang around, and bond with someone new ... not like he did with Gil.

Please, I do not want this to come across as bitter or an attempt at emotional blackmail, because its not.   I am all for a good character death:  Wash's death in Firefly hurt like hell, but it was a good death.
And so is Gil's.

But Scraps came in with Gil ... and I think it only right that, as one of the best 'teams' I've played within in a very long time, it is right that Scraps go out with Gil.

If the GM will still have me along, I would love to continue with a new character.
But Scraps will go back to the farm with Gil's family.

Okay kids, the Chemical Men have been defeated/destroyed, combat is over, the mad scientist who made them got away, you've captured Blackjack, and there's surprises in store.

The police, waiting not far away, come in and call for Blackjack to be immobilized and taken away to a top-secret prison complex (Scraps knows of its existence, but he can't tell the two ladies...

Welp, THAT was unexpected!

Goodwill was getting close to being killed in Chapter Seven, and I kinda tanked the fight to keep him alive. I decided that wasn't the best way to handle things, so I added Immortality when he leveled up. Now I can fight right until he drops and still keep the character.

Then we killed him so he'd know about it.

And here I was thinking you might’ve wanted to put together another character! Good job becoming immortal!

Goodwill is all about reputation, too. The more people like him, the more powerful he becomes. Coming back from the dead ought to make him an international sensation.

Sorry for lack of post, I have had a REALLY rough time the past few days. Family stuff. Can't go into details, really, but it's been a few days of no sleep, high stress, and constant anxiety. It won't be over any time soon, but I am starting to get a handle back on my life!

Plan is to roll another charming roll with it, but I’m not entirely sure that this is the best plan. Could I pick any of y’all’s brains? Not literally, of course. I’m not some kind of space alien or anything.

To date, I have had seven operations for kidney stones. I make them constantly, and the little swine refuse to leave me of their own accord. I know I am very likeable, but sometimes, there are limits...

Yikes, I'm lucky (?!) in that mine so far have all left without surgery. Sometimes they are large, sometimes they are quite pointy to the point of being almost barbed, but they do leave eventually (sometimes it does take a long time though).

I hope what I went with was the right amount of severe? I’m thinking Lynx should be unconscious for a good bit and unable to use her abilities for the rest of the chapter if the others do manage to wake her up. And then she should probably be unable to use her left arm for maybe one or two chapters after this? Is that too little? (or much?)

Also, I don’t think I’ll be able to dedicate time to the other game at this time, sorry.

(I feel a little bad about asking this, but I do get an xp point for that last failure too, right?)

I have, in games past, attempted to play a heroic sort who's a bit of a well-meaning knucklehead. (I've used him in two games, both of which lasted a combined five minutes.) He's strong as an ox, and twice as smart. If you're open to the idea, I'd like to give the character type one more shot.

The Well of Names has the perfect name for him, too: Dim.

Sounds groovy to me. Gilgamesh, himself, was... not a supra-genius.

Just a bit of a flare of symptoms of late, so they want to run some checks on me.

Sorry not to post today folks. Very busy start-of-semester day, and then a really bad weather-related (I guess?) headache. And tomorrow will likely be worse (at least on the first front). I'll do my best...

This update is copy/pasted to other games. I guess I am outing my alts. But this is not something I want to type over several times.

Had medical examinations internally yesterday. As some of you are aware, I have been fighting cancer the past couple of years. Well, the exploration revealed some nasty little polyps growing on the site where previously tumours had been. This could be entirely benign - a lot of people have this, and it is entirely fine and never causes any kind of problem. In my case, obviously, this is far more concerning. The doctors removed stuff from inside me, and it is being sent away for examinations. Until I get results of this (in a couple of weeks or so, I expect) I won't know for sure whether or not I'm having a relapse, and need more treatment. So I'm not likely to be at my best. I should still be here and posting away, but I would ask for a little patience if I seem a little sub-par when it comes to my posting.

And crossed fingers, prayers, and gifts of cake are all very much appreciated!

What would be the penalty for attacking multiple targets? Goodwill wants to use one of the Bad Things to hit one (or both) of the others.

OK, I worked out my overall XP spends (assuming I live long enough!) and am now pondering the last point. Durable is more use. But Immortal did come in very handy for Goodwill...

Honestly, Stretch would be great so I can heal myself and whatnot, but it just doesn't work in terms of Lynx's character design. Maaaaaybe as some kinda smaller version of shapeshifting, but that's shapestretching the power a bit thin.

Also, I'm currently debating whether I should attack the same Norwood creation again or switch to something else. It's probably dead? But I don't actually know yet. Maybe I should just Inspire the Team or something. It looks like Goodwill might have to roll a Will Save Remain Undaunted skill soon.

Inspiring is what Conrollers are really excellent at doing, so it isn't a bad idea. We've all been bitten, so I think a little extra edge might be invaluable.

My plan for XP is, in no real order... well, the +1 to each stat, obviously! And for powers: Aura, Ricochet, Teleport... and then I am really torn between Durable and Immortal. Durable would make a lot of sense. It has great synergy with Aura!

Yeah, that's true. Still, I'm glad I was able to get some good clobbers in, what with my Forceful dump stat.

Beyond stat boosts, the only power that I currently plan on nabbing is Wide Scale. Maybe Shape-Shifting, but that's not part of being a Controller and isn't really what I want with the character right now. Taking it would...kinda end the character, I guess? Besides, I don't see any phylacteries on Earth.

Wide Scale is handy. I really love having Area of Effect, it can turn a good hit into an EPIC hit! :D

The robot's eyes apparently work, because he can tell when each of you came in, but there's no reason to think it can read notes you pass between yourselves if you don't put them in the robot's line-of-sight.

Honestly, I had been intending it to be directed at Norwood. Sort of as a way to imply that she wasn't planning on talking further, but that she would still communicate if he were willing to provide materials.

If anyone goes to get checked out at a hospital, they will report that you seem relatively fine, as far as they can tell for what normal should be like for someone with amazing powers.

If anyone speaks to Agent Delancy about the subject, he'll send you to professionals who seem to know what they're talking about with about 40% more confidence with greater doctors, but they'll still say the same things as regular doctors and scientists: you're all going to be fine.

They will also bandage up where each/any of you were bitten, giving stitches if needed.

(They will also freak out if they draw blood from White Lynx, but I'm sure she won't allow that anyway.)

Well, there's probably more than one 'Gil Woods' in the book, so crank callers wouldn't necessarily know which was which. But he primarily counts on most people being nice enough to think "I know his name! I'll go look him up in the book and crank call him!"

I don't think that would work in this universe, but in Gil's universe radiation might give one awesome powers, so maybe this is another way Gil's universe is different.

The aura is off by default, only on when she activates it. That way she won't accidentally start fires or zap people by accident!

It is how insightful works, according to the rules? 10+ on the roll allows you to ask three questions across the subsequent scene. Questions relating to what you're up to, someones state or motivations, and so forth. You get to "hold three" questions for use over the scene.

On 7, Scraps has one question to use, too.

Unless our GM is running things differently. I just went by what is on the rules page. :)
