I'm thinking of starting a Knights of the Old Republic game using Saga Edition. Wanna port Zindra over to an era of Force users and open warfare?

That sounds great! Here is a link to the new game. I'll keep this one open to use as a template for organizational purposes, and in case anyone comes back and wants to know where we went.

I'm interested. :-)  How can I get a copy of the Star Wars SAGA edition rules?

I'm assuming that we can make new characters.  What is the starting level?

Re: OOC Cantina

Wonderful! The game rules are available in the game itself, with characters starting at level 1. I'm still working on writing up a little blurb about how I want to handle the Dark Side among PCs, since the specifics of that are a table-by-table thing.

Heya!

I was just thinking I haven't perused rpol in a while and I should check and see if there are any games that piqued my interest.

Re: OOC Cantina

Welcome back, Bril! If a KotOR campaign sparks your curiosity, please do come right in!

I also might be picking this game back up in Saga Edition later on, if Iaarkahr also comes back interested in getting things moving again. I really really want to run it in EotE, but that system is just killing me with its complexity.

Re: OOC Cantina

Sounds good! I'll wander over that way. I would love to keep this game going as well but it's totally feel wrong to keep going without our wookiee. And I trust your judgement as far as system goes!

I have been summoned!

I've also been distracted lately and have only just returned to rpol from a hiatus.

Willing to discuss system and reboots and what-not.

Re: OOC Cantina

You live! Huzzah, that's the full crew! :D

If you're interested, I'm starting a new game set during the Old Republic era (prior to KotOR 1, not the MMO's era) and you're perfectly welcome to join us there. In addition, we seem to have everyone here interested in getting moving again using the Saga Edition RPG for these heroes as well. I'm more than happy to get us some character sheets prepped, or even set up a Roll20 tabletop for us to use for character sheets and mapping. I'll drop the books I'd like to use in a system thread here.

Re: OOC Cantina

I am potentially interested in both.  It's been a while since I've done anything SAGA but 3.X is not hard to pick back up.  Think I even have the books floating around somewhere...

What is your idea for the Old Republic game?  I'd like to run a Jedi but I don't seem to have the greatest luck with Jedi games.

Are you done with EotE?  I still kinda like the system.

Re: OOC Cantina

I think I am done with EotE, at least until the call to it overwhelms me again and I give it another shot. I really like it, and want to be able to use it as my primary Star Wars system, but it just doesn't click in my head the way I like. Things end up slowing down and then falling apart, especially in space combat. I imagine I'd have a lot of fun playing it, but being on the GM side makes it difficult to keep moving. Hopefully someday I'll manage it better.

The idea for the other game is to get together some heroes who will be there when the new Sith thread is revealed and have to live through the Jedi Civil War under the reign of Darth Revan. We have at least one other Jedi concept in mind, and I don't mind more than one Jedi in the party at all. There can be a very cool contrast between Padawan outlooks, and this is absolutely the time for it: Jedi Knights Revan and Malak have just defeated the Mandalorians and saved the Republic directly against the orders of the Jedi Council, the Galaxy is still reeling from that war and the one right before it that destroyed the Sith, and now faith in the Council has been put into question because they refused to aid the Republic in its time of need, seemingly just because there were no Sith involved.

Bril is thinking of a Jedi 110% into Jedi propaganda. You could easily play off that in a dozen different ways, if you like.

Re: OOC Cantina

Time to start thinking of different concepts then.

Will this be a hard reboot for this game?  That is, will I be reforging the Wookiee as muscle?

I hear you regarding EotE.  My issue, for lack of better term, with EotE et al, is that it can very quickly get out of control as characters scale up with xp.

Re: OOC Cantina

I don't think I'll be rebooting this game, just starting from where we left off. Maybe starting shortly after the space battle, though. I'm not really a huge fan of vehicular combat, to be honest. :P

Re: OOC Cantina

I think the main issue with EotE is it doesn't gel well with pbp. Every roll felt like a lot of back and forth to get set up. That being said the system is super interesting and I'd love to play it in a better setting.

Re: OOC Cantina

Absolutely! I was going to bring that up once we started talking stats and things, and since now's that time, I would like everyone to start at level 2 to represent having already gone through the first adventure.

In addition, I've included another sourcebook in the rules thread: Scum & Villainy, the sourcebook for fringe campaigns. It includes a lot of information regarding the seedier elements of the Galaxy, including smugglers and such. Seems fitting for this group.

On top of that is Starships of the Galaxy, for some insight into your ship and how to handle upgrades and modifications.

Do you have a character sheet format you’d like us to use? I’ve been looking over Saga Edition and I think I’m ready to start translating Bril.

Re: OOC Cantina

I overlooked that, and now I've put up a character sheet template in the system thread. Prepare yourselves!

Another important element of character creation we should talk about early on: the Destiny system.

I do want to incorporate the idea of Destinies and Destiny Points, and what those are is really up to each of you to decide for yourselves and to help each other think of. Maybe not explicitly detailing what your Destiny really means, but definitely some sort of goal for me to put in front of you with choices along the way that tell us who you are and who you become as you go.

Sounds good! I’ll start thinking about a destiny for Bril now. I kinda see him as aimless right now cause his whole goal was to get off his homeworld which has been totally accomplished but now he’s dealing with the consequences.

Also another question, ability score generation?

Re: OOC Cantina

Stats and cash! For Ability Scores, go ahead and use the standard array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or point buy. They come out the same. For starting credits, just use the max for your class. None of this random starting wealth business, where all you can afford is half a blaster and a single broken cracker you found under the dejarik table.
