New Character Entry Point
This is where new characters will start out. Roll your stats, fill out your character sheets, and then come here to get initiated, and form groups with other players. Once you join a group, you can move over to their thread. If you start a new group, let me know so I can start a new thread for you. Everyone who comes here receives the italicized interaction.

The grizzled administrator processes your paperwork without speaking. Finally, he looks up. "Welcome to Elantra, I will be the caseworker for your immigration account. My name is Westen. If you ever have any questions, come to me, and I will sort them out. I don't care who you are, or why you're here, just don't make any trouble for the townsfolk... Well, when there are some." He harrumphs, clearly having amused himself. "Now, be on your way. If you need a job, the count probably has something that needs doing, or perhaps one of the shopkeepers. If you want to go your own way, there are always bandits and animals in need of looting. Now begone, I have work to do." With that he looks away, clearly dismissing you from his mind. You will clearly get no more from him.

You are in a 10X10 room with Westen, and his desk. In the corner is his bed. Behind you is a door.

New Character Entry Point
Westen has no trouble with the newcomer's paperwork: the wizard Kara fills out all the forms herself, in miniscule, but readable handwriting. She even has her own ink (black as a raven's feathers!) and quill (an actual raven's feather), and doesn't waste the the grizzled administrator's resources!

Kara marks "arcane knowledge", "occult investigations", "supernatural defenses" and "all-around eldritch knackery" as her strong features on the questionnaire. She puts "librarian" in the "profession" field.

"Thank you," she says when done. "Just one question: is the evil Lich King's former residence, uh, open to visitors?"

In reply to Kara (msg # 2):

"Only those with a special writ from Count Brandeis may legally access the Dark Keep. If you wish though, you may go to the library, and look through the maps. The Lich King had a number of treasure vaults hidden throughout the lands." Westen makes a shooing motion. "If you wish to bring the matter up with him, go see the Count. Otherwise, the library is the first door on the left when you leave my office. It's not much right now, as it only houses books we looted from the one treasure stash a scouting party happened upon."

"Splendid!" Kara exclaims. She has seen all kinds of books in all kinds of libraries. But the Lich King's personal tomes? Now that's something else! And the mention of treasure vaults also piques her curiosity: those must house blasphemous artifacts and dark sorceries of the necromantic kind! Sweet!

She says goodbye to Westen, and goes to check the library first. A meeting with the Count sounds like serious business: Kara assumes permission to visit the Dark Keep is granted only to those of a higher standing, then a simple newcomer.

But libraries! Kara is good with libraries.

In reply to Kara (msg # 4):

Roll a d20. I'll give you a result based on the roll. I don't doubt your character's ability to read, so no skill checks, just pure luck.
