[Act I, Scene V] The Grapes of Abradac

Indeed, as Brother Brodd predicted, it was barely an hour's walk up a gently sloping hill. The trees get sparser as you see a wooden bridge over a creek. The creek trails along the outside of a wide fence of made of gathered stones as high as your waist. They must have been gathered from the field beyond when the grapes were first planted. The vines hang on wooden trestles in what are as far as you can tell neat rows. Beyond that the stone building sits on the hill, not as tall as a castle, but certainly as wide, with a wooden barn and several smaller structures scattered across the property.

A nice, intact wall.  Undamaged crops still in tidy rows.  Wholesome looking buildings.  Brodd had been so sure there would be obvious signs on strife in this war-torn land.  Maybe it wasn't quite so war torn?

After scanning the building for a good minute, he gestures to the party to hunker down by the stones and keep out of sight.

"The skull still is a warning," he reasons, trying to make sure the scouts aren't overconfident or lacking of caution.  "Be careful, see if anyone inhabits the place, and then return.  If it is deserted we had best be on our way to find the baroness."

After a nice lunch, of course.  And there was no point in letting an abandoned batch go sour, either.  Brodd is sure Amalrik could take care of such a potential problem single-handed!

"We'll be on overwatch Brother Brodd. My bones crack too much for sneaky-business, and this one has a habit of marking his territory and getting side-tracked."

"Good luck children. May your steps fall into His Prints."

Chomper wagged his tail at the word Lunch.

Sasar nods at the scouts.

"Good luck and be safe."
