Session 0: Character & Group Planning

Hello all

My character is Garrin Greensparrow, a lightfoot halfing Rogue. He is a pessimistic and cynical person, having been turned bitter from being forced to leave his Halfling homeland. Since then he has found skill in taking what he needs to survive, giving little thought to how it may affect others.

He does have a soft spot for other halflings however.

Nice to meet you everyone!

I'm gonna try to play Eirlen'harel, a Drow Bard. I perceive him as a drow that had been born on the surface and has become a rather optimistic sort, despite the barriers and difficulties he faced as a result of his race. However, given those very same troubles, he's used to traveling by his lonesome and surviving off the land as best as he can during the dusk and dawn portions of the day.

When in particularly good spirits, he's quite fond of song and drink and is more than willing to let his natural charisma possibly make some new friends.

Cheers to everyone!

I'll be playing the Elven Wizard with a few spells up his sleeve.

Renard is a magically gifted messenger, and a master bowman. He is also lithe and slender, with bright, keen eyes and ears, and is fair of face, as all Elves are. With his keen eyesight, sensitive hearing, and excellent bowmanship, Legolas could be a valuable resource to the other members.

Looks like I'll be the meat shield of the group.  No worries. I'm not as soft as I look.

And I am Zeric the Cleric. Please do not taunt the dwarf, he does perform triage.

I will be the tin can clanking around behind Bramble and Timmy making sure the tiny cannon fodder remain fodder and not floor decorations.

If you carry the ladder so Zeric can reach the rafters, he will be sure to hang the corpse with a batch of mistletoe for that extra seasonal spirit.

lol. Some Cleric you are. Your supposed to save lives not help them get taken. Well unless its because we aren't the same faith and you think me a heathen. Or you have orders from you god. But how many people play evil characters any more. I don't think too many DM's allow them in games.

Bramble also has the Urchin background, and lived as one for the past seven or eight years.  She grew up in a large city (which city depends upon where we are starting).  She was a member of a specific group of urchins, but Bramble and Timakirk could easily have crossed paths, if not been in the same clan of urchins.   If you want to discuss it in PM, I am more than open to the idea.

Hey everyone! New to rpol, and rusty to d&d. So I've decided to go dragon born.. That's reincarnated from an actual dragon. Is it a punishment or mercy? Idk, she doesn't know. Lots of roadblocks story wise, I'm even rolling for the color. But I do know I'm going to go monk/druid with this chick with her main goal to be achieving dragon hood and proving her worth along the way.

i'm also following the players handbook suggestion for the quick build so a charlatan background with blast & chill touch cantrips along with ray of sickness & witch bolt spells

You take it from the abilities section.  If your total Charisma is, for example, 16, your modifier is +3.

Modifiers scale like so:
Ability Score  Modifier
3               -4
4-5             -3
6-7             -2
8-9             -1
10-11           +0
12-13           +1
14-15           +2
16-17           +3
18-19           +4
20              +5

Yikra Is pretty much done. She came into the monastery as a child, she has an odd blue color and a single yellow horn on her nose. Often mumbles about her past life, but some regret to discredit it through a burst of non threatening but stern tounge lashing and witty back talk. First half of the day she devotes to paying for her stay at the monastarie by working with a jeweler, takes a break a in the library reading, and then trains with her spear and darts.

Re: Session 0: Character & Group Planning

Jandar doesn't have much backstory as I'm rusty on all of this. He's a human bastard who doesn't know his parents and was raised by a few different people in his life. Unfortunate circumstances saw him join a troupe of thieves at a young age, and he has since lived within their ranks in one way or another. They moved often and he has seen quite a few different villages. Recently he has severed most ties with that band and is now somewhat at odds with them. That doesn't mean he has stopped thieving though.

Hi everyone, I am Teranthvar Evaliir, group Bard looking to soothe and empower the group through music, provide insight on ancient things, and provide you with any manner of falsified documents, coin, and items to press onward.

I don't have much of a backstory. Let's say he is a High Elf who has decided to drop out of High Elven college unbeknownst to his family looking for some fun. He likes gambling, drinking, and knowing things.

Howdy, folks. New to this game, playing a wood elf druid. First roll was inauspicious - hope I can survive my first combat. LOL.

Some background, been playing D&D since 1980 - basic set and 1st Ed. Currently DM a 3.5 campaign with pretty much the same group of players. A lot of fun, great campaign created by one of the players. Fleshed a whole world that's on par with anything published. History, backstories, adventure hooks, the whole works.

I like most of what I've seen from 5E so far. Bought the boxed set, then the three book set and I like some of the streamlining of rules that I've seen so far. Seems like they've made combat simpler as well.

I'm here to learn the systems, and the rules and, most importantly, the nuances so that I can be a good companions to this budding group of heroes.

Cheer and well met,
Mike

Welcome Mike! I think we have good odds if we roll well on initiative. Low levels are  swingy.

I've played some Pathfinder, new world of darkness and 5e. I like 5e, it's streamlined and a lot if story has game mechanics, or vise versa :D. I asked to join because I wanted to experience play from an experienced DM and I like the freedom and spontaneity that can arise in play.

Roll high!
