Re: OOC 2
The trouble isn't the number of players, it is the number of separate threads.  Running two groups of 10 characters isn't difficult, but when they are alone or in small groups there isn't any self management, everything is direct GM interaction or nothing.

Re: OOC 2
For what it's worth, I'm still game to continue playing this game; I like my character and the style of the game. It'd be a shame to abandon it completely. I do agree that "accept everyone" games with a dozen or more players are a lot of pressure on the GM to provide a satisfying experience for all involved and less players usually means better longevity/involvement, but by no means is that the rule. Of course, if the GM isn't interested in or able to continue, for whatever reason, then no game can (though that said, I guess it'd be possible to hijack a game from the player seat...).

In reply to Vanel Giltlock (msg # 61):

I run one of the larger games here on the site and I just wanted to say (vent) that the GM Burnout wouldn't be as bad if Players on Rpol (I find myself lacking this as well) would have more back and forth as characters. This Problem is something I've seen in the smaller games as well. A GM post can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour depending on what's Happening while many in character Posts are Maybe 2 or 3 lines if the Player isn't super descriptive.

So often is it a massive post by the GM that describes a Scene or challenge and the Players each post once two Hours later and expect the GM to move Forward. Rarely do I see multiple posts by a single character between the larger GM updates. A Little discussion between characters on their plan or even just conversing between them about themselves would allow the GM a day or two of reprieve so that he can get to everyone at a Steady pace.

I am not saying that it is the Players fault that the GMs for These games are having all their issues with Posting rates and inconsistencies but it's up to everyone playing a game to Keep it going not just the GM.

Another way to solve the GM issue is for more People to offer up their services as a GM. I would love it if someone said they'd run a Group or two for me. If my game had 3 GMs instead of one I think it'd go smoother... maybe.

Re: OOC 2
A lot of that is dependent on player style, but some of it is GM style as well.  I to run a significantly sized game, probably not the largest at any point but it has gone over 30 players, and I find that setting players up with a clear puzzle to solve or getting them in groups of 8 or more will tend to spin them up for interaction fairly easily.

The trouble many games have is thinking like a table top environment where 4 players can easily interact with each other, in text you need at least 6 or 7 and probably more before you can get the level of activity in any given thread to maintain momentum without a direct GM interaction.

I am currently GMing the Guild for almost a year now.

That sounds like a good idea so I'll give that a shot at some point and see how it goes. Advise is always appreciated. :)

Hello everyone! *Nervous sweat on brow*

When I said that I would enjoy more back and forth it was in no way slander against all you guys. It was just something I noticed while GMing... don't hurt me... ;)

Though all jokes aside I had a feeling a couple of you were in the game but boy was I wrong about who was who.

Re: OOC 2
Hey everyone, so I'm really sorry for bailing. I got overwhelmed by a lot of personal stuff, and couldn't keep up with the game anymore, but I should have said something rather than ghosting. That's on me, and I take responsibility for doing the wrong thing there. As things stand, I still feel like crap, and can't handle restarting this right now, but I just wanted to give a bit of closure to anyone who still cares.

No worries. The priority should always be your wellness. Thanks for popping in and letting us know. It was a fun game, and if you ever decide to revive it, I'd definitely be in. Thanks for the fun!

Re: OOC 2
For anyone who's interested, I'm starting up a 6-person game with a homebrew version of D&D 5e. Basically, the idea is that instead of casting magic via spell-slots, you use collectible cards. Anybody of any class should be able to use any card, though if you don't have the relevant casting class levels, you do it with a penalty of some kind, or only get the base value with no scaling.

(fingers crossed that the link works)You can find it here:
