OOC; general chit chat
Do I wait to get introduced, or am I just there with you all? I want to make sure I understand what is expected of me here.

OOC; general chit chat
We've just started and were instructed to introduce ourselves with our arrival at the farmhouse which will be our base of operations.  Honey is currently there.  Vait, Bai and myself are at a pit 200 feet away.

I feel like I read something like this before. Wasn't there an experiment with a perfect rat society like this? No external hardship from food, shelter, water, weather and the like.

I'll be going out of town until Wednesday, pretty unlikely I'll be able to post until that evening.

OOC; general chit chat
I wonder what the general population's resiliency to pain, suffering, or even just people speaking mean words to them is in this world. I mean, I learned how to ignore even the nastiest of things said to me in High School well before I was a Freshman. How fragile is the psyche of this society as a whole is nothing was ever said wrong about them ever? In real life, we know how dangerous words can be, but if we assume that no one has any sort of resiliance to insults due to no one lying or talking mean in any form, how dangerous are your words in this society without those years of thickened armor to the pointed barbs that can be invented on a regular basis?

Any thoughts on this? Still trying to get my bearings on some of the implications of these concepts. It's pretty wild.

society collectively and individually (yourselves included) has never heard criticism that wasn't constructive.

A beautiful glass sculpture protected from dust so that there is zero chance of damaging it because of a need to clear the dust off of it.

quote:
(the world) is a mint condition action figure, that nothing bad has ever happened to, because something outside (the world) is protecting it and ensuring it STAYS in mint condition.

Invented by whom, in this society?

it would take some significant corrupting event...like the invasion of undead...that does irreparable damage to this perfect world...For something so HORRIBLE to happen.

People likely would continue to assume the best of other people. People don't lie or cheat. We build tolerances based on negative experiences.

Accidents happen, natural disasters, it isn't a world without pain. It IS a world without cruelty. People hear hard truths and rather than being able to let them roll off themselves, they accept their truth and improve themselves. No one says hard truths without hoping you improve. There might be some 'bro' style sh!t talk among rivals...

In reply to Vait Ironhand (msg # 22):

And that's the point. In a world where cruelty is an alien concept, what happens when it is introduced? With evil being actively suppressed by some force that I'm sure our characters can not identify, does that mean that people in this world are just living in a Brave New World with magic changing their desires in such a subtle way that it feels like their own choices? Does this magic also prevent any amount of scrutiny into the past to actively prevent people from discovering otherwise? It was mentioned that it was only according to all oral and written history, meaning the possibility for the truth being something different is still there.

I was just thinking of that movie as well. What happens when something like that is introduced for the first time in a world that has no concept of anything to the contrary. I feel like if we could hear those conversations, it would sound or feel slightly off. Can people develop those thoughts or feelings at all? Would that come from Khyber, which I'm sure that people in this world would never truly learn about outside of the Khyber dragonshards used in Elemental Binding. It's a fun rabbit hole to dive into, but how deep does it go?
