OOC:  Earnest should 'end' at (52,90) now moving diagonal towards the rear of the Comanche line.

I'm fine with that for now, but I'm not finding rules on turn radius. Do you have access to some?

quote:
Did the archer end up missing Earnest due to being shot?

Rather due to having her horse shot from under her, but yes.

quote:
And are there only 4 mounted Archers remaining and 7 mounted Spears?</Orange>

Correct. The archers have taken the brunt of the attack so far. Please notice that the objective is to protect the wagons.

Divide Velocity* by Basic Move, round down.  That's how many yards you must move straight forward before executing a single hex facing turn.

Basically, until you have a significant difference between Velocity and Basic Move (ie double), it's 1 yard.

In this case... despite Laith not being at double Basic Move, I chose to stick to 2 yards because.. well, honestly I forgot it was round down.  It could have been a tighter turn due to Encumbrance slowing him down (12/8=1.5, round down=1).

* Not a capitalized term of art in GURPS, but the word is used everywhere that they mean "current speed".

Note for anyone searching the Basic book for the Turning Radius rules they are on 394-396 under High-Speed Movement.

Its an archer, so she doesn't get +2 from all out defense. That's a hit.

I don't know if vulco is still around...

The archer gasps as she is hit in her side. She manages to stay on her horse though and continues the charge.

Mari rolled 3 using 3d6.  HT roll major wound (12).
She is reeling from her wound though.

I don't know about Vulco, maybe someone else can play his character?

I can pick up Vulco if needs be.  Give me a day or two to familiarize myself with the action and I'll be back in it.

Ben at (1,-2) is down 7 shots.

Earnest at (52,90) and is down 8 shots.

*Mari, who is she aiming at?

Its surprising, but readying a weapon is a great way to use your turn of -4 shock.

She is aiming at the one by the wagon who fired the most, which is Ben.

Doesn't the one with the -4 have her weapon ready already?

In post #83, there are three mounted archers with bows that are "Ready" but don't have an arrow nocked, and one that does. in post 96, they each progress towards a final state, with the one with an arrow nocked taking a second of aim, while the other three draw and nock an arrow each.

Daisy continues aiming at the 'center' archer.

Earnest takes aim at a 'center' spear wielder.

Ben will take aim at the archer he just hit, since the last shot just grazed her.

This turn no archer will fire, they want to get closer. So they are aiming when they can, or readying their bows.

Hey diddle-diddle, right down the ... err....hang on.  Let me check my notes.

Okay, let me recreate my notes.

And there we go.  After one turn of aim and Laithe moving on his last vector, Earnest and Laithe* are at 52,77.  Or 52,78 is we're ignoring actual map movement and are using 'coordinate math' (I've noticed that grid coordinates do not relate to movement on a hex grid properly, because @&^%@%#^* math).

* Okay, technically Laithe is occupying two hexes, but if we're using coordinate systems.... have I mentioned I hate math yet today?

Re: Cowboys and Indians: Charge!

And unless something horrible happens... all three are firing.

Earnest focuses completely on the shot and squeezes off two Rapid Fire shots, one hitting his target solidly.

Daisy and Ben fire at their targets...

OOC:  Earnest is All-Out Attacking (Ranged), Daisy and Ben are Attacking.

Earnest hits his target from behind, no defense.
Daisy potentially hits with both shots, two defenses at -1 each.
Ben potentially hits his target, normal defense.

Earnest:
17:40, Today: evileeyore rolled 11 using 3d6.  Earnest, AOA(R) Rapid Fire 12 (Skill 16 + 3 Aim + 1 Tracer Eyes + 1 AOA - 8 Range).  MoS +1, 1 shot hit.

17:42, Today: evileeyore rolled 9 using 3d6+1.  Earnest damage 3d+1 pi+.

Daisy:
17:42, Today: evileeyore rolled 9 using 3d6.  Daisy, Dual Attack 13 (Skill 18 + 2 Aim + 1 Brace + 4 Dual Att Tech - 4 Dual Attack - 8 Range).

17:44, Today: evileeyore rolled 7 using 3d6.  Daisy, Dual Attack 13 (Skill 18 + 2 Aim + 1 Brace + 4 Dual Att Tech - 4 Dual Attack - 8 Range).

17:45, Today: evileeyore rolled 3,6 using 1d6,1d6, SAPLE follow-up check (need 3 or less).

17:47, Today: evileeyore rolled 8,-1,4 using 1d6+2,1d6-3,1d6-2.  SAPLE Round with exp follow-up; 1d+2 pi+, 1d-3 [1d-2] cr ex follow-up.

So this is 8 pi+ (damage is x1.5), 0 cr exp, 4 fragmentation cut.  The frag would normally be damage x1.5, but this is internal so it's actually x3 (Basic 415).  So if this hits, that's a dead Comanche.

17:51, Today: evileeyore rolled 4 using 1d6+2.  SAPLE Round, no exp follow-up; 1d+2 pi+.

Ben:
17:53, Today: evileeyore rolled 5 using 3d6.  Ben, Attack 12 (Skill 17 + 3 Aim - 8 Range).

17:53, Today: evileeyore rolled 13 using 3d6+1.  Ben damage 3d+1 pi+.

Re: Cowboys and Indians: Charge!

The archer who has aimed at Ben for two seconds shoots now but misses him. Not by much though. The other archers keep aiming, with the exceptions noted below.

One spear girl is hit in the back and Earnest can see her jerk violently and drop her spear, before she slides off her horse. She is out of the fight, clearly.

Daisy's target gets lucky and evades the explosive round, getting hit only by the one that doesn't explode. She is still on her horse, gritting her teeth.

Ben has more luck this time. He can see his already wounded target get hit square in the chest, throw her arms up and tumble off her horse.

OOC:
Mari rolled 10 using 3d6.  Archer shooting at Ben. Short Bow 9 (Skill 15 +2 Aim -8 Range)
Mari rolled 13 using 3d6.  HT unconsciousness Spear Wielder (12).
Mari rolled 7 using 3d6.  Central Archer Dodge 1 (9).
Mari rolled 12 using 3d6.  Central Archer Dodge 2 (9).
Mari rolled 12 using 3d6.  HT roll major wound (12).
Mari rolled 11 using 3d6.  Ben's target dodge (7).
Mari rolled 14 using 3d6.  HT avoid death (12).

Derrick:
One Bow wielder is just behind the line at (12,46) has one second of aim*.

*Mari, who is she aiming at?

This one is aiming at the one with two guns (unfair! ;), so that means Daisy.

Re: Cowboys and Indians: Charge!

I think the Spearman gets a defense. The rule about not being able to defend against attacks from the back is in tactical combat, and only refers to the back hex. Earnest is shooting from 52 yards to the side and 45 yards behind his target-- the shot passes through the left hex, not the back hex.

As for being aware of the attack, the target took all out defense last turn, and Earnest's position is hardly discrete. Just annoying. I can see an argument for giving a -1 or -2 to dodge since attacks are coming both ways, but with rules as written, he gets a dodge vs. 12.

As far as I can see the one who "is just behind the line" was not shot and did not need to Dodge.  The one who Dodged has a Shock penalty.
