Syndrael Ordel - High Elf Fighter
Kilvar Barrelchin - Hill Dwarf Monk
Patricus - Human Wizard
Drance - Halfling Rogue
Keton Stonehammer - Mountain Dwarf Cleric

Thanks for showing interest!

Feel free to use this thread as a short introduction to your characters or for any general questions you have that don't need to be private.

You will be beginning at Keep Lockpin, a short distance south-west of the box canyon that houses Stonehell. You've all been hired by an elf by the name of Rizilyn to locate the old laboratory of the Plated Mage somewhere in the dungeon. Rizilyn is an established wizard hoping to learn the Plated Mage's secrets. You've been offered a hefty sum of 25,000 gold, split between the lot of you if you manage to return with at least mediocre directions and some sort of proof of the discovery of the lab.

Seeing as this dungeon has been a proving ground for adventurers for over a hundred years, you each come bearing a rumor overheard about the dungeon.

I'll make the first post tomorrow. See ya then

Hey, everyone. A 6-second background for Kilvar is he was a former tavernkeeper and brewer on track to become owner. But due to some unfortunate events, he lost everything and has taken to the profitable life of adventuring to try and get the funds to open his own place. He's always got some alcohol on him and is always up for a good time.

Jallopy, should we go ahead and build our characters? And if so, is there a desired sheet you want us to use?

Hello everyone, its a pleasure to be playing with you all. I'm definitely going to be your fighter for this game, thank you all for having me and I promise I'm going to do my best for everyone.

There is some chance I might be changing my character name, race, and background; depending on how things go as I talk some things over with the DM. Sorry for that trouble, I wanted to get into the game very badly so I wrote up the first character that came to mind on the RTJ. Sorry for the trouble.

Calisca's backstory is fairly simple a straightforward, she was born as simple peasant farm girl in a small village in a part of this particular fantasy world that was particularly fuedal in nature. Unfortunately her homeland suffered a series of rather nasty invasions, rebellions, and monster migrations which forced her local lord to call up all of his smallfolk levies including Calisca. She was called to arms when she was barely sixteen years old and spent years fighting alongside her brothers and the other people of fighting age from her village. In that time she saw many people she knew die, lost at least one of her own brothers, became a hardened warrior, and faced foes both human and inhuman. She had her lord killed more than once then have her levy taken up by someone new, had one lord or another commanding her levy change sides completely during a battle. Had her entire levy broken in battle then be reformed with the shattered remnants of other levies until she didn't know a single man or woman standing beside her. And of course marched so many miles that she learned to doze while marching in ranks.

Finally after the war ended and her levy was disbanded for the final time, she came back to her home village only to find it devastated by the war and with little hope of ever returning to prosperity without generations of blood, sweat, and tears. So now twenty five and having spent most of her life under the banners, she chose to leave home once again and sell the only skills she really has, her sword. She is happy to hire her blade to any mercenary company, caravan guard, town watch, lord's retinue, or adventuring party that is willing to pay.

Thoughts?

Thank you for sharing your own backstory Kilvar, I like it!

Patricus had an early life that presaged doom and destruction in his future, grown as an urchin had to take the life in the streers since the day his father died victim of his own vices. His mother did not have other option that selling herself as slave to pay the debt his father left due to his gambling addiction, the woman had to choose between giving her son as slave or selling herself, so before leaving urged little Patricus to do well and behave as a man.
Struggling for subsistence was a tough exercise but he assumed it with estoicism. He could have ended in the hands of any street gang who would probably had perverted his life but a twist of destiny made him meet an old sage that adopted as his own son. This old man called Guarin helped him to make something meaningful out of his life and also helped him to get into the path of the magic.
When Patricus grew an adult and after his mentor died, he tried to find her mother to try to free her from slavery but it was too late, the harsh life she got and the cruelty of her masters drove her to the tomb.
Patricus tried desperately to find her body but she never could be found.
Instead looking for revenge he decided to do something better to honor his mother's memory: help those in need with the use of his magic powers.

Welcome, everything's looking great so far.

Yes, you all can go ahead and make your character sheets, I'm just about to upload a simple one based off of Labyrinth Lord to the game page.

Take the standard array, standard equipment, and roll 3d20 for gold.
History is replaced with Appraisal, which allows you to estimate the value of items.
In order to streamline the narrative, I will be making the majority of your rolls, so I recommend taking a more descriptive, prose-style for combat, and taking your turns in any order.
If you don't know what any of that means, your fellow players and I will be happy to help.

Any other questions you all may have you can ask on here so we're all on equal ground, unless it's something you wouldn't want the party to see, then obviously you can PM me.

Hello I just got added in to the game most recently. Glad to be on board.

Short background. Drance comes from a performing family, the kind that shows up in your town with wagons and puts on shows that amaze. He's grown up learning all of those kinds of skills, surrounded by storytellers, acrobats, clever folk one and all.

It is easy for these kinds of people to get blamed for every bit of crime that happens when they roll into a town. It would be unfair to say that there isn't some petty larceny but it would also be unfair to characterize the troupe as nothing but thieves.

Drance hopes that by setting out for a life on the road - away from the troupe - he'll bring back some of the glory they lose when things go a little wrong.

Well meet everyone, its good to hear from everyone I am going to be playing with and it sounds like we have a very interesting group. I like all of your short backstories and I can't wait to see what comes of them.

I'll try to have my character sheet worked up by tommorrow DM, I hope that is alright?

Hey there! I will be submitting character sheet things today, won’t be done until this evening though. Still today, right?

Great to know ahead of time that it is a dungeon crawl

We roll 3d20 for starting gold. Is that to then purchase equipment?

Ha, had some extra time this morning. Nearly all done with character stuff, yes I'm excited.

That's right, Drance.
You would still have all of your starter equipment, but you're going to get a chance to buy anything else you'd want during your stay at the Keep, I know some people might want to prepare for the worst mwwWuaAHHHAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhHHH!
