Re: In the Dining Hall...

Nods "Indeed.  We have stories of Merfolk and Aqua-Fae, but I don't know of anyone who actually met any.  So Rebma may be more special and unique that either of our homes."  He looks at Ari "Earth soldier might be very useful.  Perhaps we can find some and incorporate them into our forces. Or we can start an organization to defend Earth, Amber, Rebma and the Faewylds from invasion."

Jade beams, "Well then your all lucky, you have met one, and the King has even married one." She thinks on things.

"Amber soldiers are pretty good. Especially if you use lightning in the castle."

Re: In the Dining Hall...

In reply to Jade (msg # 474):

Ariadne was nodding, her eyes moving side to side slightly,  as if she were going over plans to recruit Earth mercenaries.
Then she looked up quickly, all but doing a literal double take as she looked at Jade with wide and almost scandalized eyes.
"Wait, what???  You?  You're a mermaid??  I mean....that...."
As she tried to wrap her head around that, she looked at Jade again incredulously

"What!? Lightning in the castle!?!?  What??"

"A siren is the technical term."

She then looked at the ceiling, "The lightning was, just a light show." She smirks a bit.

Re: In the Dining Hall...

Ariadne smiled and chuckled,  nodding
"I'll have to show off some Earth fireworks,  or maybe a drone light show."
She took another drink of her juice.  Was it papaya juice?  Some kind of pomegranate?
Maybe something else?  It was an odd orange-red color,  so maybe it was spme weird fruit from another magical world.

Looking at Jade, she nodded thoughtfully
"A siren, eh?  Well, if it's not rude to ask, what does that entail,  technically?  Can you breathe underwater?  How fast can you swim?"

Re: In the Dining Hall...

Jade nods, "Siren is what the magically inclined women of Rebma are called. Rogues and traitors are often called sea hags, though they are not necessarily ugly unless cursed by a siren. All in Rebma are very good swimmers. The tail though, the fish tail is illusory unless a siren has more potent shape shifting abilities."

Jade tries to bring up an illusory tail.

16:48, Today: Jade rolled 9 using 2d6+2 with rolls of 1,6.  Glamoury fish tail.

Ariadne blinked in surprise at the illusionary tail appearing, then chuckled
"I suppose it makes sense that you're mostly a regular person with magic spells.  That makes a sort of logical sense.  How common is shapeshifting?"

"I think it is more common among the Sea Hags. Oh and in Rebma, even you will be able to breath underwater so don't worry you will be safe."

Ari raised a dubious eyebrow
"What?  How does that work?  Do we all get magic potions to drink at the border, or something?"

"Well it is kind of a top secret thing for Rebma. I probably shouldn't talk about it but all the members of the royal family of Amber have been able to visit with no problems at all."

*nods* "Remember when we ran up the Stairs from Rebma?  We didn't get down all the way, but we were definite submerged and able to breath.  It was surreal..." he cuts of midsentence as he is stunned by the beautiful illusion Jade produced.

He blushes slightly "Yes, I guess I have meet a real mermaid." in a low voice, giving Jade a big smile.

Re: In the Dining Hall...

Jade, "Yes the stairs were a big sign to show you all. It was fun to race with everyone. To gain the ability to breathe the waters seems to start there but you must stay within the borders or the crushing depths can be as dangerous as not being able to breathe."

Jade looks to Jon and smiles blushing a bit.

"So...is it that we get the ability to breathe water,  or that the water is, i dunno, enchanted to he breathable?"

"Well it is somewhat of a defense against most beings, though I suppose it might be used as a cage in some vague way. It is nice though to have visits on occasion and that provides allowances for such."

Re: In the Dining Hall...

Jon smiles "Magic is part of everything, it flows through all things and binds us all together. It is just that some are born with a greater affinity for Magic than others, but everyone has that spark in them and contributes to the world.  Even if we can't figured out how." chuckles "Well, at least that is what I was taught.  Since I don't or at least didn't have any talent for magic back home.  It made sense..."

Re: In the Dining Hall...

Jade nods to Jon's statement, "Yes, I believe the same. My spark was mostly inherited from my mother. Yet, I have always been a proponent that if you have imagination and a strong enough will, you should be able to wield magic. Of course stating such when around other sirens, marked me as a rebel. Magic comes in many forms, honestly more forms then even I am likely to know. Song works very well for myself and other Rebmans. Then there is the artistry of the cards, and some comes from within that innate spark that Jon mentioned. Magic for myself is art, an act of creation."

Re: In the Dining Hall...

This discussion was a bit out of Ariadne's field of knowledge, so she worked on her food, some of which had gotten a little cold as they had talked.
She was 4ekpted to contribute by talking about The Force, but that would be a rabbit hole that could take all day

"Well, I guess Prince Julian isn't coming to breakfast. Should we go seek him out, I would use his card but if he is still sleeping, I wouldn't want to disturb him."
She looks around to all gathered.

"I don't know if he has a schedule, Oh we can check if his horse is in the stables. He has a very unique steed named Morgenstern. If it is not there he may have headed back to Arden."
