Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

Dwarghar shook his head when he seen the feather head running the wrong way. He ran out after him dodging as he went. He lived in theses mountains and knew the terrain. He knew that he was heading towards an area with even looser rocks."Feader 'ead you die goin dat way. Bad... rollin rock. Slide off... go mush. Come ta cave or ya die. Dwarghar live 'ere no place good. Come feader 'ead or die."

Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

Manaku grabs Harald's arm.

"You can't outrun the boulders!" he shouts over the growing din.

The pale elf pulls Harald beside him in a crevice with inches to spare. The elf winces as larger rocks clatter against his floating transparent shield, throwing magical sparks everywhere.

"How am I supposed to prepare to meet my ancestors when you people keep making worse mistakes than I do?"

[If Dwarghar insists on running out there I'm going to need a roll against his DEX. It's great RP but his career might be very short-lived.]

"Harald! Stay to my right and run TOWARDS the cave!"

Manaku sees an opening, and pulling the bard along makes a break for it. Rocks continue to slam against his magical shield, and the floating runes in the energy pattern grow hazier with each impact.

Having ushered his horse in to the cave's entrance, Einhard turned to look at the manticore. "You trapped that thing?" he asked the dwarf. His eyebrow raised in doubt. "How long do you think that is going to hold?!" The knight kept a close watch on the creature looking for any sign that it is about to break free and charge the group.

Mistah Wong doesn't answer, but there does seem to be a wooden cart sitting in the passageway further down.

Manaku finally drags Harlan into the safety of the cave, only stopping to slap the bard once when he broke away to recover his floppy hat when it fell to the dusty ground.

He rested one hand against the wall while he stopped to catch his breath.

Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

"Come on Amalrik, you're not that thick," Creston said to the barbarian. "There are only two reasons why a cart would be in a cave. Either somebody was using it in here, or somebody hid it in here. If you want to know which, look inside and see what they left in the cart. I bet it's dirt and rocks." Creston gave Amalrik a nudge toward the cart. "Go ahead. The cart probably won't bite."

Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

When Regdoc finally reached the cave, he considered the odd dwarf while gasping to catch his breath. Chomper panted a little, but didn't seem overly worked. The old cleric untied the tether and coiled it back on the hound's pack. He scratched Chomper head and patted him on the chest, whispering something in the dog's floppy ear, the response to which was a juicy lick. Regdoc tried to dodge it, but Chomper's tongue was amazingly long and agile, connecting with the oldster's upper lip and nose.

"Bah!"

"You, dwarf, yes you. You say you CAUGHT the manticore or were trying to catch it?" Regdoc asked.

Then, turning toward the cart and the interior of the tunnel, he nodded his affirmation to Creston's suggestion to the warrior. Regdoc allowed his eyes to adjust to the gloom a little and tried to make out what was further in.

"Somebody'd best break-out a torch. Looks like we're subterranean again."

Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

The ground continues to tremble as hobbit-sized boulders are chased by dwarf-sized boulders, which are immediately set upon by human-sized boulders, all rolling away from a few hillgiant-sized boulders.

You feel quite relieved to be watching this destructive scene without being trapped in it.

Re: [Act II Scene III] Approaching the Mountaintop

The dwarf ambles over and examines the cart.

”Eh? Is a mining cart! Big Enuff to trap MANTICUR in Maybe?”

He leans over scrounging through the rocks and spots a hissing lizard. He reaches for it  in, and tips end over end and falls in.

”Mom’s Cave Lizard Stew!  We eats good tonight!”

The cart starts rolling down the cave.

”HA HA YOU GONNA BE JUICY!”

His laughter turns to screams as the cart tips over at the end of a mine shaft.

His scream echoes and fades.

The lizard peeks its head up as the cart tilts back up, looking both relieved and confused.

"Mistah Wong, what just happened?'

Mistah Wong stares back at the goblin with empty eye sockets wishing he had shoulders to shrug.
