Erveck Zola
Erveck Zola hails from a continent called Wildenort, a years' journey by boat from the island of Chult.
Erveck was born and raised among the Wilden Volk, a massive tribal nation of various wood elven clans. The youngest of four, his parents raised the alarm early of human encroachment on their homelands. Erveck's mother died when the boy was young; his father and elder brothers all blame humans for her demise.
Erveck and his family were reduced to surviving as bandit raiders that pillaged the nearby human settlements. Though it was savage work, Erveck thinks of his childhood as idyllic and surrounded by the vast wild lands of his people. Though he did not savor the use of violence and terror, Erveck believed that his family was fighting to preserve the ways of the Wilden Volk.
Erveck met and fell in love with a human named Avoin. The young man was a huntsman whose respect for the wild mirrored that of Erveck's people. The two began meeting regularly while hiding their true feelings to their respective people. The young wood elf and human plotted to abandon their lives and run off to the coast.
Erveck underwent his the WildenVolk's rite of passage and received his clan's tattoos across his face, chest, and arms.
Avoin was killed by Erveck's eldest brother. Erveck's brother mistakenly thought the human man was attacking his youngest brother during one of their trysts. Devastated, Erveck cursed both humans and his own people and abandoned his family. After he left, the truth about his relationship with Avoin was revealed in a journal that the human kept, and his family sought to return Erveck back to his people. The young man fled to the coast with his clan's best hunters on his trail.
As if by terrible providence, a cataclysmic event struck Wildenort. Erveck managed to board a ship before the continent seemed to go up in flames. Erveck does not know what exactly caused the destruction of his homeland, but secretly holds himself responsible for cursing his homeland and his people. Witnessing the horror of the cataclysm profoundly changed the young man, and this is best evidenced in his hair turning shock white.
Erveck arrived at the ports of Chult with nothing more than what he carried. He wears a simple ring that Avoin made for him shortly before he died. He gladly took a job from an eccentric mage, using his unconventional skill set to fetch things and people.
