Hmm, so how would you go about adding stuff to the kanka site, e.g. my chaarcter, family etc. etc., essentially contributing to the site ?

Re: OOC discussions

Well, summer is a killer for my computer time. I'll spend what time I have updating your character sheets until I find the time to move the story on.

I'll look into the Kanka thing when I find the time, Harmast. I can grant write access to individual entities, if you have registered for the campaign and I know what account is yours.

I did that.
Indeed, I am now using kanka myself for my own game ^^

A pleasure to meet you. I'm the junior Orlanth priestess. Hope you're good with me dying my hair red for the occasionally joint ceremony as your husband :P

Re: OOC discussions

Hi everybody! I just finished my character sheet, yaaaaay. ^)^

I hope we can be friends and stab bad guys together. Erina is an initiate of Vinga. She's very close to qualifying as a Wind Lord. SO CLOSE AAAAAAAAH (she needs 1% more Jump). Her hair is naturally very bright red; it practically glows, and she's quite the looker. Subtlety is not her strong suit.

We might even have enough people proficient with shields to make a phalanx. That'd be awesome! I was originally hoping there was an official Elmal cult writeup somewhere, because spears and fire magic are both cool, so both together is double cool. But there isn't, so I settled for Vinga.

Anyway! I originally intended for Erina to be Harmast's younger sister and Vasana's buddy/squire who looks up to her (except not literally because Vasana is short), but I'm not sure if that will mesh. I made Erina 18 years old for that purpose, so she went through her adulthood initiation a few years earlier than usual.

Here's my background table. If you guys would look over it to see if Harmast and Vasana think those connections make sense, or if anybody else thinks there could be a good connection, I'd be grateful.

One does not settle for Vinga.  One aspires to Vinga.  ;)

You can look up to her when she is on her Bison.  Just remember also to look down so you don't step in anything.  :D

Re: OOC discussions

Thanks, Syssiah, Vasana! =)

I meant that I, the player, settled for Vinga. Erina is all about Vinga and being an awesome warrior maiden. With Devotion (Orlanth) at 100%, she probably goes door to door in a nice but plain outfit handing out pamphlets about the benefits of Vinga... =P

Vasana, it looks like you and I had the same event and result for 1623 and 1624, but after Pennel Ford, you went to Pavis and I went to yoink some shiny stuff from the City of Wonders. Is that correct?

Re: OOC discussions

In reply to Erina (msg # 334):

I own the GenCon 50 Gods of Glorantha preview. It says to use Yelmalio, as printed. So, the Orlanthi do have the shield phalanx.

I'd do up some associated magic though from the Thunder Brothers (Orlanth) and from Redalda the Horse Loving Daughter (basically, Ernalda with ponies.) I'd drop stuff like Kuschile Horse Archery.

And Ohai, I'm on track to be a Storm Voice. That means I am also technically Vinga, Vinga Thunderous! Certainly we can come up with some weather myths for Vinga.

Player Suggestions for Elmal Associated Magic:

Elmal does not have access to Sunspear in any way. However, as Elmal was never defeated by Zorak Zoran, Elmal cultists can use spells like Fireblade and Firearrow.

Orlanth Adventurous: Lightning - Before leaving on the Lightbringers Quest, Orlanth commanded Yavor Lightning to serve as Elmal's thane. Elmal cultists may use their Fire rune when using this Rune Magic.

Orlanth Rex: Command Worshippers - Before he left on the Lightbringer's quest, Elmal was elected to the role of Chieftain with Orlanth's approval. Orlanth Gifted his best Thane with his torc of authority. A legally elected Elmal chieftain can sacrifice for this spell and uses it under the same restrictions as an Orlanth chieftain would. Elmal chieftains use their Truth rune for this magic.

Humakt: Oath - As a pledge of friendship and warrior honor between the two gods of honor and battle of the Storm Tribe, Humakt lends Elmal this spell

Bless Crops: Ernalda (Esrola) - Ernalda gives this spell to the husband-protector who defended her daughter Esrola during the cold of the Greater Darkness while she slept in the Earth.

Heal Body: Another gift from Ernalda, this by way of Elmal's wife, Redalda the Horse Loving Daughter. Redalda could take the shape of a steed and supported Elmal in the defense of the Storm Tribe. Elmal cultists can use their fire rune for this spell, but only with humans and horses. It has no power to heal creatures of Darkness (such as Tuskers and Uz.)

Re: OOC discussions

Thanks! It's kind of disappointing that you're supposed to use Yelmalio, though. Half the fun of Elmal was the fire magic, and Yelmalions are expressly forbidden from using fire magic.

You edited your post before I made mine. Good info! Very nice. Much firearrow. Many javelin.

What do you mean you're on track for Storm Voice? Like you qualify for Storm Voice already, or you're really close?

My profession is Priest and I'm pretty close for skills, but I need that almighty POW. I need to sacrifice for two more points of magic and then get my POW to 18. Gonna be zapping people with disruption a lot if we get into combat.

Re: OOC discussions

Yeah, the POW requirement is a beast! It's theoretically possible to qualify for Rune Lord right out the gate, but Rune Priest is more or less out of reach for starting characters.

Is there any way I can help you advance? Or anybody, for that matter? (Give me really hard jumps to make please. I only need 1%! One percent! Maybe I should just make that my seasonal research...)

Re: OOC discussions

No, there's no need to try to replenish rune points if you haven't used any.

You only roll to try to increase POW on a high holy day, or during Sacred Time.

Re: OOC discussions

The rulebook states multiple times that POW gain rolls are made at the same time as experience rolls and are made each season. Successful Battle and Worship rolls also allow for POW gain rolls each season, though the Worship POW gain checks only apply to presiding officials at Worship ceremonies in temples, holy places, etc on holy days of any kind. I believe the intention is for POW to accumulate quickly so that PCs can gain Rune Priest/Lord status and new Rune spells and points at a rapid pace so that they can become mythic heroes before they're 800 years old. That, of course, fits Glorantha as typically presented, which is a land of mythic heroes, and if anyone is going to be a mythic hero, shouldn't that someone be a PC?

Normally, initiates get a free and extra POW gain roll by participating in holy day and Sacred Time ceremonies, in addition to seasonal POW gain checks based on skill, spell use, and training.

Anyway, did you house rule POW gain rolls to be less frequent in general, i.e., did you remove POW experience checks from the game? It's fine if you did. I just want clarification on this.

It would change the dynamics of the setting quite a bit, making PCs much weaker over time, high-tier monsters basically invincible, and God-Talker/Rune Priest the end all, be all of character status. With only 2 POW gain rolls per year, getting that +20% is crucial to character advancement.
