Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread

Hmmm, come to that... A rifling bench and moulds for minie balls would be all sorts of handy if things go large scale... Something to think about.

True, although I haven't the slightest idea how to operate it

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread

Converting native muskets to a standard rifled bore would be a seriously valuable service for those who can't afford a modern rifle and ammo... Something to think about.

I agree, but doing it Syrtis Major would probably not be looked upon kindly by the British authorities. My understanding is they only tolerate Americans selling guns in the Coprates because it's halfway around the world

Well that's where the smuggling comes in... Although the machine tools would likely be harder to get on world than mere guns would be.

Something to think about for the future. ^_^

Alright I've now as updated the game introduction and finished the setting page. I'll now set up a game advert and if we're lucky we'll be able to get going in a week.

In reply to GM (msg # 28):

Bah, the foreign office doesn't always know what's best - no poor bloody green wallah with a rifle musket he has to stand up to repair is going to last long against the British Army, but the good will we could buy that way is potentially priceless... Of course, the important thing is spoking the Belgians wheel. ^_^

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread
I've had a lot of applicants already, so we should have a full party pretty soon. Just need to decide on which ones to take on and I might even increase my planned group size to five.

Five is fine by me! Personally I always find one of the hardest parts of running a game to be deciding which applicants to accept

Howdy! Arnold is a former American cavalryman, now a merchant, seeking to make his fortune on Mars

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread
Welcome to both our new players. I'm now just deciding on our final group member.

Have a read of this thread and give me any thoughts you might have on the direction of the campaign and what you want from it.

Should be able to manage that tomorrow morning, before work. The week has been kind of manic.

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread

I could almost see this group doing a Martian version of the movie with Sean Connery and Michael Cane. " The Man who would be King." This would be loads of fun.

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread
Alright we have our final cast member, welcome to Larkin Ridley.

I'll try and get everything ready to go over the weekend and hopefully we should be able to start on Monday or Tuesday, but at the very latest we should be ready to start by the end of next week.

I'm still welcome to any last thoughts you might have on the campaign and what direction you want it to head in.

Also what timezone is everyone in? Be good to get a rough idea of what sort of times everyone will be posting.

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread
Iím in US eastern (gmt -5).

So for those who havenít had a chance to read through this thread, Iíll sum up the brief outline of whatís been discussed here.

Iím an American merchant, who, in addition to substantial legitimate trade, also smuggles modern firearms and ammunition to Martian rebels fighting against the Belgians in the Coprates Valley and does the occasional covert job for the British. So Korentin (now Ulysses) and I were thinking of an initial objective of bringing a shipment of arms to the Coprates and getting back to the Crown Colony. If that doesnít mesh with everyone, Iím pretty flexible though, and would gladly be involved in any sort of mission that has a reasonable enough profit incentive

Re: The Gentlemen's Club - OOC Thread
I think it's gone from simply arming the Martians to actually training them. Which is where (former) Sgt Bill would come in.
