Well, that's three!

May have another on the line.  I fully intended to get started with whoever showed up and just steamroll on through the first short intro story.  If that goes well and we feel like there's a need for more folks, I'll throw up a Want Ad and we'll add them into the next one.

Get a core and build up.

Thoughts?

Also, get cracking on characters.  Here to help if needed, but I get the feeling you guys have it pretty well handled.

But, be quick.  Storm's comin....

The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Update!  First three character sheets done.  Yay!

Should be able to kick this thing into gear this weekend.  Might be a few more coming, but they can catch up.  Momentum!

Question for Rusty, Kelly, and Maggie!

Can you think of a reason why your wasteland wanderer might be on the Oklahoma/Arkansas border area?  Willing to discuss or offer some ideas, but wanted to see what you might think of first.

I didn't /intend/ to start with any of you having any particular connection yet, but if you guys want to share a bit and see if there's a neat connection waiting to be tied off, go ahead.

Do any of the characters who've been finished happen to need a big, hulking, scary robot man as a bodyguard? Could either of those characters be at least loosely considered a "peace officer" of some sort?

Doubt if a witch would be seen as a "peace keeper" :)

Depends how you define peace, I suppose.

In my case that could be as easy as Jo Wales said "Go to eastern Oklahoma."  Kelly would not be in any hurry to go back to the Maze and probably never wants to see it again right now.

If you squint maybe?  Templars are the closest thing to a centralized agency for public safety in the Wasted West, even moreso than the Law Dogs who don't have a central authority they all report to.

I guess this hinges on whether or not the posse knows Kelly is a Templar already, and honestly I'm not bothering to be secretive about it OOC because even if you don't know you'll find out relatively soon I'd imagine.

Templars are in a weird spot:  in the lore, they're supposed to be secretive about it so they can test the worthiness of others.  But in actual games 1) you almost never get the chance to actually spy on people and see if they're truly worthy and 2) what actually happens is once the posse figures out you've got teh healz you're "the Templar" from then on XD

In less words, you just can't get four or five other brainers to keep a secret.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

The reason I ask is because Rusty has some programming that makes him seek to drag outlaws to the nearest "peace officer," so if he identified Kelly as a Templar while dragging around a particularly annoying prisoner, he may have dumped him off with her, then stuck around her so he wouldn't have to travel so far next time...which might be why he's in the area with her.

Rusty isn't a Law Dog per se, but given his particular set of Directives he might as well be.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

lol There's a kind of synergy there, I guess a good question to ask is does Harry's programming care if the "peace officer" summarily judges and possibly executes said prisoner XD

"The chip said to bring 'em to you. Didn't say nothin' about what came after that."

Though he is allowed to execute those who've committed capital crimes like rape and murder himself (which he'd be inclined to do anyway). Thievery and the like is much more of a grey area.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Martin definitely doesn't fit the "Peace Officer" mold.  He'd be a bit young for anything like that.

As far as a reason why he might be in the Arkansas/Oklahoma border area, he's a drifter at the moment so he could just be in the area.  Probably lots of folks like that after The Harvest wrecked most settlements.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

Sorry about going completely dark yesterday.  I hoped to get some in after the day trip to a theme park but I feel asleep sitting up at the keyboard.

On the other hand, a day at a theme park during a rain storm really does get you in a Hell on Earth frame of mind.

So, we have everyone in the right area.  Great!

Harry and Kelly, are we going to go ahead and solidify that team-up?  Personally, I dig the image.  Its also very helpful in the disguise department.  Who is going to notice or think anything of the scav girl near the giant murderous war-machine.  He attracts the attention.

Harry would make a hell of a way to test people's character: how do they react to him, and then do they try to take advantage of him?

Exactly!  That's why it seemed like such a good pairing.  I do want to try and make the disguise/Test of Worthiness a thing here.  I always liked it, but you are right that it can be a struggle to get into the game.

First post up!  Let's see what happens...

Feel free to PM with questions or rolls or any such thing about Weather or Area Knowledge or what have you.

Just looking for how you approach and get in some personal introduction to writing.  Everyone will be in the same spot soon enough.

Had extra time, so I can push forward a bit more.  Gotta get the band together.

Still going to make sure everyone gets a post in before I move forward though, so feel free to take a bit of time if needed.

Momentum.

Re: The Nameless Bar - OOC Chatter

I have seen this work in other games.

How would you guys feel about pre-rolling a series of Notice checks?  When required, I can just check the next result in your list and move forward.  It would be for noticing things that you, the player, probably wouldn't even know to ask for.  Little hidden details, clues, etc.

It helps cut down on me asking for checks, then waiting on rolls, then responding with resulting information.

Or, would everyone prefer to roll as needed?

Also!  If you think there is something your character would be looking for or is more suspiciously suspicious of or want to know some more details, you can always roll a Notice or Common Knowledge and ask your question.

I don't want to lead on too much.  You should feel able to take some reins and direction.  Especially since we are all in the same spot now...if not talking yet.
