Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

I would have thrown this out last night, but RPOL was giving me some trouble.

I guess I need some thoughts on intentions:

-Head straight off to try and find the raider camp with the information you have?

-Head back to the bridgehead and we'll sum up the clean-up going on there?  Or Just head back to Lockesburg for the eventual re-convening of the whole force?  IE regroup, make a plan and all that.

I'm good either way and I can find a way to get Dean back in either way.  Feel free to do this IC if you like or I can fast forward whichever direction you choose.

Also,  Fletcher and Harry, y'all can make a Scavenging Roll (Notice) -4 to glean any useful components from whatever is left of the armor and all the pieces that were scattered after the Effect.  But just components.  1d6 components for Success, 2d6 for a Raise.

I'd assume, we'd head back to the bridge to see if there is assistance to be lent.  As far as I remember, nobody on our side of the river was aware of the status of our actual goal of intercepting and rescuing the hostages.

True.  You would have seen the arrival of the vehicles on the other side and could make assumptions.  But no hard data.

Back to the Bridge it is!

Which is what I figured, but I hate to assume....

If its all right, I'll be glad to sum up the Bridge and getting back together at Lockesburg for...The Plan.

Anyone have anything particular they would need to make sure is covered or done in this scene change?

Nice job Kelly.  That was a very well done moment.

How much time has passed since dealing with the Iron Man?  I'm mainly asking for the purposes of power point recovery and such.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

I'm gonna roll this train on to the conclusion...

Feel free to offer or indicate any extra thoughts, plans, ideas.

Lockesburg's full ready, McKellar-trained, militia force is only about 25 young folks.  There's been a few casualties to that number so we'll say 20 militia can go.  But, these are survivor townsfolk and the full muster would be every able body.  That's another possible 40-50 ranging from a few too young for militia and then heavily weighted towards getting too old to do this.  What's left would be too young, too frail, too wounded, or sick, disabled, etc.  A few that would also stay behind to guard and watch out for these.  This involves pulling in everyone from the outlying farmsteads (which were already heading to town anyway in the emergency)

So that gives us:

McKellar, Lockesburg Captain: Defacto in charge of the Assault and a Pyrokinetic Syker

20 Militia Rifles (With Very low ammo, think ten shots), with Knives.  Basic soldiers, trained by McKellar to operate as units.

40 Townsfolk (Armed with much more random weaponry; everything from bows and spears to pistols and shotguns.  Probably some torches and pitchforks.  Survivors all but not really soldiers.)

2 fARMOR trucks - Better armor than regular vehicles and armed with bolt throwers (which is the heaviest weapon they have, other than McKellar)

A Scattering of small vehicles they have managed to keep running; ragged out cars and pickups.

Other than that, you have the Black Dog and Crew.  Which is absolutely nothing to sneeze at.  You guys, with your powers and abilities, rival much of what Lockesburg can throw out.

In case it isn't clear...  I will be going with Mass Battles on this...

Man this got big.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

What you know you have fought and defeated:

-You have smashed two groups of raiders - put together they totaled somewhere near 25.

-Four heavily armored Trogs have been accounted for.

-10 or so of the winged, flashy scout guys.

-One Raid Leader - The guitar guy

-Iron Man

What might be at the camp

-An unknown number of raiders left - McKellar and Delilah saw "lots" in the vision

-An unknown number of possible Trogs left - There were also some in the vision

-An unknown number of other, crazy rock and roll themed "leaders" - There could be more

-So many more unknown possibilities of what these weirdoes might've cooked up.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

I will do more IC stuff for planning in a bit, but I wanted to give you all thinking information now and feel free to discuss IC or OOC or whatever.

-The Route between Lockesburg and De Queen is navigable by all vehicles.  it does not go over the broken bridge.

-The raiders you interrogated and Iron Man.  Mentioned Queen...De Queen...Rollie Fort...needing water for the reactor...

-It is McKellar's best bet that the Raiders will be posted up on De Queen Lake for water access.  The flatest area on the lakeshore to move that truck mounted reactor would be Pine Ridge Campground.  So that's his best idea.  Feel free to Google map De Queen Lake to get a sense of what I'm using.

I will be back with more.

Plan this weekend.  Monday, I'd like the battel to begin (if possible, if the planning is fun then we can do more of that)

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

So.  There's really only one way onto the peninsula area where they'd likely be camped out at.

