Arashi wandered around town. The smells of exotic foods beckoning to him as the sound of hammer on metal drew his eye to the smith's where an elf and dwarf "worked" together... and by "worked", I mean they bickered at each other over the sound of hammering.

However, the pieces they produced were breathtaking pieces of elven and dwarven art. The two seemed to be trying to produce a cooperative piece... without much luck from the sounds of their arguing (seemingly over smithing technique).

Of course, there seemed to be many other opportunities to look at things as well.

Arashi stopped to admire the breathtaking metalwork and let the two argue among themselves. The heated debate reminded him vaguely of the monastery where different philosophies were tempered with fierce conversation, and often fiercer fights. Arashi, however knew little of compromise and even less of blacksmiths, and felt that any advice he would give would likely do more harm than good, and so he stayed his tongue. Eventually the monk was released from his rapturous admiration and left the two minds to sort out their differences between themselves, as he let his nose guide him. He hoped that he would be able to convince the chef to provide him a meal in exchange for some manual labor or some other menial task.

Jessie stopped by to observe the dwarf and elf's craftsmanship. "Hello Master Smith. I was wondering if you ever made a kusarigama and tonfa before?" She looked to both of them and awaited a response.

Arashi found that, without money, that he could not find anyone able to give him a good meal. Labor seemed to be in abundance with more transients looking for work than jobs to be filled.

The dwarf popped his head up. "A what now?"

The elf chimed in. "A tonfa and a kusarigama. The tonfa is a bar with a handle and the kusarigama is a sickle on a chain."

"Why in blazes would anyone need to put a handle on a club or a chain on a farming instrument?"

The elf sighs. "It's a long story and I don't feel like telling it right now... but yes, miss. I've crafted them before."

Jessie smiled remembering debates with master Stonebeard. She used to think them annoying but misses them so. "Well Master Smith, I am Jessica Stone. As a monk I don't harbor many earthly possessions. However, I was wondering if there was something you may need doing to barter for a steel tonfa and kasurigama? Hopefully, of fine quality. Not only am I a monk, but an adequate dancer. I am of course martially trained and have light experience as a medium. My gift is not summoning spirits but I can peer into the past of someone who passed away if I am able to touch that subject. If there was some materials in a dangerous location, I would be happy to fetch it for you. There are a multitude of labors I could perform in exchange for your service." She gave the elf some puppy eyes for added effect.

The elf sighs and smiles but before he could speak, the dwarf interrupts. "No freebies or barter! Gold only!"
