Re: OOC
Noted! I was under the impression that a day had passed before the toll, but ManOfDusk's post only says a few hours.

I'll make my post a pm to save for later ;)

Erin:
She wondered if the owl were dead or summoned anew when she arose.

 I've wondered the same thing!

Re: OOC
Does Natures path still require survival to not get lost. If so I can start summoning are barbarians from the horn to be guides. Im not sure they will like that task though. They have a +4 survival.

Re: OOC
It looks as though Tavi can lead us south through the basin, but only 5 can be lead by him at maximum speed.  I think that meets our requirements.  No need for a Survival Check at all.

It'll last 8 hours.

The target instinctively knows the shortest, easiest, and fastest way through the wilderness. For the purpose of determining overland speed, the target treats any trackless terrain as though there were a trail or road, and any terrain with a road or trail as though there were a highway. Up to one creature per caster level traveling with the target can also benefit from the effect. The spell functions only outdoors and does not function in magically altered terrain.

Re: OOC
In reply to Erin (msg # 436):

I will point out, nothing in the text of the spell removes the need for survival to avoid becoming lost. It says it ups overland speed.

If we need survival we have an option of summoning if we dont great but we should know the answer.

Survival checks will still be needed to avoid getting lost. The foliage is still very thick.

Re: OOC
I vote for whoever has the highest rank in survival to be the guide.
If no one has any, whoever has the highest wisdom Mod instead.
The second highest can roll for aid another.
And if anyone has a boost to offer (guidance spell, owlís wisdom, morale bonus...) now is the time.

And yes, the owl can fly around and help guide us.

Re: OOC
I would rather summon barbs and not get lost then get lost. They have a +5 bonus to survival so they can take 10 and guide us. Summoned individually they last 30 hours per day. So they cover us all day. It might anger them and thats a downside.

Re: OOC
OOC I definitely agree with Zenobia but I'm much more of a conservative player and I tend to avoid possibly angering allies. The problem is that nobody seems to have ranks in survival and so nobody is volunteering or being volunteered to lead us out of the forest. If getting lost was such an issue, shouldn't we have taken the longer route?

Arashi has a +2 wis mod in case yall were wondering.

Re: OOC
Everyone should roll for aid another if the person trying to guide cant make it taking 10. Arashi has a 12 taking 10 if we have anyone has gudiance we can probably get away with it. One player has to roll a 10 or better total with arashi taking 10.

I built the barbs to guide if needed. My plan was to use them if we had to and it looks like we have to.

I have +1 wisdom mod.

Re: OOC
All of that work would basically be like having the barbs take a 10 anyway. I'm kinda surprised that no one took survival (or has better than a +2 wis) to be honest. Didn't we have a viking at one point? But yeah, if you order Arashi to guide you guys he'll do his best, but definitely wouldn't volunteer as he has no reason to think he's particularly good at that.

Re: OOC
Sorry to double post, but I just wanted a bit of clarification just in case I missed something. We are still using a carriage, correct? Or did we lose it when we took this path?

You guys had to stop using the carriage because of the dense underbrush and road conditions

You might be able to get a shot off at it, but it has cover from the trees so you'd be shooting at a penalty with a miss chance unless you can ignore cover

Unless I missed a Valkyrie characteristic documented somewhere, I think Wisla is the only one with wings.

edit: found the wings in private messages.  In any case, Erin doesn't have the reflexes to remember them at the moment.

The barbarians are on it so it's coming down as posts are being made. Since we're not in combat, it just takes you a few more minutes to catch up.
