Hero is very rough, and Origin needs some work but is pretty much print ready.

or

Eleven (11) Birthright Dots due to the four bonus Birthright Dots and five (5) Knacks from your Callings.

Which one of these?

Re: OOC Thread
Your choice between the two options. You can either have 2 extra knacks (total 7) or 4 birthright dots (total 11). This might seem unbalanced, but it's actually quite balanced as birthrights aren't always available, so even if you have a birthright give you a knack, it's only available while you have your birthright (built in flaw of all birthrights).

Both options are viable though.

Have to say, I'm really excited about some of the sheets and relics I'm seeing. I can't wait to see some of them unleashed onto an unsuspecting public in play :)

Ohh..I need to either add 4 birthright dots, or two more knacks! Choices, choices.

My personal recommendation is to grab the 4 extra birthrights. You can only "equip" 5 knacks maximum and you have to switch them out at milestones. They provide some versatility, but 4 dots of birthrights you always have available just screams better to me.

Re: OOC Thread
My tabletop players are also usually fans of grabbing extra birthrights, but anyone playing a 'skill monkey' type character tends to grab the extra knacks. Sure you need a break to switch them out, but it's always nice to be able to cover a lot of ground. :)

Re: OOC Thread
Well, technically speaking, with the two extra knacks, you can still have 5 equipped, just more immortal ones. Unless I'm hilariously wrong somewhere.

Re: OOC Thread
Another really good reason to take the extra knacks. Trading two for one super-knack appeals to some.

I prefer to load up on the basic knacks, but some of the bigger ones are very appealing :)

Re: OOC Thread
All of the knacks have quite a bit of value, depending on what you want to do. The mortal ones tend to be quality of life improvements while the immortal ones tend to be true powers without invoking the divine blood in your veins.

Re: OOC Thread
Though the immortal knacks count as 2 in terms of how many you can have active. Speak8mg as someone who just took two additional knacks ( because it was more thematic).

Re: OOC Thread
In reply to Nigel Clarke (msg # 42):

Not quite after rereading, they cost two dots to keep active, not that they are equal to two knacks. That said, without 5 dots in callings, you can only have 2 active at most and then one mortal, or you can have 1 immortal and 3 mortal or 5 mortal.

It's based on how many dots you have, so if you were to max out all your callings for the sake of argument, you could have 5 immortal knacks active at the same time.

It's really confusing in any case.

Each mortal one costs 1 dot to keep active. So you can only have 1 immortal or 2 heroic knacks. If you take an immortal knack or two with the extra knacks, you still need to switch out.

The idea is as you reach demigod, you can equip more

Re: OOC Thread
There's an example that explains it pretty in depth in the paragraph about Immortal knacks

quote:
Immortal Knacks are worth two Calling dots to keep active; thus, a Scion with a Warrior Calling of 4 can have two Immortal Knacks, four Heroic Knacks, or two Heroic and one Immortal Knack active at a time.

Yes, but that doesn't state that it eats 2 of your 5 knack limit.

Re: OOC Thread
Hey guys. Just grabbing and dropping some text here.

From Page 210.
Step Five: Callings and Knacks
Choose three Callings (p. XX). At least one of your character’s Callings must come from their divine patron’s three Favored Callings.

Your character receives two dots in one of their Callings and one dot each in the other two. For each Calling, choose a number of Heroic Knacks equal to the Calling’s rating. Alternately, you may choose a single Immortal Knack instead of two Heroic Knacks for your character’s two-dot Calling.

From Page 260.
Characters begin play with five Knacks from their Callings, one for each Calling dot a character begins with. One Knack may be swapped out for another during a minor milestone. Additional Knacks may be purchased with Experience, but a character may only have five Knacks “active” at a time, corresponding to their Calling dots, until they gain more by rising in Legend. Immortal Knacks are worth two Calling dots to keep active; thus, a Scion with a Warrior Calling of 4 can have two Immortal Knacks, four Heroic Knacks, or two Heroic and one Immortal Knack active at a time.

So every Immortal knack costs two knack 'slots' to buy at character generation and also eats 2 points of your knack limit when you load it up. Which is a pain at Hero level, especially at Legend 1, but going big at such a comparably low power level invariably means specialising in what you can do.

Re: OOC Thread
On another note, most of the sheets are done. I'm off to work shortly but when I get up tomorrow I'll get the game started and the bits I'm waiting on can catch up. There's no immediate need for serious dice rolling, and I'd sooner get started.

Thanks for being here :)

Just an FYI - I have had an emergency health issue with a member of my family and I'm likely going to have to head out of town in the next few days. I hope to be able to post while I'm gone, but if I slow down I hope you'll understand why.
