Some things to notice:
*The DM will play with his own character as well.
*Tieflings and Warlocks are banned in this campaign.
*I would prefer characters and classes that keep the flavor of ancient oriental world.
*If you have the book Oriental Adventures by Gary Gygax, I invite you to read to get some inspiration and lore.
*The character creation uses this array: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 alloted as you wish, before race adjustments.

Regarding Races

I want to keep this as similar to the feudal Japan as possible so I will allow only human or variant human. It does not mean some fantasy monster will appear from time to time, let's say it is a low fantasy setting.

Regarding Classes
These are the names for the different classes in an oriental setting:
Barbarian = Yaban Hito
Bard = Griot
Cleric = Sohei
Druid = Shukenja
Fighter = Samurai
Monk = Kensai
Paladin = Kodai
Ranger = Renja
Rogue = Ninja
Sorcerer = Wu Jen
Wizard = Wu Jen Hon

Is there a reason you don't want to use the Oriental adventures races?

Do you mean those in the book by Gary Gygax?

Those too, but I was thinking about the ones in the later versions of Oriental Adventures, or even some of the 1e supplement books?

Besides the Korobokuru (dwarves) I really do not know what is the equivalence to the other races like Hengeyokai and Spirit Folk. If you could suggest some equivalence I could work on an adaptation.

Re: Setup Thread
Hengeyokai is actually surprisingly simple this one works very well and is easy to find.

Some of the other races are actually in 5e core books as well sometimes by a slightly different name like the Naga-Yuanti.

Ok this opens my mind to other perspective, please lead me to the Spirit Folk equivalence so we can have the four races from the original book to play on this campaign.

Couldn't find them in a text format, but these two pages do most of the work as pictures.

P.S. As is often the hazard of 3rd party material The Bamboo folk have a typo and are missing their +1 attribute, I would suggest either you pick one that isn't Wisdom, dex or, con.  Or let them pick it individually.

RACES

We will go with the four races of the original Oriental Adventures:

Human (PHB)
Korobokuru (same stats than dwarf PHB)
Hengeyokai https://www.dndbeyond.com/race...ara-turan-hengeyokai
Spirit Folk https://66.media.tumblr.com/84...9j1ukgbqco2_1280.png
