In reply to The Great Karnac (msg # 40): Officer

"Oh dear what about this panicked woman.  She seems to think I intend to do her child harm...

Sorry young one.  Bobby but I am not a member of that Crusader group. I am just a simple Drifter.

Miss do calm yourself I am just passing by with no ill-intent towards anyone at all. Indeed I am just trying my best to help.

Officer I am most happy to go with you this situation seems to becoming far too volatile  for good relations.  What is that woman's boggle?

I will happily accompany you Officer even though I hardly was involved in that situation last night.  That been said I must ask if it will take more than an hour to reach the randevu?

Officer Januchowski addresses the crowd, "No one is in any danger, this man is considered a friend of the force and has shown himself to be an upstanding asset to the community. However, he can't stay to answer your questions as we are in the middle of police business. Please clear the way, we are here to serve and protect."
As the crowd disperses, Officer Januchowski steps around to the driver's side door and gets in the squad car.

"Well thank-you Officer.. Martin"  quickly reading his name off his badge.  "That is very kind of you" slipping into the patrol car to buckle up pronto, once the safety is on Easing the rather bulky Mini Gun onto the space provided next to me as best as I could. Now I will not forgetting to check on my other devises either.  Aero-Disks, Auto Graph book, Twinky.  Hmm how many years have I had that thing? I am beginning to think they are right when they say, Twinkies can last forever even though shelf life is only about 45 days.  Oh what am I saying? I don't even have a twinky but would it not be a grand thing if I did?

"Err pardon me Officers but do either of you know of anyone who may be interested in purchasing a Non Lethal Mini Gun by any chance?  Picked this beauty up a couple of Dimensions over from a rather interesting Manufacturer/Salesperson."

It is no more than a ten minute car ride, with sirens and lights. The officers assist Drifter in moving the minigun into the holding armory inside the door, and while Martin fills out paperwork, Januchowski escorts Drifter to the task force area.

Various Locations - Currently "Casa Del Sombrero"

A few days after the debriefing, government sources contact the heroes (possibly through the hero's contacts, possibly through official channels).
The heroes receive the following information
  • The East Coast of the United States is currently being blackmailed by a previously unknown group known as THe Force. This group has stolen a deadly bacteriological agent (S-97) from the military and has planted it and a medium sized nuclear weapon somewhere on the East Coast.
  • The weapon will be detonated in such as way as to spread the agent over an approximate 100 mile radius. This particular agent was originally created by Mechanon, and the effects are too horrible to reveal to the public.

"Swell just swell and so typical. Do we even get a brief on symptoms, communicability or incubation duration?  I may not be of graduate level in Bio chemistry but I can at least use such information in a pinch.

I am however more concerned about the delivery system.  If such a bacteriological agent can survive an atomic explosion? I really fear what it would mean to all life on this planet.  That fact gives me the conclusion or theory that we may have a nano virus. Especially taking into account the designer.  But it is just a Theory a shot in the dark as it were.

Oh the one major flaw in my theory here is Mechanon does not exist in this Parallel Earth... I hope.

Sheesh KK I am coming in, better put on a fresh pot so I can at least enjoy the smell of fresh coffee.

err just where is it I am supposed to go? I am assuming The Cop Shop and Broyko?"

In reply to The Great Karnac (msg # 46):

David got the message on Shade's phone. Which was technically his phone he only used as Shade. He knew just enough about computers to know how easily GPS could be tracked. So he proceeded to get Shade his own phone with his own account he paid for via cash.

Was it overly paranoid? Given the very weird life he now lived, it might actually be a little less paranoid then needed. After all, sooner or later some villain psychopath in going to get it in their head to kill Shade and anyone he cares about. David could avoid all that by just using his powers to get literally any scoop he wanted and make a mint. After all, not everybody had superhero connections like Darryl Starre and Joan Dillon.

That being said, he was not above using his powers to help him get info he needed. He just made sure to put anything online or published as himself, not Shade's personal reporter. In fact, Shade never stuck around to talk to the press as a rule, much less the cops. That is, until now.

"A virus AND a nuke!? Anyone ever heard of overkill?" David said after reading the horrible news on Shade's phone. He finished his sandwich, looked at himself in the mirror as he liked to do before...putting on his 'outfit'.

David flipped the light switch, and the room went dark. Then it went very, VERY dark...and Shade flipped the switch back on. The clearly inhuman form standing where the very normal David had been.

Shade looked at himself in the mirror, his now bizarre reflection looking back. "Time to go to work!" He said in his now static-like voice. He flowed downward into the blob of shadow his new body seemed to form out of. Transporting himself to the Crusader Tower.

