It's a shame to lose Travis, especially after playing him so long to die when he's just been reunited with the party.

That's not too bad. I had a shingles vaccine a few years back and couldn't lift my arm above the shoulder for a day or two.

I've debated getting the Shingles Vaccine. I had ALL of the childhood diseases pretty much.

I have some other health issues that make these things important, per my physicians over the years. I even got a pneumonia vaccine years ago, when my kidneys went south. From what I hear, Shingles are damn painful, you might look in to it.

My roommate has been diagnosed with Kidney Disease, yesterday, bad Type 2 diabetes and Prostate Cancer too. I worry about him. My wife is 68, other than being Schitzo-effective bi-polar, she is in good health. I have Type 2 diabetes too, high blood pressure, I get my flu and pneumonia shots though.

I don't think I have ever sold an old computer. I 'built' my 386 and 486. Too lazy to do that kind of thing anymore. I had a Commodore +4, which was a real niche computer. I hear the 128 was pretty sweet, for the day.

I had Spectravideo (SV-328). Ah, joys of loading a game from Compact Cassette. I had tons of games for it too...

I turn 51 in June. I’ve had shingles twice in my life an it’s no fun at all.

Don't know why...but I always assume everyone on forums and message boards is younger than me. Obviously not the case here...I'm in good company. I'm also old enough to remember playing on the Commodore 64...waiting to load games up via cassette. I even remember playing Pong and thinking how cool that was! Of course, my kids can't comprehend life before limitless wifi...let alone life without computers!

So I spent part of my vacation at the local hospital. Was worried about a blood clot from the first vaccine, turned out to be cellulitis. The action will resume shortly.

Now I feel stupid....luckily Durek is smarter than me.

Dwarghar had an occupation as a Trapper before he became an adventurer. When the party met him he was is an addled state, carrying a trap around that he vowed to use to catch the manticore that ate his family, even though the trap was obviously too small. He snapped out of it, though.

In return for a great character backstory, Dwargher had the Traps ability of a 1st level Thief, which would not increase.

OK, I'm not sure how I f'd up reading the saving throws. Mea Culpa.

The adventure I'm reading from doesn't say what the poison actually does...

Great news! Tomorrow might be a bit rough, it was for me.

Just had my first on Sunday...I'm 49 and in the UK where we've just started doing 45-49 year olds now all over 50s have had theirs. Moderna for me. Luckily I've not had any side effects. Have to wait till July for the second dose.

Just curious, if the GM keeps track of such things, how long were we actually in the dungeon? Seems like a very short time. Twenty minutes? An hour? Seems like one trip a day, of an hours length each, is going to be very slow going.

Ah, a player for Starshell! Awesome!

Just think of it as a long-running soap opera where a new actor takes over the role of an existing character and they then spend the episode repeating the character's name a lot and re-establishing who he or she is.

To be honest, it's hard as a new player to know exactly how your 'existing' character fits in. I actually skimmed through most of the IC threads before I joined and even then I missed a lot. And there are a LOT of pages of threads!

I saw it in the theater too, and when Logan's Run hit TV a few years later I had to watch it again because they pushed it hard as 'starring Farrah Fawcett Majors" because Charlies Angels has become a big hit during the interim, and I didn't remember her in it. Turned out she had a tiny part as a secretary in a Doctor's office.

I have also enjoyed the book, and the TV show, which was sadly very short lived.

I never played a paladin before: maybe it's time for Starshell to have a crisis of faith...   ;p

A lot depends on how the GM expects a Paladin to behave, and I have seen the gamut.

I once got quite upset with a GM who allowed a Paladin to gouge the eye out of an imprisoned giant for no real reason, without repercussions.

I doubt things are that open for you here, but I suspect there is some leeway.

For example, you are already in a group with the kind of characters that would be impossible under the most strict interpretation of what a Paladin would allow. I would like to think the GM hasn't set you an impossible task by teaming you up with us.

I am curious how your character will respond when she finds out a party member is wanted by the king though. Not me, FYI.

