Character Creation
-STATS-
 We will be using a standardized spread of ability scores for this game: 16, 14, 14, 12, 10.

 All characters will begin play as 5th level with Undead traits (however, no base races higher than +2 ECL) and, thus, there is no need for a 6th ability score. Charisma will be used instead of Constitution for extra hp.

-PERSONALITY-
 Despite being Undead, chaotic alignments or neutral evil alignments will not be allowed. This is because you are being reanimated by someone who, though evil himself, will not reanimate evil individuals.

 In this vein, this same individual will only reanimate people who possess courage and valor (there will be many parallels drawn to Valhalla and Norse Mythology, though it won't be purely Norse, nor even particularly accurate)… so, when making a character, consider why would this character be reanimated.

-MAGIC-
 Divine magic doesn't seem to be working (the gods have vanished). If you play a character with divine magic, consider this very carefully.

 Nature is heavily corrupted. While Druidic magic *can* work (at least the stuff that doesn't draw on any planar energies), it can and will corrupt the user (even if they ARE undead).

-BOOKS-
 Book of Nine Swords is available for use (and is strongly recommended if you're playing a combat class), as is Heroes of Horror, Libris Mortis, Frostburn, Stormwrack, and Sandstorm.

 Ghostwalk as well.

-WEALTH-
 All characters start with 10,000gp worth of starting gear

-HP-
 Characters will use (1/2 their HD +1 per HD) as their base Hp (so a character with 5d8 hp would have 25 base hp (4x5 + 1x5)). Instead of using max hp at 1st level, players will instead add their Charisma score as bonus hp (the character still gets their full charisma modifier x hd as bonus hp as well). This will partially offset the "death at 0hp" downside that comes with being undead.

Do Nots
 Please be aware of the following during character creation:


-Divine Casting-
 Yes, I am aware that clerics and other casters do not necessarily need to worship a deity in order to gain divine spells. No, you may not use that as a loophole to gain divine spells.

-Multiplying static numbers-
 Pounce, Charge Builds, or any other attempts to break D&D and Pathfinder math by multiplying static numbers to deal exponentially more damage is forbidden. This forces me, as the GM, to make ALL combat encounters into damage sponges and can marginalize the usefulness of other players.

 Rule of thumb: If you can consistently one shot your own character, then you've probably broken something.

 Have a character concept.

 Have a backstory (a paragraph or two is enough please)

 Be able to answer the following question:

 The entity that raised you is able to glean general information about your life and desires before choosing to reanimate you. Why were you chosen as a Einharjar?

 ...or were you chosen as a Valkyr? (females are usually reanimated as Valkyr and possess slightly different abilities)


Note: Specifically, Einherjar gain the ability to be summoned after 24 hours if they die. Valkyr gain the ability to look into the lives of the slain and reanimate them as Einherjar.

 Valkyr can still be returned to reanimation, but it's a more involved process that only Morien can do, while any Valkyr can re-summon an Einherjar with minimal effort.

Bonuses
 In addition to being undead, players are also considered to be Summoned. If killed, players will simply reform in 24 hours. However, any gear you possess will remain where you died (if someone doesn't pick it up).



-Can I play someone who isn't undead?-
 No.

-But I wanna play x concept!-
 Still no. PCs are the summoned undead Einherjar of a warlord trying to stop the apocalypse.

Your Reason
 Alright, I'm going to clarify something:


 EVERY player needs to have a compelling reason to return to life. Generic causes aren't going to cut it.

 Your reason to return is the thing that keeps you going, the thing that centers you and helps hold the madness at bay. It is the thing your character holds on to when the only thing left is the end of the world. It is the central revolving point of the story you want to tell here.

 Every character in this game has a story and a life (or had... before they died). That character's reason to return is the thing that keeps allowing them to endure the agony of returning to unlife again and again. It's personal and unique to every single person... and it's more important than any stat, spell, feat, magic item, or class ability that you put on your character sheet.

RACIAL TRAITS (Undead)
◾ No Constitution score. Undead use their Charisma score in place of their
Constitution score when calculating hit points, Fortitude saves, and any
special ability that relies on Constitution (such as when calculating a breath
weapon's DC).
◾ Darkvision 60 feet.
◾ Immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects,
patterns, and phantasms).
◾ Immunity to bleed, death effects, disease, paralysis, poison, sleep effects,
and stunning.
◾ Not subject to nonlethal damage, ability drain, or energy drain. Immune to
damage to its physical ability scores (Constitution, Dexterity, and Strength),
as well as to exhaustion and fatigue effects.
◾ Cannot heal damage on its own if it has no Intelligence score, although it can
be healed. Negative energy (such as an inflict spell) can heal undead creatures.
◾ The fast healing special quality works regardless of the creature's Intelligence
score.
◾ Immunity to any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also
works on objects or is harmless).
◾ Not at risk of death from massive damage, but is immediately destroyed when
reduced to 0 hit points.
◾ Not affected by raise dead and reincarnate spells or abilities. Resurrection and
true resurrection can affect undead creatures. These spells turn undead creatures
back into the living creatures they were before becoming undead.
◾ Undead do not breathe, eat, or sleep.
