Re: Becoming A Tortuous Tuesday

All the available information is now in the hands of our intrepid adventurers. The sparsity of said information has left four possible paths:
  1. Find the Sailfishking and try to figure out why Jonas mentioned it.
  2. Go to Kansas and try to track Jonas's movements within the commune.
  3. Scour the available avenues of information (web, contacts, informants, the wino in the alley that'll tell you everything he knows for five bucks) for clues on Force and the S-97 virus.
  4. Go back into Crusader Citadel and watch Horsin' Around reruns.

Darryl calls Broyko and reports the body, asking for a Forensics team. While an apt investigator, Starre was never all that good with the science stuff. He the looks up the Church on a web search, looking for local articles written about it.

As I move closer towards my objective the thought of that body burns in my mind.  I must remain calm if I am to bring his Murderers to task.

"Allright guys. We indeed need to follow as much leads as possible. And first of all, we need to do our beest to prevent other people to die from the S-97 effects. Does any of you know anyone in the genetic or nanotechnology field ? If we can't cure it, maybe we can find a way to slow its effects or reroute them so it's not deadly. I'll go and see what I can find with the US Army, and then move to Kansas. Anyone who wants to join is welcomed."

"If we are not going looking for nukes, it sounds like our time is best spent on hunting down the virus. I might be able to find out who is related to the virus' research. It can't be that big a field, given the fact its a very specialized virus." Shade said. "I'm going with you." He nodded at Knockout.

OOC-Experts can still be located. I said who was 'related' to the virus' research. It should be a small field of people, meaning those with available expertise should be easier to search.

"Actually, you have a good point. Forensics should be able to tell us if Jonas died from the effects of the nanotech virus. If so, then we have a nice, hard lead connecting the Church to the terrorist threat. In the mean time, why don't we do some quick and quiet surveillance on the SailFishKing."

Now to do a little cheating or what Drifter would like to call reconnaissance..  Once he has got close enough to be able to at least see the SailFishKing. He will take a trip into the Ethereal plane and slowly float at a minimum pace moving above the compound trying to imitate the movement of a wisp of smoke.  Taking note of any personal, vehicles and structures He can see.

"I have an idea. If you permit me to, I'll set up a link between our minds so that we can communicate quietly no matter how far apart we become. It's a surface link, so the only thoughts that come through are the ones you specifically address to it. There's no way to discover a secret through this form of link."
"Then while you're out investigating these leads I'll stay at Crusader Citadel and use their communications equipment to find more leads. I think that's the most efficient way to do it."

Hatter nods to himself, and waits, then asks, "ok, who wants to be linked up?"

Darryl volunteers. "I've had one before, no big deal. It would be useful to be able to call the cavalry if needed, and frankly my being there won't be odd. My cover story if I need it is that I'm looking into the disappearance of an old colleague of mine. If they think they can silence the press, I'm here to disillusion them."

His crime-solving skills were mostly learned from Scooby Doo cartoons, but he did have a point.

In reply to Free Bird (msg # 386):

Technically, there wasn't a single nuke stolen. Nuclear material has been reported stolen from numerous locations using multiple methods, and this may be assumed to be the raw materials from which the weapon was fashioned. The virus, on the other hand, was the result of a single theft. Thus far, no one has been able to ascertain where and when (and no one will declares the GM).

"I'll go to Kansas but not directly it would be od, I'll visit other religious people of less popular faiths and put the on the tour list. I'm an ambassador of an alien world its nt a bad way to get to see such people and will say its to place five people on the list to my home world on the first visit from among the lesser known faiths in the United States. And ten from world religions outside the United States some spots are set already the Vatican for example has one seat but I plan to visit that religious center and formally present the invitation to the Pope. But its a fine cover don't you think?," Mystika said as she considered her options.

Darryl bestows dubious looks on Free Bird and Mystika. To the avian he says "unless you have extraordinary senses or retrocognition you won't find out more than the government teams that have already processed the sites." He turns to the alien and says "that sounds like a cover story that would take days to set up properly...and I think we have less than 24 hours to head this off." He looks at those assembled. "how many of you are good at stealth and security systems. We may need to investigate the yacth quietly."