I read a few earlier Pock posts, but not a ton of them. I think I saw that old Pock was a bit chubby in comparison. :)

That's how I read it, but do not assume there are no longer any undead before us.

DM...just so I can picture it in  my head....the Hall of Corpses runs West to East? We entered from the West? And the side chamber with the sarcophagi we entered last delve was along the north or south side?

The Hall of Corpses runs South to North from where you descended the staircase to that level. The sarcophagus chamber was in a space on the east side, pushing more or less north and east.

I've seen a number of people do it and wonder if they do it out of habit, convenience or not knowing better! Seeing "In reply to -- (msg#--)" over and over rather clutters the reading space (IMHO).

Never worked in a place that gave me a phone. I have an odd habit of getting hired in places right after they tighten up the benefits. I think I was in the first wave of people at my last job not to get printed business card. On the plus side, I was the first class in Basic not to be required to do  PT in combat books, so I feel like it balanced out over time.

'82 I think, around there. We were also the last class to eat C-Rations and the first to eat MRE's, they switched mid-class. I would have been in the same term as you if I had joined straight out of high school. I did two years of Jr. College first, went in as an E3 with E4 guaranteed in six months.

I don’t mind your romance. I’ve always been a little bit jealous of Durek- he’s got +1 more to hit than I do and +1 HP and started with heavy armor. I thought maybe his beard was even a little thicker. But I am sad to see him go. I liked the old block the firebugs with his axe routine that was nice. Hopefully someone else will adopt him and I can stoke my envy once again.

To be honest, this game has been a drag, and there have been a lot of little niggles that bothered me, but this was the last straw. Please drop me from your game as well.

I really can't see anything to be bothered about. Just people being people, and very mild at that.

Oh goodness what silly nonsense is this? I though this is a ROLE-PLAYING game. I don't mind romantic things as long as they stay within game rating.

On another note, my logins have been a bit sporadic lately. I'm on vacation and I occasionally go off-grid places for a day or two, plus other things I've planned for these few weeks. I'm still active in the game even my posting is not as frequent as before.

Of course, after several plane stops when I finally get home and eat at the local deli THEN I hear a woman  in the booth behind me say "I've been feeling terrible since Thursday, I'm getting a COVID test on Monday." She then goes on to talk about how she's not going to change her schedule even if she is sick, including going to a baby shower. SERIOUSLY?

It's entirely possible some folks missed out a bit in the brain dept but were overblessed in the vocal department (and I def do not mean anyone here)

It's the same dungeon you were just in. If your party took maps along the way (one hopes), they can use them to navigated deeper in the dungeon or to other areas they haven't explored, like the barred door on the first level.

The old player may well have had hard copy maps of where the group has been but unfortunately I don't and I haven't found any e-maps. So, aimed at others players in the same sandpit, please would any of you be able to help me (as a player) know what my character does ?

If literally no mapping was f=done then g=fine, but it would be useful to know so I can stop looking.  :)

I'm not an original player but as far as I can see no one has ever tried to map the dungeon.

Roughly the dungeon goes like this, from top to bottom.

Fire beetle cave - Hall of bones - Hall of copper coins and amphorae - Dragon cave - Swirling Lake

Would you know if each of these has been thououghly searched?
And how many exits?

Alternatively, are the relevent threads "Delve 1", "Delve 2" etc ?

If it's relevant, i.e. multiple pathways, I'm happy to draw a map.

I think that someone was working on maps, but I think that we lost those players. I am very poor at mapping, so I usually leave it to those more skilled in such matters. Other than that, I know that Travis' description is accurate--I think that the sealed door we haven't breached is between the fire beetle cave and the hall of bones.

The last time we passed the fire beetle cave it was uninhabited, so it might be worth searching thoroughly.

(And, unfortunately, the COVID crisis has shown a lot of people to be morons. It just goes that way sometimes, I suppose...)

Alright, I'll work on a rough sketch of what you've explored so far and post it as an image in google docs tonight, and send you the link.

ALso, Manaku will be on hiatus for life reasons, so we'll assume he stayed at base camp until the player comes back.
