Got it.  Lingering damage modifier not just regular catch in fire.

My mistake.

Will correct when able.

So...the reactor's about to go nuclear?

Can I see Fletcher leaving (or wherever he's moving towards)?  Can I see Kelly and Harry?

Probably worse.

Fletcher is actively trying to get people's attention and urging them to run, so if you're paying attention you'll see him.

I'm not sure where I am in this chaotic battle field compared to everyone.  Figured I should ask.

Not that I think it matters.  Trying to outrun a nuclear reactor going critical is not gonna happen.  ;)

Dean, you are with Fletcher and the Boat Raiders near the Reactor.

And as for outrunning a reactor going critical...  Yep.  That would be hard.  Heck of a climactic ending though!

But wait...there's more...

Kelly!  As it happens, you /do/ take wound modifiers on incap rolls....which would mean Death...

BUT!  Per the Setting Rule: High Adventure!  You can spend a chip to gain a one time use of a Combat Edge you meet the requirements for...

Like Hard to Kill.  Which allows you to IGNORE wound modifiers on Incap rolls.

So, we could use that White chip...

We can just say you did this before you rolled.  Which I assume you would have.

If not!  We can see if we get a one eyed harrowed Templar....

Oh!

If someone would rather engage the Core Thing directly!  Just let me know, we can handle that too.

Just seemed like folks were in a Run Away mood.

Oh bummer.

Yeah Hard to Kill for the White is the play there for sure then.

Thus it is done.  The Templar shall abide and eventually return.  And not remain One Eyed once wounds heal.

Fletcher!  Take a Chip for taking "I don't have to outrun the bear, just you" to a whole new special place.

If you can't think of anything, Kelly and Dean, that's alright.  Make the roll at least and I'll move on Monday night.

I just thought it might be fun to narrate some goings on in a freeform way.  But I do get that it can be daunting.

But, if I don't offer methods and moments to react and act in some fashion, it just feels like I'm rambling.

Which I may be already, but there you go.

Rambling is what we do

I don't have a stat block for Delilah, but she could do the same as Prudence I suppose and help shoot our way out of there

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Everyone, save Kelly who was mostly unconscious for all this anyhow, make an Agility roll to see just how well you managed to roll with being tossed around by the nuclear blast.  Kelly, make yours a Vigor roll as it would mostly be about how badly you got tossed about.  But no dying.  Unless you want to take this dramatic moment to end a character (either to get out of the game or to make something new).  I leave it up to you!

Raise, one level of Fatigue.  Success, 1 level of Fatigue and 2d6 Damage.  Fail, 2 levels of Fatigue and 2d6 damage.

The fatigue is a mix of battering, heat exposure, sunburn, temporary blindness, deafness, etc.

Point being, you probably all survive and, thanks to your effort, so did most of what was left of the Lockesburg force.  Just caught the edge of it.  And it was just a small nuclear explosion.  Just a little one.  Insignificant really...

Feel free to roll your own damage and post appropriately how your character finds themselves in the aftermath of it all.

There are no enemies worth mentioning...  What raiders made it away are continuing on away.  Their force is absolutely broken and scattered.

This is now just about what your characters do in the immediate aftermath.  And if anyone is super interested in checking out that yella-fella.

Kelly has all the Wounds and Fatigues.

There will need to be some convalescing in the aftermath.

But, Kelly will survive it all and heal...eventually.

Care for any permanent scars, damage marks?  Good opportunity to trade some Hindrances around and play it up for a bit.  Life Changing events can be Life Changin.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Ends are hard...

But, basically, that's the end of all that.  The raiders are defeated.  Lockesburg and this operational area are "safe".  There's a lot of folk who will manage to live a while longer with that terrible bunch blasted and broken up.

Delilah is gone.  Seemed a fitting place to let her go.  Her magical pistol will call to another.  I feel like Riley, the militia sniper, might just take up the Way of the Gun and turn her hands to Lawin' around these parts.

Kelly and Prudence will heal, battered and busted, but they'll heal.

Lockesburg will recover.  They lost people, but not the farms.  Not the resources.  In fact, TexArcana will likely be able to work close with them to provide more folk to help build back.  And probably more technological resources.  TexArcana isn't fool enough not to recognize that Lockesburg sacrificed quite a bit to keep them safe.

Lockesburg will welcome any one of the characters to stay on, should they wish.  More than earned the place.

Obviously, I am struggling to find time to post.  I do have more story and will probably want to come back to it at some point.  But that point is not right now.  You guys are very patient and I appreciate the chance to get to the end of what was perhaps a got a bit bigger  than was manageable.

If anyone would like to know, there really is a whole story behind all that.  But there wasn't much way to tell it in the game.  In a movie, you could do flashbacks and cut scenes and such.  Which I considered, but I thought it better to focus on the main characters.

GM is hard.

Let's take all the characters up to their next Rank, if you want to keep rolling if/when the story continues.  Again, feel free to make some changes to show that such experiences can have lasting effects.

Any questions?  Comments?  Criticisms (other than maps, I know about the maps...geeze...lay off about the maps)?

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

The fact that the game reached the conclusion of a story arc is a success in my book.  It's a rare thing on RPoL all things considered.

The pacing is what it is.  I appreciate you kept everyone in the loop.

As for continuation, I'm sure if the time comes I'll still be around.  I've been in a number of games that have gone on intentional and unintentional hiatuses, and then come back to life, so it's possible.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Hey, I know how it is, and you've managed to at least complete this arc. I know I'm interested in seeing what else the crew of The Black Dog might get up to in the future -- The Driver's been good to us, and I'd like to find out what he's going to find once he actually reaches home.

But those are tales for other days, and I'm satisfied that we've come to a good pausing point for now. Maybe if you want to do a "this is the story of How The Weirdos came to be," some of the Doomsayers there might actually have survived to be captured and questioned. But again, it's been a blast to play.

Happy Trails to you,
Until we meet again.
Happy trails to you,
Keep smiling until then.

Who cares about the clouds when we're together?
Just sing a song, and bring the sunny weather.

Happy trails to you,
Until we meet again.

That's actually a neat idea, imho.  Stop at a good narrative point and see if there's time to pick it back up later.

If there is I'll still be here.

If there's not, thanks for running a complete story!

Breaker One-Nine, Breaker One-Nine.  Anyone got ears on out there? Over.

Well, I finally had some time and inspiration.  Have some new ideas.  I also taught myself to use Maptools so that maps are now an officially on-the-table item (so to speak).

So, thought I should do a roll call and see who's still interested in the Black Dog's next stop.

Well damn, that was fast!

That's two!

Any new ideas for Kelly in the Aftermath of the Battle?  Any lingering damage you want to play up?

I think everyone was supposed to upgrade characters to the next Rank as well.  So, feel free to work on that while we see who else might be about.

Think I need to make a new OOC thread...