There's scouting opportunities from the south, looking across the water from the Oak Grove Park area.

We don't have any boats, and it's about 1,000 ft from the south shore/Oak Grove Park area to the Pine Ridge Campground area, so there's no real way to come at them from more than 1 side in a meaningful way.  1,000ft is extreme range for our longest range weapons, so even thinning the herd from a distance is a stretch, especially with our lack of ammunition.

Tactically, we could try sending a contingent along the north shore of the peninsula to then cut south, and come in from the side/behind.

If we were willing to spend the time, I guess we could try something with the dam.  If the rate of flow through the spillway is great enough it might be enough to starve the reactor of coolant, assuming it can't be spun down quickly or has some alternative method of operation.  Generally it's bad news when a reactor overheats.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

I wonder if we can at least use the locals' knowledge of the terrain to weasel around and approach the base of the peninsula undetected.  I feel like it would be a very different fight if we can manage that versus going down the most navigable, likely to be surveilled route.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Nice thinking Fletcher and Kelly!

-I will say that there are boat opportunities.  Possibly with motors that work or can be made to work between Fletcher and Rusty.  Otherwise paddles.

-I will also say you absolutely have solid area knowledge of the lake and lakeshore.  Heck, the whole general De Queen area.  These folks are solid locals and have been here a long while.  It is a solid tactical asset for any raiding ideas or even maneuvering the whole force from an unlikely direction.

-The Dam is a big solid earthwork dam.  Which may be why it is still standing.  The flood control systems might be usable.  Likely pretty dodgy though.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

So, since we have boats, it might be worth inserting a smaller force by water to sabotage the reactor while the main force draws the bulk of the raiders.

Without access to it they should be unable to sustain their equipment, which is the main reason they're such a threat.

Without it they're a bit more garden variety, which means Lockesburg and any other nearby community should have a better time dealing with them if some run away or have to be left alive if things go sideways and a retreat is called for.

As for scouting, a small mobile sneaky group on the south shore should have a good view of things as long as they've got some binoculars or similar.

Are any of the active player characters, well... sneaky?  Looking at you Dean.  I know Kelly's not discrete and Harry even less so.

I'm wondering if we had a sneaky sneaky type who could roll a Dramatic task (perhaps with supports from our statted extras) to recon their camp and even possibly steal their stuff they would otherwise use to kill us with contraband military materiale, maybe plant some charges since we have tech geniuses.

Harry is, in fact, the opposite of sneaky-sneaky. He's a big rattling tin can with a chainsaw arm and thunder guns. :D

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Dean's player is pretty busy RL right now.  He's staying in touch and trying to navigate, so we'll see if he can manage it.

Dean is the super sneaky type and the scouting ahead is absolutely in his wheelhouse.

I don't want to volunteer him all the way into the raider camp alone.  But I think he would be okay with me volunteering for a reconnoiter.

Based on the suggestions, could I suggest:

-Dean and Delilah will make use of the motorcycle to scout into De Queen and the southern edge of the lake.  They will then rendezvous with the force moving up.

-The boat raiders will split off and head to the east side of the lake at a suitable point to head into the water and head for the peninsula in the shortest crossing.  It feels like Fletcher's with this group?  Dean and Delilah could easily fall in with this force too.  Rusty, the Lockesburg Tech-spert could easily be with this group too.

-The main force will maneuver around to the west and up the main route.  Attempting to be covert, but acknowledging that they likely won't be anyway.  Their job is to cut off the peninsula end and begin the fight.  McKellar is leading here of course.  Harry, Kelly, Crowboy, and Prudence would most likely be with this group.

Sound about right for the set up?  Guess anybody wrong?  Other suggestions?

Yeah unless someone has a particular capability, that's probably about as detailed as it needs to be.  I'll need to know to figure how many power points I get back.

Well...  Let's say...

Three hours to get everyone back to town...the plan...the organization...vehicle readying etc...

Which means a night of no rest.

Rolling a little after dawn.

Maybe 2 hours to maneuver into positions, drop scouts off, etc.

So when the fighting starts, 5 hours passed.  5 PP back!

Apologies btw.  Work is kicking my butt more than I expected this week....  Best laid plans of blah blah...