Neuromancer asks his source,

"Have they made any requests? How did they get their hands on Mechanon tech and bio-research? Have there been any thefts or missing materials lately? Who do we talk to once we get there?"

Various Locations- currently UNTIL's Central City location

Darryl was chatting with an agent, Sergeant LeBeau. The Frenchwoman was not only attractive, she was a good sparring partner. When Darryl got the notification he excused himself, saying "sorry, my dear. A story beckons." He heads for the 4th floor, where he knows the Officers Break room is, next to the Situation room. He sees the Captain and asks "Steve? I've got a local situation. Is there anything you can share with me regarding a group called "The Force" or a virus, S-97?"

Shadow Strike had been a shadowy vigilante, fighting crime where the police wouldn't or couldn't. He tried to stay out of the way of the police and the Crusaders, but when the Crusader's went missing he just couldn't stand by and not do anything. A few days ago he'd contacted the police and offered his services. The response had been a secured smartphone. The one that now displayed the ominous message displayed in cheery color, along with an invitation to come to the new Metahuman office at Police Headquarters. He hesitated for only a moment, then walked out of his office and addressed his secretary. "Something's come up and I have to take a few days off. Er, 'Family business'. Can you clear my calendar for, say, the next week? Thanks!" With that he headed out of the office. A short trip home to change out of his suit and then he was off to Police Headquarters.

In reply to Shadow Strike (msg # 52):

Shadow Strike paused on the roof of the building across the street from the Police Headquarters and contemplated his next move. Being called in to work on a (literally) life changing terrorist threat was both flattering and terrifying, however his first real challenge would be getting past the receptionist ...

Fortunately, he'd visited Headquarters a couple of times and had a good idea of the layout of the front lobby. A moment to focus and soft "pop" later he was standing in front of the receptionist. She gave out a yelp and jumped back just a bit as 6 foot of masked man appeared out of thin air. He was lean and muscled and wore a midnight blue form-fitting suit that covered him from head to toe, over this was a knee length lightweight jacket of the same color. "I'm sorry to have startled you. Detective Broyko requested to see me right away. The name is Shadow Strike".

Sailfishking

Finding the mooring of the Sailfishking is easy. It is also easy to see that the yacht holds a crew of approximately a dozen, all men. There are two other men aboard that do not appear to be part of the crew. Although the crew is normally dressed in tan shirts and trousers with deck shoes, the other two men are seen in different clothing at different times.

Re: Various Locations - Currently "Long Island Sound Marina"

From a distance of about two miles up the the docks Drifter will take a stroll along the bottom of the Marina gathering a small amount of flotsam till he is beneath the Sailfishking.

Once there he shifts again so that he could enter the ship cautiously via the spirit plane or as some would call it... Ethereally. poking his face through the bottom of the hull first in an attempt to see if the area was occupied.

Opps he just dropped his flotsam and it had a rather cute boot to boot in it. Such a pity.
Keeping radio silence once at the dock by simply by turning the device turned off.

However the ship is inspected and reconnoitered, the only thing you'll see is the crew doing routine maintenance. The two other men on the ship do different things. One of them is seen on deck once in awhile talking on his cell. The other, when he does emerge, is wearing clerical clothing that appears to be a sort of hooded cassock. Usually, he speaks to a crew member or two then returns below decks.

Darryl tells the rest of the group "I'm going to approach the place openly, see if I can't get invited aboard, willingly or not. When their security focuses on me, that will give some of you a window to slip onboard yourselves, whether by stealth or other means. Everyone okay with that?" Darryl repeats that over the radio for those not beside him. He waits for responses.

The man with the cell phone comes above deck, and is walking around talking on the phone. It is just after noon, so maybe he's ordering lunch. In any case, it is obvious that this man provides some sort of security as he is armed. His clothing is all black, and as soon as he comes into the sunlight he adds dark aviator sunglasses to his outfit. Every other person you see aboard appears to be unarmed, and engaged in maintenance or cleaning of the vessel, with the exception of the robed person.
There is no information as to the vestments worn by the members of the Church of the Divine Harmony.

The pizza is delivered, and the crew is fed. A few crew members leave in a van, returning in an hour or so and packing numerous boxes onto the ship. A bit later, a small truck with a tank and some of the crew drag a hose from the tank to the ship. Several crew members seem to be engaged in checking the status of an elaborate radar/sonar system with projectors and detectors in numerous places around the ship. As the sun sets, the yacht is clean and sparkling. A few of the crew leave the yacht, no longer wearing what is apparently a shipboard uniform.
