Re: [Act V, Scene IV] Spiraling Down

A second hobgoblin stands up from behind the marble counter as well. He throws a dagger at Alietra through the archway as stoops to pick up an arrow.

11:30, Today: DM rolled 14,4 using d20,d4 ((14,4)).

She collapses on the floor.

[Alientra is now at -1 hp and requires immediate healing to survive.]

Confused, my arrow was outside of the door, there is hobgoblin outside of the room?

Einhard's sword swings down as he charges and connects with the second hobgoblin's skull, cleaving his brain in two. He slides downward off the blade and collapses in a heap behind the counter.

As the holy powers of Brother Brodd surge thru her body, Alietra's eyes open up, and she takes a deep breath, grateful to be alive.

Re: [Act V, Scene IV] Spiraling Down

The room is now deathly quiet. A cursory examination reveals there were only two hobgoblins in this room. One of them is rather short and  scrawny for his kind; he may have been the "goblin" that escaped into the room before.

This is nice.

Re: [Act V, Scene IV] Spiraling Down

In reply to Dwarghar Stoneblood (msg # 120):

Dwarghar pieces together in his mind how this chamber must have looked. There are dirt-filled holes in parallel lines leading to the counter that must have held wooden or metal poles, possibly strung with ropes or chains into several lanes. He can even point to the indentations in the floor where visitors were queuing for centuries.

The counter was set for human height, but a couple steps at the end of each lane could make it easy for a dwarf to take a look at the dusty surface. And these dirt-filled lines in the marble counter...a quick jab at one with a dagger picks away the dirt. Just the right size for a silver piece.

Dwarghar looks side to side to make sure no one is watching, he reveals a silver piece from his stash and tries putting it in the slot...it's probably a waste but his curiosity propels him.

There's a sound of metal on stone, then a rolling beneath towards the center of the counter, then the sound all adventurers know: the distinctive CHING of a coin falling into a pile of its kin.

A pile? The young not-thief begins to search for access, if it is here, or if it is not, some sense of where I might be.

I also grab the key, announcing to the party that I have found such.
